  1. I'm just probably gonna get an NTSC Atari 1040ST with an SC1224 monitor and a joystick (probably a Zipstick or something awesome like that). So an NTSC ST would run most PAL games with a 50/60 Hz disk?
  2. I need one of those Epyx 500XJ joysticks. They look awesome.
  3. That's easily fixed by bending the the contacts a bit, but I found that it didn't really make it THAT much more useful. I meant that I wanted something the size of one. Something I can pick up and hold that still uses arcade parts.
  4. Boulder Dash, Summer Games, MULE, Archon, Legionnaire, Ultima I-IV, Ninja, Jumpman, Jumpman Jr, Ballblazer, Rescue On Fractalus, Wolfenstein, Choplifter, Caverns Of Mars, HERO, Zork, Temple Of Apshai, Gateway To Apshai, Star Raiders, Montezuma's Revenge, Bruce Lee, Leaderboard Golf, Telengard, Rainbow Walker, Alternate Reality, Pitstop, Master Of The Lamps, Hard Hat Mack, Miner 2049'er, Bounty Bob Strikes Back, Karateka, Beach Head, The Goonies, Ghostbusters, Caverns Of Khafka, F-15 Strike Eagle, River Raid, Blue Max, World Karate Championship, will all these games work? These are my favorite A8 games.
  5. How did you do that? I asked MAMECADE on YouTube, and he didn't know. I want to make it about the size of a Wico joystick, with two buttons and Suzo parts. How much would this cost?
  6. I'd like a C64C and a 1541-II as well. A 1084 or 1084S monitor would be nice as well. Needs to be unyellowed, tested and working. If you can, put up a video showing it working. I'd like to be able to return as well. My C64 breadbox has some dead chips, and I need a spare to use until I can fix that one. Any price under 40 or so US dollars would be ok, not counting shipping. Post a picture please.
  7. Wico has leaf switches, Tac-2 has a weird ball contact that makes a sort of "tap tap tap" sound. If you want microswitches, get a Competition Pro. The reproductions aren't great, but you can get an original here: https://www.atari260...A26CON0187.html I've got a Tac-2 and loved it, but the buttons were too small for me which is why I build my own controller for the 2600. If the buttons were slightly bigger, I would have stuck with the Tac-2 all the way. How easy is it to build an arcade joystick? I'm not good with soldering and wiring and the like, but I want a kick ass joystick thats exactly the way I want it. I'd use Suzo-Happ parts, because Dutch things are great.

  9. I have to agree. They're what the Atari 2600 games were designed to be played with. There may be better joysticks, but the CX40 is the way the Atari 2600 is meant to be played with.
  10. I've never heard of those Black Max joysticks. Are they any good? They look a bit like the joystick Commodore made for the Plus/4.
  11. Does anyone here want to give their opinion on the Archer/Quickshot joysticks? They look pretty cool. I've heard the reliability isn't great. They're flight stick style joysticks, with suction cups. Must be pretty good for Air Raiders on the 2600.
  12. Does anyone in the US have a Suzo The Arcade joystick? Were they ever released in the US? I've heard they're amazing.

  13. I'm hopefully going to get my Apple IIe in a week or two.

  14. Today's keyboards have a much different layout than the C64. Maybe you need to set up some options so it's layed out like a real C64. I don't use VICE, I use Power64 on my iMac for C64 emulation. I'm just doing it to get my C64 fix while I'm working on repairing my real C64.
  15. I like both. The Amiga is neat, but it's out of my reach for now. So how much would be an unyellowed 1040ST and SC1224 monitor?
  16. I just had a dream where I was riding my bike, and my neighbors pulled up in their car with an Atari Jaguar. They were going to the dump to throw it away, but I tried to buy it from them, saying "it's rare". It didn't work. Stupid neighbors.

    1. Atari Joe

      Atari Joe

I've had that dream. It's never any good.

I really don't know why I had it. I'm not really all that big a fan of the Jaguar.

  17. Ohh well. Atari ST has most of the same greats like Lemmings and Gods, Stunt Car Racer, Captain Blood, etc. If I really want an Amiga (which I do), I can just save up and import one. Could I use an NTSC monitor and PSU?
  18. I want the one with the orange stickers. Orange is a cool color.
  19. Could you post a picture of yours? I want to know which mechanism (Sanyo or Chelco) has that problem, that way I can look out for that.
  20. Any Amiga, like any ST, has RGB output as well (while not every ST has composite). There is no such thing as colour encoding in RGB mode, it's only screen refresh rate that's different. So even if said Amiga doesn't give you colour through composite, it will give you colour on a Commodore CRT monitor through RGB, regardless of the screen mode settings of that Amiga. Other problems can only result from significant CPU or bus speed differences, but anything I found using Google are claims that you just need an Amiga with Fat Agnus and you can switch from 50Hz to 60Hz and back in software ("Degrader" is mentioned as a working switching software). Thorsten I don't exactly understand. So does this mean that an NTSC Amiga 500 would run PAL games?
  21. I do. It's at my father's office. He moved it there as an excuse for me and my brother to come hang out with him. It's our main gaming PC.
  22. Does anyone have a 50/60 Hz disk spare for sale or trade? How much would they go for on ebay?
  23. Thats really nice. How much would an Atari 1040ST with monitor go for in the US? Could you perhaps put up a video of you running a PAL game on an NTSC system? I want to see for myself.
  24. So can an NTSC Atari 1040ST with an SC 1224 run most UK games like Oids, Gods, Vroom, Stunt Car Racer, Elite, Mercenary, Cannon Fodder, Lemmings, Kick Off, Bubble Bobble, etc.? I don't want to have to spend the money on a PAL machine, but I really want some ST action.
  25. Which version is better? I've heard some bad things about the reliability of the later 410. I agree with wood_jl, the 1010 is a beast. It's so well made, and reliable by computer cassette recorder standards.
