  1. The four bits on bottome are TryWing, not Triangle. But that last one looks nearly triangle, perhaps it might work? My fisher price Record player has trywing screws on the bottome of it, it's 3 slots in a y shape. I want to take it apart because the speaker went out. But my old Matell electronics foot ball and baseball games both have triangle screws, a triangle pressed into the head of the screw. Hey, CPUWIZ, where'd you get those? I only have the 3.8 and 4.5 security bits for taking games apart, and got them off ebay.
  2. Your probably thinking of Pong, the other console released befor the 2600. The odyssey1 was escentually a pong type machine too, so I don't really count that, in fact I count those as the original consoles, befor others. Fairchild on the other hand...didn't that come out in 77 sometime? But it was quickly overshadowed by Atari, even though it did have removable roms as well. I vaguely remember playing Fairchild back in the day, and it nolonger works now, but I still got a few games for it somewhere. If I remember, I liked it, but it was more limited than the 2600, if I remember right.
  3. 2600 come out in 77, right befor christmas. We got one christmas day, that was so fun, I was four. As for Ms Pac-Man, it come out in 82 for the 2600. It single handedly made Pac-Man the 'worst game ever'. Just because people started putting graphics in games and trying to make arcade like ports.
  4. Wow, I wish you could find classic stuff at our pawn shops. The big Flee market is the only place, and only open on saturday, unfortunately.
  5. Woah, I thought that had to be a Pokey or something. I know Anything can do digitized voice, but most 7800 stuff is rather lacking, unless it does have a pokey.
  6. You must have halo. It's an awesome game, though it's not the best looking or most system pushing FPS anymore. It's still the best for fun IMO. Panzer Dragon is a must. And I liked BloodWake, I know it got bad reviews, but it's not bad once you figure it's got sim physics stead of fun physics.
  7. It's not a side scroller, but Spyro's cool IMO, and it's a similar type of game to Sonic/Mario action platformage. Crash is OK, but it's not as good as it could have been.
  8. Their color problems are probably why they started having a lot of "Color only" carts, that would have obviously worked on the original GameBoy. Oh, I thought Moon Patroll was one of the Arcade Classics carts? I heard the color one got a bad review, but I thought there was an earlier one, like with Ms Pac-Man, and Color Ms Pac-Man.
  9. What do all those systems have in common with each other (yes they have something in common) The fact they were first. I'm talking US release here, in other countries, different storys are true (look over at europe, SMS clearly owned NES then) Atari 2600 come out two years befor Intelivision, and nearly 4 befor coleco. Huge fan base by the time the superior consoles come out. Odyssey's superiority is debatable, though it still come out two years after 2600, didn't it?. NES come out a year befor SMS and 7800. Again established fanbase made the difference. They also had the ultimate side scrolling platformer for the time. SNES come out years befor all those disc systems that failed so miserably. This one's weird because Sega Genesis actually beat it by two years. Side note: Genesis initial unpopularity was due to the fact Sega Master System was so poorly supported for only 3 years 86-89. PSX come out a year befor the N64, but was released the same time nearly as Sature (for $100 less) DC didn't even make the 32 bit generation, IMO Side note: Dreamcast could have been the lead of the 128 bit generation, but after abandoning so many previous systems, they scared away any user base they ever had (yeah, consumers can be stupid, but nobody's that stupid, for that long.) PS2, a year advance on both Cube and X-Box, huge established user base already. Add to the fact they were first, the fact that the best games are about game play, and maybe story. And graphics, and characture recognition only help, but are honestly unimportant. And you have the reason they were so popular. Realy, would Super Mario Brows be any less fuy if it was called "Jumping Bob and Bro" How about Super Mario World if it was called "The incrdible adventures of High stoner"? Of course not, it's a great solid game, that's simply fun to play.
  10. I'd be real tempted if I could get that setup for that price. :lol I always wanted Doom and Dukenukem for NeoGeo, but their friggin $300 or so each....Sorry, I'm not that desperate for either. One reason the "technically superior" consoles are mainly hard to collect for is...well, technically superior, useually means technically more expensive. I mean, Everybody haed an Atari, they bought new for $100 or less (unless they bought it pre 80) And all the games the bought for $10-$30. And their not to attached at that price. Then alonge comes the ColecoVision, for what? $400 or something like that, and I don't think any of the games were less than $50. Little price difference. People who paid more, will be less likely to let go.
  11. The thing I hate about SMS is the controller. The NES, if you push right, you go right. Left is left, Up/Right is Up/right, etc, etc, etc... Then you get to the Sega Master System. You push right, and it's just as likely to register up, or down (or left?!!?) for some damn unexplainable reason. That's actually part of the reason I started playing Master system on Genesis, with Genesis controllers, or on GameGear. They worked right, and useually went the direction you pushed, but still not the accuracy of the NES controller. Then the Master System died, It finely hit me, maybe the controllers were fine, but the Master system was bad? So I pulled out the original controllers and plugged them in my genesis, hoping to see an improvement in controll like something was wrong with my MS console. But you know what? It's definately the controlls. Here I am trying to play Sonic, and just as likely as going over, he may look up, or crouch. Back to the Genesis controllers. All five Master System controllers yeilded the same results.
  12. I'd suggest using a small screwdriver, maybe a 00 size flathead? There pretty small. I've seen the triangle screws, and the Trywing screws a few times, but I've never seen any of the drivers for those weird screws.
  13. Cool, you got the color change back in. V 96 is a little hard IMO, because the platforms are so small and so far apart. V98 is better, and the High bounce on a high fall adds quiet a lot of stratigy to the game. It's only getting better
  14. That was a spoof cart someone made up (did they really put a Halloween and TCM rom into it? Or just Photoshop the lable?) As for your question about quotes, look above the person you want to quote's post. The info bar, with the name, to the right is the date, and all the way to the right is "Reply, quote, Igonre" Click the button you want to do, and it goes to reply, with that post quoted. Or you can just copy the section you want to quote, and type [-quote="persons name"-] stuff you want to quote[-/quote-] (Minus dashes, you don't have to put a persons name in either, but can help occasionally.) Hope this helps you out.
  15. I thought you meant bad, as in non functionaing. Yeah, that would blow ass. But as far as sucky games. There's really no excuse in not knowing it's bad, many are out there as roms. But if I was buying for collecting, I probably wouldn't care if a game sucked, I'd want it for rarity. I'm a game player first, and a collector second. It's mildly dissappointing when a game sucks, then again, I tend to pay under $2 for it, so oh well. Then again, I never associated price with quality.
  16. Yeah, the work fine. Unfortunately, they don't work for one player games. Or at least, not on Pong Sports. I was surprised, hooked up the Test Cart, plugged them in, and they not only worked, but were far less jittery than any of my paddle sets. I'll still take them appart and clean everything in them, (cause I wanna look inside anyways ) And I believe I'll build a box to play with two controllers, using the button for the button, rather than the stick for the button. It'll be a cool setup once I get it fixed.
  17. I wasn't aware there was a Pro Action Replay for the Saturn, I thought those went out with the 16 bit consoles. I got one somewhere for SNES, but mainly use GameGenie instead.
  18. Um... The GBA has a lot of great original titles on it (and new games from existing franchises). You just have to look around a bit for them. I don't mean there are no new games. I mean a lot of what Nintendo themselves are releasing are ports. That's what's funny. Personally, I love a lot of the ports, but the games I'm having most fun with are originals. Golden Sun, Dark Arena, Koname Karts (or was that a SNES release?) I'm just kinda peeved they are releasing so many ports, but not the really great ones.
  19. Actually, XBox is based off the most popular game machine of all time
  20. Reminds me of Shuffle Puck Cafe for the ol Amega computer (I think) did the different charactures have different special attacks? I'd like to look into that if so. My bad, I went and looked, these aren't Namco Arcad, it's Arcade Classics, and I think they're all Atari games. Sorry for the confusion. I have (don't remember the numbers) Millipede = Centipede BattleZone = Breakout Asteroids = Missile command Galega = Galaxian I'm looking for the Moon Patroll one, man, I waisted the hours playing that on 2600, and the awesom 5200 versions.
  21. I use Rayovac Renewals though. Their Alkaline (1.5 volt) batteries instead of NMH or NICAD (1.2 volt) They last as long as standard Alkaline batteries, like Energizers or Duracells. But they can be recharged. I use them on Lynx even, it does shorten the life a little, using rechargables instead of standard, but it's less than 30 minutes difference. My GameGear has just been running batteries down in 30 minutes or less, even name brands. It's probably duying, but I found my Gene2 power supply and will be playing it later tonight. 10V .85A Heh, should work though, I'm pretty sure I used it befor.
  22. I have 3 stick stands. One has a box, but it's packed away. I think it's a CBS product, won't swear to that. I have two out cause they were cool, but don't play with them much cause the 2600 sticks are just about shot. I believe one I have out doesn't have the ball top, it dissappeared somewhere. It's probably under the book shelf, cause I know I didn't throw it away, though I got all kinds of people going through here and it might have dissappeared with one of them. They are awesome. The big base is cool, and gives more leverage if your just playing on a desktop instead of holding the stick. And the ball is awesomely cool and comfortable to hold. Believe I paid about $5 each for the things, several years ago. I thought I paid a lot, but I had never seen any befor, so thought it was a great deal.
  23. I know you had to push over (didn't remember wich way, but remember you did), but I meant the Paddle didn't work. Granted I only tried it with Pong sports, it's the only game I had out here that uses paddles, and tried it with the first variation which is one player pong game. The knob simply didn't move the paddle. I guess I should have tried to move the paddle on a two player game instead of going home, but I imagine they're just so dirty, or broken, they just don't work. Another question, since this is an Atari clone.....How do you play two, or four player games on it? Did the Gemini come with controller addaptors, Y cable to hook two controllers to a port, or did it have the second port wired for the second controller's paddle to act like the second controller one paddle, or what?
  24. That sounds easy enough. What about JR atari's? Same thing? I was just wondering because they're soldered in rather than plug in chips, at least on the one I took apart. I don't have to worry to much about that though, as I only have one of those. Thanks for the help. I actually have everything I need for the 2600. But I'm not supposed to use a chip extracter huh? Well, I figure a knife or screwdriver would be easier anyways.
  25. I think this was intended to compare 7800 games to ports on NES, not other systems/computers/arcades.
