  1. I went to the flea market today and picked up a couple new toys: Game Boy Printer: $3 Osprey 500WM Capture Device: $2
  2. I have a nice hoard of Sega systems I've picked up at the flea market over the past several months, but I don't have AC adapters for them. Some items I'm looking to buy are: Sega Genesis model 1 AC adapter (for use with a model 1 Sega CD because I hear they use the same adapters) Genesis model 2 A/V cable (Stereo preferred, but not a big deal) Sega Saturn A/V cable Sega Saturn controller (3D controller preferred, but not a big deal at the moment) Nintendo 64 A/V cable Nintendo Game Boy Pocket link cable (for use with a Game Boy printer) That's what I need. I'm hoping to get as much of it as I can from one seller. I was going to order from collectorscardsandgames.com, but I figured I'd ask around here first.
  3. I'm jelly. I would love to come across a Turbografx in the wild at such a price! You're going to have fun posting in these forums. There are a lot of super cool people around here, and we don't have too much drama.
  4. I didn't watch a video on Youtube, I made a video for Youtube:

  5. I found a really interesting knockoff console at my local Savers for five dollars last night. I haven't been able to find any info about it on the internet yet, but I have been able to figure out a few things: PAL '1,200,000 in 1' Two 9-pin controller ports and one 15-pin controller port Has a cartridge slot which fits Famicom carts It's really cheap and looks to be held together mostly with hot glue. I have to run it through my Aiwa Worldwide VCR to convert the signal to NTSC, but it appears to be working just fine. I'll be checking it out a bit more over the next couple weeks.
  6. I had a pretty amazing day at the flea market today! I wasn't expecting to find anything too great because it's been kind of lousy lately, but I found quite a few cool new toys and even had to pass up on a couple things. The Loot: Sega CD model one with no cables or power adaptor: $8 Suncom 'The Party Quiz Game' controllers: $4 6 in 1 Gameboy game cartridge: $1 Three Laserdiscs (Clockwork Orange, Weird Science, and Se7en [still sealed]): $5 I passed up on a Tandy 102 portable computer which was being sold for eight dollars but didn't have anything else with it and was missing the door to the battery compartment, and an Atari C-380 Video Pinball, which was also eight dollars, because I already have one and I wanted to hold onto some cash in case I came across anything else. All in all, a very good day at the market.
  7. I'd say just buy a cable so that you can hook up your computer to the television and watch your disc images that way. At least that's what I would do if I had one of those new fancy televisions.
  8. I've had a couple of small, fun finds recently. I got a Vivitar 3-in-1 'compact digital camera' with a whopping 16mb of memory(!) for a dollar and a copy of Scream on DIVX for a dollar as well. The DIVX disc is pretty useless, but I like having different formats in my collection, so I was quite excited to come across it. The Other recent find is a Commodore 64 Datasette which my friend found at the flea market the other day and bought for me. It cost five dollars and, most importantly, gives me an excuse to start buying cassette games. Slowly but surely my Commodore is coming together.
  9. Have you been able to test the 3DO yet? It looks like the disc tray has been replaced with one from a DVD drive, so it makes curious. Either way, at least you got an official Panasonic controller out of the deal. When I found my 3DO at my flea market it didn't have the controllers, so I just bought a couple 3rd party controllers (which are much more reasonably priced). The 3DO is definitely a worthwhile system to have. Being able to burn games onto CD-Rs is a huge bonus if you like to try games before (or instead) buying them.
  10. I know Rock Band uses the USB port, and I assume that Guitar Hero does too. Those games seem to be some of the most widely played games among casual players, so I guess it makes sense that they would leave it in if they're focusing on the casual user.
  11. Thanks for posting that. I'm going to go check it out. I did a search for 'Wii Mini' because I didn't want to make a double post, but nothing came up so I started this.
  12. All the non-gamers I know used it for Wii Sports for about the first four or five months and now just use it as a Netflix box.
  13. Personally, I don't like digital stuff anyway. And if I want to surf the web or watch Netflix I'll use my computer because it's much better suited for the experience. My main problem is that it downgraded the video output quality, doesn't have Gamecube support, and still doesn't play DVDs. Actually, the DVD thing is my main problem, mainly because the whole thing about not including DVD playback when they very well could. Personally, I just dislike the Wii in general, and I got worked up after seeing the Wii Mini and started to rant. I'd bo completely okay with it if it were around the $50 price range. The idea that something this downgraded is still $100 kind of irks me.
  14. http://www.eurogamer...wii-mini-review I didn't know this even existed until today, but I'll tell you right now, I think it's terrible. I already had a huge problem with the original Wii as a 'next gen' console because it was vastly underpowered when compared to the competition, could only display in standard definition (personally, I don't care about this because I kind of prefer SD, but I know a lot of people do care about HD), wouldn't play DVDs even though it had the capability to, had dreadful wifi capabilities (in my experience), and it's only selling point was the wacky controllers which were only fun for a couple months before becoming a major hindrance. Now they have a cheaper, brightly-coloured plastic version which has no internet capabilities, still doesn't play DVDs, is only capable of displaying through composite cables, has no SD card slot, and now won't even play Gamecube games. All that and it's still $100 with no pack-in game. The downgrade is baffling to me. I would expect something like this from some shady, Chinese knockoff brand for $45. I would be completely okay with this system if it actually were in the $45-55 rage, because that's what I think it's worth, what with almost all the features removed or toned down to a near minimal level. Hell, $45 for a few months of solid fun is a pretty good deal. I even kind of like that it's made out of plastic. It kind of reminds me of the SNES, and that's kind of nice. All in all, it's not what I would call a jump forward for Nintendo. In fact, I don't see this being a success at all. Nintendo has had a fairly good track record with their consoles, save a couple ambitious gambles which didn't pay off, but this looks pretty terrible. We'll see how long before there's a price drop.
  15. I thought about doing an ISO, but I decided to get a legitimate disc. I remember handling those 95 discs when I was a kid and I want to recreate that experience.
  16. I have a bunch of old games and applications from my youth that I want to use, but our Windows 7 computer won't support 16-bit programs. I've put together a separate computer to run Windows 95. Now all I need is the OS. If anyone has an operating system CD please let me know. This computer has been sitting around for months and I just want to get it finished so I can start using it to play old games and burn floppies for my Atari ST.
  17. Psst! Try putting some of it in the freezer after you pop it and try it that way. That's my preferred method of preparing popcorn.
  18. I'm not going to count the nine minutes of the Wii U game I played because I was forced into that. Nox (PC) Ocarina of Time (N64) Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse (Genesis)
  19. Oh shit. Better go rifle through the Burning Pile next to the fireplace. EDIT: There were four things I missed. I guess I got too excited after finding that heart valve and forgot to thrust my hand into the unknown. This is great! I only had two Genesis games before this, and I didn't even like one of them. I'm excited to give them all a try! I guess I also have one more reason to get a Lynx. MrBland, I salute you. You went far beyond what I ever expected. You have brightened my day and I hope your holiday season is a fantastic one. You are a wonderful human being.
  20. Woaaaaaaaaah! Here we go! I went out to get the mail today and I found a package with my name on it. No way, I thought. It's only been a few days. Yes way. My Rescue Ranger went way beyond the call of duty and spent $24.45 to ship my package so it would arrive before Christmas. That's dedication, and I bow before you. What's more, there was a nice handwritten card and all these nicely wrapped gifts inside which, when opened, revealed a whole slew of vinyl records which I don't have already. My 45 collection has always been lacking, and now I have a nice little stack of great 45s from amazing bands like The Talking Heads, Van Halen, The Rolling Stones, and more! In addition to all the great music I received an Atari Lynx game. Now I have five games and no system, so I think I should look into getting a Lynx (no complaints here). I also received a baggie of candy (including Snickers Peanut Butter Bars, which I'd never tried before) and a mechanical heart valve (expired, but still fully functional, I've been assured). I want to thank my Rescue Ranger for doing this. It means a lot to me that you went through so much effort for someone you've never met. Thank you, and Merry Christmas (unless you don't celebrate Christmas, then it's Happy Holidays)! I have some photos below. I had to take them with my phone because my Mavica is at my friend's house and I was too impatient to wait, so the quality is probably kinda low. I don't know, I never use my phone's camera. Maybe they look okay.
  21. I love having physical items too. I'm very traditional in my tastes for media. I go out of my way to avoid downloads if I can. If I can buy something in a form where I can hold it, I will always go for that. I personally like cartridge games and never much cared for discs because carts are so rugged. If I had my way we'd be using carts again, but I don't see that happening, so I would opt for an SD card instead of a disc or download if I had to purchase something in digital form. That is, of course, unless they were to have Dreamcast backward capabilities, which I would love. If they would release a system which would play Dreamcast discs I would have no problem whatsoever with the system being disc-based. I definitely agree that having physical copies is the way to go. I don't like the idea of everything being download only in the future, but I see things going that way. At least we'll always have the old consoles and games we can play, eh?
  22. I think it would be a better financial move to have the basic HDD be 100GB, the advanced be 200 instead of 250GB, and then 350GB for the elite. Instead of having the 150GB jump from basic to advanced and a smaller 100GB jump up to elite it would make more sense to have the larger jump from advanced to elite with the same markup as it was from basic to advanced. That way people will feel like they get 50GB more free if they purchase the elite model. It's like sodas at fast food places. It will be a 50¢ increase from small to medium, but only 25¢ to go from medium to small, so the customer buys a large feeling like they got the best deal, and the fast food joint gets a shitload of profit because soda is insanely cheap. That's just my thinking. Also, if they're not going to have Dreamcast backward capabilities I'd say just do without discs altogether. I'd rather buy games on SD cards or something like that which won't get scratched. Actually, as long as I'm fantasizing, I would say no Netflix or any of that shit on my console. I want my game systems to be devoted to games and games only. No TV tuner, no apps, no Hulu or Neflix or any other movie service. If I wanted to be watching movies I wouldn't be using my game console, I'd be using a computer which is more powerful and will be better able to stream or download what I want to watch. Besides, nearly every other device out there does that stuff, so why would we need another one? Oh, now that I think about it, no gimmicky controllers. The Wii was fun for about two months, then it was just annoying. The Wii U looks to be about the same, but is only good for solo playing because of the expensive controller. I played a multiplayer game on that thing and, guess what? the person with the fancy controller won 80% of the time. I hate touch screens and I hate interactive motion gaming. I want a nice controller that works and which I can get for $20 or less. This is a lot longer than I was expecting. I was just going to comment on the HDD thing, but I got all passionate about it and kept writing. I would love to see a new Sega Console which remained true to its roots. I loath the consoles out today.
