  1. ...and it's called android smartphone... even some hacked roms / pirate games are working correctly. And what about Dosbox on PSP? Can it handle at least some 386 games like Commanche, Colonization, Prehistorik 2, Lotus 3?
  2. I've got Xperia J and despite satisfying emulation's quality (Nes, Amiga 500, Snes, Megadrive is almost perfect , MAME, N64 and PSX a bit worse but it depend of what game you're trying to run) the touch controls just suck ass! I decided to change it here're the options: should I buy some cotroller (which one?) or just gain PSP (which model)? I know that regular PSP crushes the smartphone ones but if I want just to play some emulated ones... PS costs matter
  3. I don't condemn internet, it's a great medium and its existance is a miracle but I try show also negative influence - you gain something on the one side but on the other there're some losses. It's not like there weren't walkthroughs in the past but i-net made them too easy to find - especially in their video form. Living adult life (having not so much time for games) enforces players to search shortcuts just to avoid being stuck in game (= loosing time) and it ruins any try to focus on game - and there is when net appears with its facilitation which is hard to defy. At least I can't discipline myself enough...
  4. Nowadays, when internet is widely available with all this tubes, forums etc. a lot of gaming magic is gone. There is no longer 'mystery' in games, endings aren't as rewarding as they used to be, there's no place for game rumours of the past. Multiple endings was the way to make people replay the game and now there's is no point in doing that due to youtube's walkthroughs library. I miss the times when Mortal Kombat II was still fresh one and there were many speculations about hidden figthers, finishing moves and other secret content around - there was magic in it! And it's almost impossible now. Internet has also spoiled players with his load of game solutions - I've already gave up with whole adventure games genre beacause of this ubiquitous walkthroughs temptation that is hard do overcome. I feel like we've lost something in gaming, all stuff are too common and there's no place for more 'personal' exeprience. It's just me or...?
  5. http://hi.baidu.com/maxzhou88/blog/item/85406c24240377128744f9cd.html I'm done with few levels and find it definately playable, good port, check this out!
  6. Jaguar suffers from lack of rpg games so there would be cool to have some port of one of the best of them. Since it has been created as 2D powerhouse, is it possible to bring both Fallouts? Their demnand quite low PC specs but anyway, is it still in Jag's range? I mean - JagCD of course and its not necessary to do 100% perfect PC port but at least decent one.
  7. No, it's not only about gore, play some censored ports and you'll find quite good and unique gameplay even without blood and fatalities. Try to catch some pros - MK created new sub-genre in fighting games, call it 'american' (or 'non japanese') fighting game so it introduced much more variety. There are few MK's follow'ups which are at last decent e.g. Primal Rage, Pray For Death, Xenophage or Killer Instinct and compare it to the current state when marked is dominated in 99,9% by japanese-styled games. I have to add Tomb Raider which brought us flood of crappy third person perspective titles with half-naked chicks (Deathrap Dungeon anyone? Really awful).
  8. Half-Life / Deus Ex - both started 'cinematic fps' era where there's a domination of plot, cut-scenes etc. over the gameplay, it seemed to be natural proggression of genre but they gave it an impact. They've pushed fps games far away from its core, bot being a bad ones but in fact they're partially responsible for shooters becoming some strange hybrid of movie and video game. Goldeneye 007 / Turok / Halo - they 'consolized' (in this case - 'dumbed down') the first person shooter mechanics by introducing (most of all) checkpoint system and health regeneration (Halo), I wouldn't mind that if they didn't affected majority of fps but they did and long-awaited Duke Nukem Forever is their biggest victim :/ Street Fighter 2 : CE - it caused a mania of producing the same fighting game over and over again, the number of SF2 updates is ridiculous and there are still 3 SF3 games too similar to each other, 3 Alpha games, bunch of Capcom crossovers... Such endless recycling causes brand's devalution, the same with Mortal Kombat 3 - Ultimate - Trilogy.
  9. It could compete and even win with mighty Super Mario Kart but: 1. Collisions with environment stop your cart instead of slowing down (that's so annoying) 2. It lacked power-ups which could give game a boost- like invincibilty bonus, some missles, speed-ups etc. Anyway, it still an awesome racer and Jaguar needed more exclusive games with Atar Karts' quality.
  10. Comparing games library IMHO 3DO owns Jaguar. I've been always into fighting games and fps so: - even if 3DO Doom is unplayable there are still equal Wolf 3D port and Space Hulk: VOBA is better than AvP - both Primal Rage ports are equal but Jag has only nice Ultra Vortek and total crap Kasumi Ninja and Fight For Life. 3DO offers Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo (propably best 2D fighting game ever) and Samurai Showdown (eeh, all this cash spent on coin ups) - K.O. PS. It's a shame that both consoles lacked any Mortal Kombat game :/ I'm sure they're able to handle with arcade-perfect MK ports.
  11. No, in late AvP PC games there are some Alien/Predator hybrids, Cyber Aliens etc. Rebellion could add more human characters (like officers? Civilians?). The same problem had Gloom on Amiga. I understand your point and also find Alien vs Predator an first person shooter and survial horror clash like PC AvP's and Doom 3 rather than classic Doomz (which were about total destruction), I've just compared it to the best old fpp games... and AvP is failing so far :/ It's still a good game with some potential and nice atmosphere but also too repetitive and unbalanced (so slow alien, wtf? This part is barely playable).
  12. AvP is claimed to be one of thy best Jaguar games. However, I find it very disappointing. Endless maze of corridors, small variety of enemies, too slow gameplay, nice-looking sprites being destroyed by poor animation... complete boredom. What are the AvP's strong points you would mentioned to convince the player to finish this game with all characters? PS. I'm not Halo or Gears of War fanboy, fps from 90' are awesome for me but so far AvP isn't a worthy rival for Doom, Quake, Strife or Hexen - it's kinda like Amiga's fps level of quality (Genetic Species, Breathless, Gloom).
