  1. I've never hacked/modded a GBA or NDS, but they can be. I'd particularly recommend that you mod the NDS instead of the GBA, if you're going to. But this is the only way to play the original Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! on those consoles, as official versions replaced "Iron Mike", with a character named "Mr. Dream". If you own a PSP, even better to mod, imo. I have a modded one, and have MTPO on it.
  2. I know this isn't a hack of an official Final Fantasy game, it's a Chinese bootleg. But I think it's fitting and worth posting. So here's the Final Fantasy VII NES English Translation Project ROM (actually a whole pack of various versions of it - including an NES2GBA Demo...an oddity for sure lol). This game has its fair share of haters. But I love it, and would buy a cart of the Final English translation in a heartbeat! Final Fantasy VII NES ROM Pack: http://www.mediafire.com/download/k1n2iywhipc93ci EDIT: I hate it when I don't notice that a thread is old, and I bump it! Oh well. Might as well leave the ROM pack up. The damage is done lol.
  3. Yeah too bad Ninty didn't include those, but yeah the gameplay is all there, like ya said. Ah I see. Thanks for clarifying that. Yeah there's really never been a perfect arcade port (though it's been technically possible). It's a shame too. But even still there's been some really great ports nonetheless. And I guess I just really like and prefer the 25th Anniversary Edition of NES DK.
  4. Agreed. To be fair though, it was my opinion. I had mentioned this elsewhere: "Imo, it is the best home port ever released and most faithful to the arcade original.". Just forgot to include again, what I thought was also obvious (that it's my opinion). Anyways, I guess I gotta choose my words even more carefully next time! Anywho... Most importantly I got to share what I think is an awesome port of the game. @youki, Yeah the graphic/art-style is great, and it's a lot of fun! I really like Classic Kong.
  5. Nothing very much noteworthy (with some exceptions), unfortunately. I do own, from my wife, an Atari 2600 woodgrain that needs some cleaning and mild restoration. As far as much else, things, well disappear sometimes. I do still have my OG Xbox still on factory FW in the box (waiting to be modded). I also have an NES Classic GBA SP sealed in a box. I have sone other cool sh*t, but not as much as I wish I'd still had.
  6. Yeah I have, and think it's really good! Not exactly faithful, but it's in some great ways. Here's the ROM to the latest version, in case anybody wants it: [sNES] Classic Kong Complete [v2.01] (U): http://www.mediafire.com/download/9zxvef5v3bg2s1r I also wanna check out that Tandy CoCo version, but so far I've had trouble getting the Disk image to run on my PSP's Dragon emu. Oh, and my anticipation for the final version of Joe Musashi's D.K. VCS is through the roof!
  7. Hey I know this is old. But I recently found out that the official NES version with the pie/cement factory was included in a 2010 25th Anniversary Ninty release. I can't tell you how excited I was, but wasn't sure if it had been dumped or not. I looked for quite awhile, and even came across your blog the other day Satoshi, but it wasn't up there for download. Later on that day I finally found it!!! I can't begin to tell you how excited I was and still am. Imo, it is the best home port ever released and most faithful to the arcade original. I decided to include a DL here for anybody interested, and that may also be having trouble tracking it down. I also included a hack, based off of the 25th Anniversary Edition, that allows you to play as Pauline (aka Princess Toadstool/Peach), that a father made for his daughter. She wanted to play Donkey Kong as Pauline and rescue Mario . Enjoy, what is, the definitive home console port of the beloved classic: http://www.mediafire.com/download/408nty83n1az989
  8. Not Atari related, but I plan on buying that Computer Space/Pong Colecovision bundle (if any are available still).
  9. That's def cool. I'd have to buy something like this for when a get a new, actual 2600 console again. I always loved the 2600's games, but at the same time, always hated the joystick control input. That's why I prefer to play my 2600 games on emulators. My console of choice atm is the PSVita. I really like its analog sticks, it's got a pretty good Sony D-Pad and buttons (not their best, but def nice). Plus it's portable. Also 2600 games look great on the screen, and they control nice with the inputs (especially the analog stick). All me acquiring a new 2600 will be about is collctor's and nostalagia's sake.
  10. Sent PM here, and email at the website. Ready to order now...like right NOW! XD
  11. This is a really cool project! Thanks for sharing this.
  12. I'd like to reserve the next available cartridge. If a colored cart version becomes available, please put me down for one of those instead. As it stand it looks like I'm #113.
  13. Thanks for sharing this. Looking forward to checkin' it out!
  14. Awesome man. Gonna try to make sure I get in on it! This is easily one of my favorite 2600 games.
  15. Hey Chris, thank yoi so much for releasing these ROMs for free, and I tip my hat to you for this very special, wondeful technical acheivemnt, as well as a peice of art in my book. I regret missing out on a boxed copy. Hopefully there are future pressings though.
  16. Chris or Al, Do either of you have any plans right now of a second batch of boxed copies to go into production. By the time I was ready to order this very special game, the boxed copies were unfortunately sold out . And I can't stand buying any video game of any sort without the official box/case. I just won't bother anymore. I've bought two 2600 homebrew games within the last year and a half, and neither had the box, and I just wasn't fully satisfied. Oh, and until then...can't wait for the full ROM release! I found this game so special and impressive, that I had to show the demo to my wife, who likes video games a great deal. But she is far from being as impressed and geeked about this wonerous piece of artistic amazement as I am. This thing is right up there with Halo 2600 to me, which is saying a lot. Can't wait to see what Chris does with his "Sonic" game!
  17. While playing on old Atari hardware is nostalgic for me, I'd much rather play the games via ROMs on an emulator. Emulators offer so many more options, and the games look amazing on my PSVita's 5" OLED screen. Plus the analog stick is a nice touch. I also have enjoyed playing the games on my laptop with a DualShock 3, but honestly the games look a lot better on my Vita's screen. Oh, and thanks for sharing this ROM set .
  18. Awesome to hear! I was really impressed with the demo. Any word on the full ROM? I'm planning on getting the CIB version.
  19. ^I had the puzzle pieces, but didn't have them together properly lol. I had long thought that the VCS launched with the PONG cart.
  20. That's it then it looks like. I had always been under the belief that the original Pong was what started "Atarimania" when it launched as a home console. Guess not. Ya know what I'm probably thinking of the dedicated Pong Atari console. You're not gonna tell me now that this never existed?! lol
  21. I always thought PONG was a launch title. Hmm.
  22. Of the ones that I remember, gotta go with Combat. I had a ton of fun with that one back in the day. Simple and addictive game with a ton of gameplay variations.
  23. Yeah sure have played the original. My introduction to the the game may have been the 2600 version though. I know it's not nearly as good, but I still find it a pretty fun game, and think it was a good "demake" of the superior arcade/NES version. I tend to focus more on what was there with that port, than what was missing (plus a bit of nostalgia thrown in). I actually booted it up today, and had fun for 10 mins or so hah.
  24. This would be a great hack. Hope to see it done one day.
