i can't really see from that picture, but i have a cx-40 looking joystick that has "gemini" embossed on the top and "vg-170" embossed on the lower right corner. i thought at first it was a standard looking stick for the gemini system, but later found out that it was its own company that made atari controllers. i actually have it up for sale in this auction; here's a better picture of it:

i was testing a 2600 jr that i'm planning on putting on ebay, and as i was going through carts to check on it, i decided to see if the burgertime cart that i have with a bad eprom (i can feel the weight difference, and the graphics and sound are messed up) was still alive or not. it was, and for curiousity's sake, i tried it on a pirate 2600 jr i have with 32 games built in. (one that CPUWIZ is intimately familiar with. ) i guess i shouldn't have been surprised to see a difference in the performance between the legit and pirate hardware, but i thought the difference was interesting. first, the legit jr: one note continually beeps over and over, peter pepper can't leave the top level, the hot dog is misshaped and the buns continually fall down. and on the pirate: nothing happen no matter what you do, just the silent screen. for the heck of it, i tried the spider fighter-labeled cart i have that is actually seaquest inside. (the label is lifted at the end, but there is no sign that the cart has been opened.) it would not boot at all on the legit jr, but came up immediately w/o problem on the pirate. nothing earth-shattering, but just some little weirdness that i thought i'd share.

so no material stolen from atari age in this new model's documentation then?

i really need to clear stuff out, help me, won't you? for free(!): 2 triga-command joysticks for the 2600: CLAIMED! made by electra concepts, rated an 8 over at the digital press; unfortunately these don't work very well. one only moves to the left, fires and has "triga-command" written on top; the other works exactly opposite as it should in terms of left-right and up-down, doesn't fire, and has "triga-command" written on the bottom. whoever wants one and PMs me their address gets one. i just want to make sure they end up with people who will appreciate them. odyssey 2: loose conquest of the world. again, just shoot me your address if you want this. CLAIMED! $5 shipped section: a "captain grant" joystick for the 2600-the base fire button doesn't do anything, top fire button works fine. i think this is the one he's talking about... i've seen the same one in a vg store here in l.a., and it says it does come with a converter, but not with a multi-cart, which quickly quenched my interest.

and to think i was much more excited about the cart i found it with... i'm not looking to part with it at the moment, but i certainly know where to go when/if that time comes. good luck to all in the meantime!

something like that can happen every once in a while. years and years ago i found 15 sealed nes caltron 6 in 1s in a box at a thrift store for $30 (i really wish i had had a digital camera at the time, would have made a hell of a pic.). i figured a video store had dumped stock or something. i traded and ebayed like a king for a while. another time i came across 10 or so brand new 2600 warlords at a thrift. like it has been said, sometimes toy stores or video stores wind up with overstock and don't know what else to do with them.

especially when i saw it as the "did you know" factoid when i logged onto the atari age home page just now.

i'd say this would be the auction to be asking the question "WHO is nfarj?" about...

if anyone's interested, i have a boxed PAL commando i'm looking to get rid of, the catch being that there is a big rip on the back and side of the package. for $5 it can be all yours. the front looks fine, with just a slight rip on the right side (continuation of the spine rip)

ah well, i told ya it didn't seem to be any different. still dig it as a cool little piece of behind-the scenes video game history. that got there *fast*.

i found this in a box of games i got from a thrift a while ago and have always been a little curious about it. for those who would know, is this what a typical telesys production board would look like, with the name and date and what looks like "ref" (reference?) written on? playing through it, it doesn't seem to be different from the regular fast food i have. thanks in advance.
