  1. Tempest, I really don’t give a crap that you are a moderator of the board. You really are dense if by this point you actually think that a CTIA 800 is actually worth something. You have taken the issue too far. 1400XLs and 1450XLDs are rare, so are 1090XLs and 815 drives ASTRA Big "D"s etc. 800s with CTIAs art worth crap... never have been and never will be..... Period dot. ( I was there when the CTIA 800s were being upgraded in the service centers to GTIAs... we couldent get rid of thoes CTIAs fast enough.) A second account? Do I have a second account.....??!? DELETE it..... What’s your point? Didn't I say very clearly in other posts that I used to visit this board years ago?!?!?//// well....?? Perhaps I forgot all about it? SMOKE IT.. What do I care.....!! Dude... NAM is over... it’s OK>> really... you need to chill on me I am not the enemy...... Besides,, can’t you read,,,, What business do you have mouthing off to me like that when you are too lazy to verify my story with davidcalgary29 and Christopher Strong? You do not deserve to be a moderator of this board..... You appear to at least as big a trouble maker as jtoubeaux You also have a short memory and do not folow up with any reaserch before fireing off false accuations. Take some advise from my Grandpa,,,, and quit while you are "behind". You are supposed to set the example.......... Topaz
  2. Oh, and as far as jtoubeaux’s “yard sale” comment is concerned. Are you serious? If the 800 had a GTIA,, we all KNOW its worth about $70. Offering $30-$40 is EXACTLY in line with what it is worth after I have to spend time and money buying and installing a GTIA chip from BEST. Seriously,,, I didn’t even really need that unit! I was just something to do; I was SERIOUSLY just trying to help a brother out.. Folks around here seem to have serious trust issues…. It’s sad… You need to have a talk with davidcalgary29.. (Whom I just sold the Falcon to) and Chris Strong (whom I traded the 1090XL and 1400XL with ) to remind yourselves that not every person on this board is some kind of scheming bastard… Topaz
  3. The answer to that is YES and the NIB Falcon was sold to davidcalgary29 He just verified delivery today.... Too bad there were too many nay-Sayers so they missed out on ONE OF THE LAST NEW FALCONS ON PLANET EARTH... for only $500.... Go ahead.... send him a message...... All I am saying is that after 30 years of collecting Atari equipment, I have NEVER heard anyone make a fuss about a CTIA 800.....ever.... If it is worth more than a normal 800, well that would be the FIRST time I have EVER heard of that... That’s because ( it’s not RARE and it not a PROTOTYPE,, its actually classified as a "defect" the CTIA was never supposed to be in the A8 it was a stopgap until the GTIA was finished.) Too bad this sale got ruined by all the loose lips, I was ready to drop up to $40 for that 800 via PayPal that same day...BAM... Now.. whatever...
  4. Artifacting is more than a cosmetic issue it’s used to create colors in hi rez mode. The CTIA has a different AF colors due to the pixel shift and sometimes it causes objects to be invisible or partially invisible. Go ahead a try to play DROL on a CTIA, and then tell me it doesn’t mater. Yea-Yea, bash on a typo, whatever, 80x192 GTIA modes..... But don’t forget about the VERY important Graphics 7 1/2,,,,, that is 160*192 the CTIA has an issue with... See what I mean...... Can’t wait for this to go up on EBay.... Don’t forget to explain all about the CTIA on eBay.... ignorance my ass....
  5. Rybags, Sorry to correct you, but you obviously do not understand the differences between the CTIA and the GTIA. The CTIA cannot generate any of the 160*192 GTIA modes and has different artifacting qualities. The CTIA was only released during introduction for just 1 year and then replaced; it was as a stopgap because the GTIA was always what the unit was meant to have. This CTIA has GROSS implications for compatability... it WILL affect NO LESS than 97%-98% of all games and certainly no less than 99.5% of ALL DEMOS....AND NO LESS than 75-80% of ALL OTHER Software. PERIOD..DOT... Want Proof.?..... SIMPLE... if the machine has a CTIA... IT most likely also has the 800 OS v A !!! GO ahead and try ruining ANY,, and I mean ANYTHING with ATARI800WIN PLUS with the OS set to 800 OS ver A and CTIA and watch what happens... Does it have 800 OS B??.. Fine same thing try it .... Been watching EBAY for Atari stuff since Ebay it was invented... Name me one 800 that sold based on the fact it was equipped with a CTIA... ........that’s what I thought...... CTIA 800s are NOT collectable, and never were….. Topaz
  6. Anything special about this 800? any memory upgrades? or mods? topaz777
  7. The unit is almost worthless without a GTIA chip. A GTIA would have to be installed before the unit could be used/useful for just about any purpose. This would involve buying a GTIA chip from BEST then completely ripping the 800 apart, installing the chip and reassembling. I am one of the few people that would be willing to go through all this for an 800. I will offer you $25 + (Ground Shipping) right now for it.---- Provided that you can post a picture of the unit working... Thank you! Topaz777
  8. The "Happy Controller" was an upgrade that was done after the "Happy" upgrade. It added another circuit board in the drive that held the 2 switched and LED status light that enabled you to turn the "Happy mode" on and off on the fly and disable/enable the write protect. Here is the link to the 1050 Controller wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Computers
  9. All please take a closer look at my original mint 1050 HD post. These are not just "happy drives" The "Happy controller" is not the "happy upgrade" The Controller is SEPERATE and optional it was done -after- the Happy and added the chrome switches on front. The "Controllers" are RARE the Happy is not.... Steve
  10. The Location is Virginia the price is $150 EA Why $150,,, a) The "Happy controller upgrade” is NOT the "Happy upgrade, they are 2 seperate things. The controler upgrade was done AFTER the Happy upgrade and their not available anywhere anymore. b) You can get a clone "happy drive" board from Atarimax for $40, but you cant get the optional "controler" from anyone.... c) Don’t forget the drives themselves, their mint.... Just a pair of "mint" 1050s is still worth min $60 ea... + the Happys $40.. that makes them work min $100 ea.... Add in the totally unobtainable Genuine happy "enhancer switch" upgrades and then, well... $150ea is a complexly fair price…. I could probably get $200 ea. on eBay buy I dislike dealing with eBay and would prefer to stay in house.. Steve
  11. This Thread has been viewed 126 times! And no replys? Is anyone interested in buying these drives?
  12. I am selling my 1050 super drives. A matched pair of Mint, GENUINE 1050 Happy Drives with optional Genuine Happy Controller upgrade! They come with the original Docs, switch placards and software. Perfectly preserved and perfectly working 100% electronically, mechanically and cosmetically. The switches allow you to turn the Happy mode on/off on the fly and enable/disable the write protect on the fly so you no longer have to notch disks and you can write to "master disks" without notching them... very handy. They have been lightly used (as I have other "workhorses") and spin at 288RPM just as they should. I know that even a "mint" Happy drive usually goes for $125-$150 nowadays, BUT... Finding a matched pair in this condition with GENUINE "Happy Controllers" installed...... Would be like finding a box of new AXLON 128K memory cards for an Atari 800!..... In other words..... R.A.R.E.... BTW.. I have the above AXLON board too... Steve
  13. There is always 1 Royal A$$ in the crowd and we have found him. Now I remember why I haven’t bothered with forms in so long. Since you have just proven to be nothing more than a skilled banterer that likes to hear his head roar; deliberately overlooking specific statements and then twisting around other statements just to give everyone the illusion that you know actually know what you are taking about… 2 can play at that game: AH. Example #1: “culture of abuse" on these forums” You knew very well that we were talking about forms in general and so did everyone else. (Argumentative filler). Example #2: “people respond with skepticism and caution” etc…. Since you NEVER EVEN GAVE ME A CHANCE to EXPLAIN to you HOW the computer was going to change hands in a safe manner before YOU began this nonsense. (Try not to whip it out and step on it so fast next time. (More (Argumentative filler). Example #3: “Turning to your biography, it has no relevance that you are in the military…….bla.bla..” Having fun hiding behind your anonymity? I was doing nothing more than being honest friendly and truthful about who I was and trying to instill some confidence in the prospective buyers. Also, get your facts straight!: I did not “bring it up”.. This information was simply on the bottom of my first post and OTHERS began to abuse the information. Yourself included. Thank you for reminding all of us that no good deed goes unpunished. Example #4 I love this one! You spent so much time crafting this paragraph to make it appear that actually know what you’re talking about. Watch me take this one apart too. “As for your A+ certification, it is similarly irrelevant.” The A+ cert is the KEYSTONE REQUIRMENT certification of EVERY major component of Client Service Computing! Client Systems, Infrastructure support, Server Support. Etc…. If you knew anything about IT in general, you would have never made this statement, you obviously don’t have the A+ cert. I have built @5500 custom PC in my career and I have seen HUNDREADS of damaged PCs that were damaged or destroyed by simpletons like you that were trying too “follow simple instructions”. In the real world (where you should join us), NO one would EVER let someone that was not a certified technician, open their PC and work on it. Everyone ….everyone….. got this but you….. “”Contrary to your assertions, you opened the computer and used it for 5-6 hours”” Contrary to your IGNORANCE.. ALL new PC are ‘burnt in tested” for several hours or several days, before they are then sold AS NEW….. even Best Electronics does this to the NIB 130XEs before they are then sold as NEW. The unit IS NEW and will be sold as NEW. Stop insulting the board’s intelligence! We are ALL AWARE that these are vintage electronics and they are being sold that way.. everyone understands this…apparently, except YOU the board does not need you to explain this to all of us. Example #5: “The fact that you don't have a PayPal account”…….bla ….bla…bla As the rest of the board laughs at you again for your ignorance… SON…… how did the PLANET conduct transactions like this before eBay and PayPal? I shall refresh your memory; it’s called a “personal check” and or “certified mail” and a “real home address” and “certified money orders that can only be cashed by the receiver with legal ID”. ETC...ETC.. ALL OF WHICH HAVE DIRECT AND SERIOUS REPRECUTIONS FOR FRAUD THAT THE REAL POLICE WILL BECOME DEIRCTLY INVOLVED IN. PayPal is a JOKE! Who would EVER use that C#%P that the cops don’t care about….. But with my way, a bad deal is called …MAIL FRAUD….. ONCE AGAIN PRETENDING TO HAVE WISDOM…. (HOW OLD ARE YOU ANYWAYS?.) Example #6: MORE PSUDO WISDOM… wow….. You obviously have never been involved in sales before. “The fact that you own or have owned other rare Atari hardware” etc….etc.. Once again you need to be instructed in HOW TO READ. Go back and re-read that part of the original post. EVERYONE ELSE GOT THIS BUT YOU. The intension of the comments I made was to provide a REAL WORLD VERIFIABLE REFERENCE that people on this board COULD ACTUALLY VERIFY. People on this board can ACTUALLY email Christopher Strong; he is a reference to how I can be trusted…..WHEN I SHIPPED Chris his 1090XL, HE SHIPPED ME THE 1400XL. OMFG!!!! WHAT!! NO EBAY!!, NO PAYPAL! WTF IS THE WORLD COMING TO!!!!?!?!?! I'm sorry, but your BLENTLY IGNORANT pseudo-intellectual posts make it clear that there is something very wrong with you. Other forum members are free to respond as they wish to this sales solicitation, but just based on your contributions to date, I would recommend staying far, far away from you.
  14. bojay1997, I just got around to catching up with this thread; you need to read more carefully. (You missed the entire point) There was absolutely nothing arrogant about my A+ certification statement, I was making a specific point....... THAT the internal IDE HDD was CAREFULLY installed by a person that is trained to work on exectronics without dammaging them and not by some joker off the street. That was my ONLY intension in making that statement. You are also incorrect about my user name, if you had ACTUALLY gone back at the old posts; you will see that my user name IS THE SAME. You simply do not know what you are talking about. In the future try to resist getting dragged into bashing an innocent person by being a lemming and following people like save 2600. Also, yes, I am old school about monitorial transactions; I do not have a PayPal account because my wife had her identity stolen and so we have avoided maintaining an internet presence as a result. There are other ways to verify the honestly of a delivery stop thinking so 2-demintally. Until I read the thread I was about to give save2600 the mailing address of my actual workplace at my unit at Langley AFB. What’s the worry about!!!! Do you have ANY IDEA how much trouble I could get into by defrauding a civilian!!!! Did that even occur to any of you! No! Because people like save 2600 are part of the culture of abuse within that forums. What do you expect from a jaded burn out who has diluted himself into thinking his opinion is actually important because he has been monitoring this board for a few years?... so what… Tired of hearing about it. And his worthless self-important statements. Has he ever gotten his hands on a 1400XL or a 1090…? No???? So he is just a lightweight…… with a big mouth..
