  1. I think the idea of this topic is to name games that star the people themselves, not their characters. Not to nitpick or anything
  2. I picked up Pokemon Yellow just to see what all the fuss was about but I couldn't get into it. I just foresaw a lot of walk around and talk to people->battle->collect pokemon->walk around s'more->battle->collect more pokemon->ad nauseum Does that pretty much sum it up or is there something I'm missing?
  3. I'm still waiting for some games I don't already own. Besides the TG16 games, I have 99% of the others in one form or the other (cart, compilation, etc.). Can anyone recommend any of the TG16 games? I understand R-Type is a good one, but I'm not much into shooters. I'll probably end up getting Bonk's Adventure unless something more compelling comes out soon...
  4. You can play as Michael Jackson in Moonwalker. It seems as though the only nonfictional people in games (besides sports titles) are musicians. Unless you count those Mary Kate and Ashley games, which just popped into my head for no apparent reason
  5. I feel the same way. It's neat to get stuff for free but somehow you don't appreciate it as much. The games I fire up on my CC2 are usually games I already have a cartridge of. Go figure. I guess that's why it's called "getting your money's worth".
  6. The games that impressed me have already been mentioned... - Solaris (I bought this solely based on the description and pics on the back of the box and I wasn't disappointed) - Space Shuttle (Lots of depth. And using the console switches really made it feel more like a simulator) - California Games (I was amazed by the title music and BMX racing)
  7. Alpine Games really deserves to be in every Lynxers collection. You should put it first on your list. Yeah I will. Gotta let the wallet heal from the holiday sale first!
  8. Here's how I keep a working relationship with GameStop/EBGames: 1 - Do most of your shopping in the last-gen games bin 2 - Occasionally buy a used current-gen game if the price seems right 3 - Never trade in games 4 - Never buy anything new 5 - Wash your hands after you leave
  9. Have you tried playing Medieval Mayhem? Mine fired up as well but I couldn't start a game. Pressing the fire button on the paddle would show the game field for a second then it'd go back to the main/options screen. Lady Bug would black out after the "ROM OK/RAM OK" screen (accompanied by a not-so-pleasant tone). Sometimes it would make it to the title screen but only for a second or two. Pac-Man Collection! exhibited rectangular graphical glitches at the title screen and in-game. I tried a maze and it seemed to play okay. Emehr, the problem youre having with MM...is that on the 7800 or 2600? And if its a 2600, what model? (Vader, heavy sixer, etc...) Medieval Mayhem and Lady Bug both play fine on my 4-switch woody. It's my 7800 that's giving me the trouble.
  10. I just get the games I'll play I'm at 37, just need a few more... Dracula: The Undead Electrocop Ishido Shanghai Wouldn't mind snagging Alpine Games too.
  11. I don't get it. are you a geologist? Megaman is called Rockman in Japan. Megaman is a geologist? j/k
  12. I'd love to learn Lynx programming as well. I've taken a glance at the compiler tools and it made my head spin. I haven't sat down yet to try and absorb it. Here's a link I found via Google. This page has links to other Lynx programming pages (including the compiler). (how many times can I say Lynx/links?) EDIT: I guess it'd help to actually add the Lynx link (damn there I go again!) http://jum.pdroms.de/lynx/lynxprog.html
  13. Have you tried playing Medieval Mayhem? Mine fired up as well but I couldn't start a game. 14. Mine is one of the 7800s that doesn't work with PMC, Medieval Mayhem, or Lady Bug. I've tried all three ROMs with my CC2 and, curiously, they work fine on that. I'm not sure though, if the ROMs are the same build as what's on the carts. My 7800 has the expansion port, if that makes any difference.
  15. AHA!!! Okay, wow...The dogs are barking next door but at least I get it now!
  16. Emehr's just a randomly generated name from a name generator table I made years ago. It was either that or Quogidu, but that sounds too much like "doggy doo". NE146...Anyone for 6?...I still don't get it! (drops head to table in shame)
  17. News flash, the Atari 2600 would be $700 in todays dollars. I hate this reasoning. If, back in the late 70s/early 80s, purchasing an Atari 2600 (what was it $200? $250?) was equivalent to shelling out $700 today, I can almost bet that many of us here wouldn't have had one back in the day. At the very least I'm absolutely certain that my parents wouldn't have put one under our X-mas tree back in the day if this were true. Makes me wonder what the NEO-GEO or 3DO would be in todays dollars
  18. I haven't found it yet. Of course, if it requires beating the computer opponents then I'll probably never find it! LOL Kudos on a great game, BTW.
  19. Apple IIgs in high school. It was about the same time the SNES came out so I was fascinated with scaling and rotation. I would write little tech demos with 2D wireframe graphics that would rotate and scale. Then I would try to figure out ways to optimize it. The flicker was horrendous but I was happy to get something onscreen. I also wrote drawing programs. Mouse support was beyond my scope so everything was handled on the keyboard. A couple years ago I picked up a Woz edition IIgs at a yard sale for $10. Fortunately I still have my (what is it 5 and a half inch?) floppy disk from high school so I fired it up and the thing still reads!
  20. Atari Video Cube (R7) Everything else is mostly commons, with a Pengo and Tapper thrown in for good measure.
  21. It's not quite dead yet... "I feel happy! I feel happy!"
  22. I shipped 75 orders yesterday.. The rest now have to wait until I finish my move.. ..Al Al please check your PM box. I'd really like to know the status of the replacement of the 2 defective carts I sent back. Which two carts were defective? My Pac-Man Collection and Lady Bug are defective. PMC had graphical glitches and Lady Bug would zonk out after the RAM OK/ROM OK screen. Sometimes the title screen would show up for a second. I'm waiting to send them back when things stabilize for Al.
  23. In the day I'd use the ProLines for Asteroids, Xevious, and Karateka. For everything else I'd use the 2600 stick. Nowadays I use a Genesis controller (either the 3-button or my arcade stick) with my homemade Genesis to 7800 adapter.
  24. An easy way to check is to search GameFaqs and see what systems come up. I did a search for Shanghai and came up with NES, SNES, TG-16, SMS and others. I think their database includes Japanese versions, though.
