  2. Apparently the code for GORF and its two derivates rest with Bob now as well.. any chance anyone who's in contact with him can get it posted? GORF was pretty far along and I would have to see it vaporize...

I just heard back from Bob; I was traveling this week, so it was my delay in contacting him. He does have the source code, but does not feel he can release it. He will contact the 'owner' and ask if it can be released.

    I will contact Bob...
  4. Hello everyone,

I just want to clearify the expected ship date. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear but it will be near the end of December. I told several people via PM that it would be late December but didn't carry that over to the first post. I'm spending 1-2 hours a day working on this and still have a ways to go. I am making a lot of changes to the game play so this will take time. Everything I'm doing is to make it more faithful to the arcade version, so I hope you will be patient with me. I have enough parts for the 56 orders so I'm also working on preparing the carts. There is a lot of delabeling and desoldering to do. I'll post an updated binary later this week that will have the girder level changes completed. I think you will be happy with the changes. :)

Perry-looking great so far! Thank you for all of the hard work and happy to wait for this until you are able to finish...

  5. Yes, it will show up in color on color kindle devices, we are not having an easy time with converting to Kindle, their automatic conversion tools essentially mangled our book, we've tried a few mobi converters with a little bit better luck but still not satisfied with the results, Marty is reformatting the template layout and we are going to try to build another kindle file to submit, but we have no ETA at this time.

I converted a couple of my wife's books to Kindle format...it was definitely a challenge and they were simple in layout compared to your book...good luck!
  6. I don't know what the state of the music in BB is, but I told Bob I could finish up coding it. I would need some help composing if it needs any significant music written. I'm thinking we should go big and use the Yamaha chip for sound. :)

    Perry

Perry-it would be awesome if you could finish BB...it would be a great way to honor Bob!

  8. Aww... :_(

Bob is a stand-up guy. I think I could even say he's the nicest guy I've dealt with on atariage.

I am sad to see him go, but then again, there are times in life when things change and I understand that you have to move on.

@mmervine-- your blog post indicates that he dumped his source code to the world-- where is the source code posted?

I've always wondered how he did some of his magic, although part of me feels like it'd be sacrilege to look at it.

Also, @mmervine, since it's quite possible that Bob may not be returning to atariage for awhile, I'd like to humbly that you at least make sure he's aware of this thread.

I'm not suggesting that he reply-- but, I'd at least like to make sure that he knows how much he was appreciated by a lot of is.

He will be missed. Without him, my Atari 7800 coding level would never have gotten to where it is.

Bob was a great motivator, and always helpful with a piece of code, advice, or playtesting when needed.

I looked up to him, and wish him well.

    -John

John-I have been in touch with Bob via e-mail and he is aware of my blog and I let him know about the forum...I hope he logs in and sees this thread. His source code is posted here...

  9. Wow, I didnt know that he was done completely. So Bentley Bear wont be finished now ? I think I need a tissue :_(

Bob confirmed to me that he does not plan to finsh BB. I am hoping one of the other 7800 programmers will finish BB as a way to honor Bob's work!
  10. Funny how much opinions can vary. I have no problem with rocks flickering when passing one another, and the multi-color solid mode is the only way I'm willing to play. :)

Don't get me wrong...this is an awesome game and just fine as it is!!!
