  1. I am LOVING my Colecovision flashback system. I think in most ways it is better than a real Coleco.

Would definitely help me if I could find a decent original controller...also helping the Flashback get play in my house is that my original Coleco's RF signal just flat out sucks. And I am not an RF snob. I play my 7800 on RF and did for years with my TG. No issues with it normally.

    3. OldSchoolRetroGamer

      OldSchoolRetroGamer

Oddly (or is it?) my best most solid RF output is my Atari 7800 ! You's hardly know it was not composite.

    4. GoldenWheels

      GoldenWheels

I'd agree...I've always found the 7800 RF to have a very good RF signal--it's the main reason I've never sprung for the AV mod. My Coleco's RF is super poor--yet it was the BEST machine out of the lot of 3 (!) I bought when I got into Coleco.

  2. Best home version of Gorf? My limited experience says Colecovision.

I have a Gorf arcade machine too. Other than the arcade the CV version is the only one I have played. The cv is a decent port and a fun game.

fired up the coleco, looks for colorful but plays like a different game, nice but different. Heres a comparison of a bunch of systems

  3. Looking to buy a new 50-55 inch TV...real scary to see even "Top rated" or "Amazon's Choice" having 10% bad reviews, all claiming defects out of the box. Where is the quality control???

      carlsson

Flojomojo is right on the money. If you're satisfied but not ecstatic, you probably won't write a review. If you're displeased, you are much more likely to share your feelings. That taken into consideration, 10% bad reviews probably are fairly low.

    3. jd_1138

      jd_1138

Unless the price difference is over $30-$40 or whatever you want, I'd go to Best Buy and see the TV's in action. Less delivery people drop kicking it, if you buy locally at Best Buy. Plus if there's a problem, it's an easier return.

    4. GoldenWheels

      GoldenWheels

I broke down and order it online, just a good old plain 1080p tv. No HDR, no 4k, no nonsense, which is fine for a living room tv....if it comes busted I'll trek it back to my nearest Best Buy. I will say I buy from them repeatedly just because they are so good about returns.

  4. A local town (Winsted) is considering replacing their old KFC with a marijuana dispensary. Just like South Park.

Unlike smoking (cigarettes),...You (probably) don't do it every day...So it doesn't kill your lungs unless you're excessive...And if it's legal/medicinal, there's edibles,... so no smoke at all!

  5. Yes! Finally got a Vectrex (on order) for a decent price! Now I need to know what games to get first?

Ugh, some people can be really inconsiderate. I'm a smoker but I only smoke outdoors and always wash my hands when I come back inside, so nothing in my place smells of cigarettes.

    4. SoundGammon

      SoundGammon

Use vanilla to get rid of smoke smell! Had a gal tell me she uses vanilla in her husbands work clothes when she washes them. He's a firefighter. We had a fire in a warehouse next to ours years ago and I simmered vanilla for a couple weeks and the smell was gone! Our warehouse was filled with a lot of video games, pinball machines etc!

  7. Guy at work sees my Atari shirt. Next day brings me a box with about 10 games (one of them Pitfall 2) and a 2600 Vader with all the cords. Says take it, don't worry about money. I have some paying forward to do I guess.

I did have a coworker give me a Turbografx + game...But he also owed me $180 he never paid me...Actually $190 since he also owed me on the football pool (I won)..

  8. So I built an Atari 7800 arcade stick, my first soldering project since high school. I was so happy when it worked the first time, I hurried back into the workship to drill a hole for the cord and be done...and I drilled the hole on the FRONT of the case.

  11. Saw a nice 13" Aiwa TV/VCR combo with front firing speakers, composite ins (so not just RF), and actual L/R stereo capabilities (so not just mono) at the dump...it came home with me. Fingers crossed for the test later. I have a sickness.

  13. So I am driving by the Habitat store and they have a 32 inch WEGA CRT out on the grass for free. It is the same one I already have, just a newer model. I lugged it into my car so I can have a spare.

My grandmother took me to the arcade, there were no video games. It was a bunch of shops with covered walkways and arches...so large arched covered areas with adjacent shops or shops within.... this is probably why they identify what kind of arcade it is... Food arcade, fish arcade, video game arcade... etc etc...
