Confused about Atari 8 bit (XL/XE) graphics modes
+Adam+ replied to Atari130XE's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
320x192 - it's a default high resolution, but maximum Atari 8-bit horizontal resolution is 384 when wide playfield width is set (actually 352 pixels are visible) and maximum vertical resolution is 240 scan lines. -
If I may suggest - could you add a small note here to avoid confusion and to make it different from the first Mazezam conversion from 2012?: https://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-mazezam_28629.html For example this game could be reffered as "MazezaM (8ko version)" here, not just "MazezaM". New port: "FlaschBier" (conversion from C64) - Arkadiusz "Larek" Lubaszka, Michał Radecki-Mikulicz (stRing). Larek's site: https://arsoft.netstrefa.pl/programy.htm Link to the XEX file: https://arsoft.netstrefa.pl/pliki_programy/FlaschBier.xex

@Kaz atarionline.pl told me that the latest "Gold Diggers" version is final (via PM). And that's it, I'm not going to ask more creators regarding their 2023 games, although somehow I feel that latest corrections are probably just the tip of an iceberg As you may see in "Enduro" thread, it's not so easy to receive a reply from a creator via AAge.
-
Regarding "Dude Story": @Mq. the author, was determined to finish the game in 2023 - and so he did on December 31th and in his words this is the final version. After a few days he also prepared an English version, but the gameplay was not modified. The future versions of "Dude Story" in his words will be more like "service packs" (for example bug fixes), the gameplay should remain the same. The source: AtariOnline thread and then he explained some details to me in a PM.

"De-Rezilyzer": here's a link on Gury's site: https://gury.atari8.info/detail.php?id=6687&src=1 Or you may download one big utilities package (78 MB) from AtariOnline.pl, it's inside it: https://atarionline.pl/archiwa/archiwumuzytkow-atarionlinepl-2019-12-05.7z (although De-Rezylizer file is not visible in current AtariOnline database, strange...)

@Vin_the_2600_Man As I understand this is the final version of "Enduro" and no further development is planned? The game is still categorised as "WIP" in the thread below and I think it's a mistake:
-
"DotA" - @matosimi has just wrote me: "it can be considered finished". Regarding "Inertia", "Tupouni" (it's NOT "Tupounti"!) and "Plan B Part 2 Mission Unlikely", all by @Fandal: I cannot recall any of his game from last years that wouldn't be released already as final. I asked him and he has just replied: "Yes, all these games are finished. I never release WIP versions." "Morsowanie - Level BASIC" by Krzyś is also a completed game.
-
James, I don't quite understand why every year so many finished games are in "WIP" category on your list, maybe the creators just don't read this thread or they don't realise that a game in such status would be ignored in the competition. And in some cases it's quite clear that a new version is not planned: For example "Night Knight" - @LarsImNetz wrote in April here on AAge: "The game is finished. I submitted it to the ABBUC Contest 2023" and later he published the ABBUC version... @amarok has recently published a "making of" video for Time Wizard. I think there won't be a new version created. Also 99% of 256 byte games are not developed further after the demoparty they were presented

All entries of ATASCII Compo 2023 will be presented today by Logiker at 19:00 CEST:

The results should be announced on October 22nd AFAIK. The games are downloadable for ABBUC members.

For those who haven't seen the gameplay:

Logiker updated the exporter yesterday: https://logiker.itch.io/atascii-exporter The contest's rules were also updated: https://logiker.com/ATASCII-Rules "Resolution in characters: width 40, height 24-28 (Atari standard height is 24, Playscii standard is 25, 28 would still be visible well on Atari PAL and NTSC versions)" The deadline is October 19th, 18:00 CEST. Good luck in the competition!

As I wrote lately, the new version of the XEX exporter for Playscii editor will be published soon. The exporter will recognise 3 sizes: 40x24 characters (the "native" Atari mode), 40x25 characters (quite common for 8-bit computers) and 40x28 characters (28 lines is the maximum height that is visible in both PAL and NTSC systems) and will produce an adequate XEX file. Speaking of 40x28, here's the winning ATASCII entry from the last Silly Venture Summer Edition created in Playscii "Iced Earth" by Odyn1ec:

Druidarium, second place of Silly Venture 2K18
+Adam+ replied to Yautja's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
KK is busy making other things for many platforms. I don't think he will ever go back to Druidarium and finish it. Some of his impressive works: "RoboMechanik" for 2600 "Silas Adventure" for Atari Lynx "Dread" for Amiga 500 4K intro for PC Another 4K intro -
I've prepared a patch for Playscii exporter to produce 40x28 XEX format and I will prepare also 40x24 version. I suppose Logiker should update the rules in the following days.

There's a video from July 6th:

"New Infocom like game"? The game was released in 2020.
