Why is it that when you're looking for the truth, you're looking for "transparency", but when you know someone's lying to you, you can "see right through them" and suddenly transparency isn't a good thing? English is a fucking weird language.
When someone's lying to you, you're looking for the truth (that they're not telling you), so I'd argue that in that case seeing right through them is still a good thing. No arguing English is a weird language, though...
