  1. Here's my take on using wireless adapters on Atari game systems: The most important parts of the video if you are interested mainly in getting this accomplished for the 2600 (as opposed to the 5200) are as follows: 0:08 to 2:37 Introduction of the two needed adapters that you'll connect together 3:55 to 7:50 Main list of wireless controllers to be used on your Atari with those two adapters. 7:51 to 10:54 Using the Gamecube and Wii Classic controller with a 3rd adapter that gets wirelessly linked. 24:14 to 26:51 Playing an Atari 2600 game with a wireless controller. Hope many of you here can benefit from what 0078265317 Figured out. I certainly am!
  2. Yeah- this edited version makes sure you don't buy too many unnecessary adapters.

    Wireless?

    ...or Ikonsgr, if he's interested
  4. If I were you I'd go with the Edladdin option which truly is phenomenal, but here is another option:
  5. It's a nice controller, but the lack of symmetry leaves it in the less-than-ideal category. Also, the thumbpad is not grippy enough- a little slippery. I use it from time to time and like that it has the analog stick as an option. I have used a symmetrical gamepad which has very tall sticks onboard (a Playstation controller) on the 5200 via two adapters (bohoki PC 15 pin to 5200 adapter and SmartJoy Emulator adapter for Playstation to PC 15 pin conversion). It is the Interact Barracuda and it is a great experience for playing the analog and digital games. I like how it's symmetrical and I like the tall thumbsticks that have a concave surface so your thumbs are held without slippage.
  6. I had put the Radio Shack controller (X6-33M) on my little diagram a couple weeks ago. Thought some of you here may like it: https://photos.app.goo.gl/PCWEYeXRDf6eqgfK7
  7. I must've overlooked it... or something truly just altered in the 8bitdo adapter (which I think is pretty unlikely, but possible).
  8. I made a little mistake in the video that had to do with what adapters are needed to get that whole wireless controller system working. This evening I tried plugging the Genesis Retro Receiver into the Masterplay Clone directly (without using with either the Best Electeonics cable or the Seagull78 in between them as I had shown in the video) and it's working. I could've sworn that it wasn't working that way two evenings ago when I initially tried it. But, it appears it's working now. I guess, there's only a Masterplay Clone and an 8bitdo Genesis Retro Receiver required then.
  9. One more thing, this evening I tried plugging the Genesis Retro Receiver into the Masterplay Clone directly (without using with either the Best Electeonics cable or the Seagull78 in between them) and it's working. I could've sworn that it wasn't working that way two evenings ago when I initially tried it. Huh... Well, I'll mention this in the description of the video and in the comments, so 5200 Masterplay Clone owners won't go spending money on the extra cable that apparently wasn't even needed...
  10. The Saitek P750 isn't compatible- I've tried it. I have the Radio Shack analog thumbstick controller (same as the X6-33M Saitek that you have) and really don't like the main fire button on the left trigger. If there's an adapter for moving the fire buttons from the triggers to the C & D buttons, that'd be really nice. It's actually a great controller for 5200 players to use- as long as C and D could be the main fire buttons.
  11. My 2 cents is that the Atari 5200 Trakball makes many of the 5200 analog games stand head and shoulders over their 8 bit Atari computer counterparts. One of those got released in 2012- Tempest... and there are many great homebrews/conversions regularly coming out for the 5200, not to mention the many great controller options for the 5200 digital games these days that it's really a system worth owning.
  12. I am really finding this discovery to be a great one- and here are my impressions about it: Thanks again, 0078265317, for figuring this out. It's really nice for its Masterplay Clone owners to know this!
  13. Got a new video up on the Genesis Retro Receiver discovery for the 5200 made by our Atariage compatriot 0078265317. This enables a variety of bluetooth controllers (ie. Dual Shock4, Switch joycons, Xbox One controllers) to work on many 9 pin controller systems- including the 5200 if you have an Atariguy1021 Masterplay Clone or a Lowbudget M.P. Clone. Here's the video: And there's a way to get SNES and Gamecube controller compatibility, as well, which I go into explaining within the presentation. This was a fun one to make!

    Wireless?

I don't have a CX85... but I would say it is not properly wired for being compatible with the 5200 when plugged into a M.P. Clone. Sega Mark 3 controllers are digital and can work with the Sega Master System, so like any Master System controller they'll work on the 5200 with a M.P. Clone. The Amiga Powerstick is digital, as are all Atari 2600 joysticks. That joystick you showed an image of will work on a 5200 with the M.P. Clone.
  15. David, you are an entertaining guy
  16. I actually enjoy Cosmic Swarm when it's played with a controller you'd never think would be any good for this type of game: A mouse. I have some footage of myself playing the game with a Commodore 64 mouse, and it was challenging and actually pretty fun. Here you go (go to 16 min 38 seconds into the video):
  17. It would be an honor and a privilege to be your official adapter tester One of these days you'll have to get a 5200 and some games. It's definitely worth owning if you value early classic games.
  18. Just let me know when this one is ready to ship for testing. I definitely would be interested in trying it out
  19. It turns out I was mistaken. Beamrider has purely digital controls. I had thought otherwise due to how one of my Genesis to 5200 adapters was working imperfectly with Beamrider and Genesis controllers. It turns out the adapter was actually the problem, not some weird analog issue with the game. I now have a 2nd Genesis to 5200 controller adapter that remedied the problem.

    Trak-Ball feel

The buttons differ between these 3 models. I'm thinking CX22 because the circular buttons might be more desirable.
  21. Something big has been accomplished today that has never before been accomplished (but I'm not yet spilling the details). I'll be discussing this on the next Atari 5200 Podcast:
