  1. % will be on AtariAge/Atari Yep 70% sounds good. It was just idea.
  2. The 400 Mini almost 20k sold according to serial numbers. Plus 100s of XE/XL owners. So it makes sense make monthly Game Compo / Jam. And also have store (atariage?) and coders/game teams will recieve little money. Also can imagine bigger project sold on USB a400mini / picocart xl/xl... Compo rules: - 130xe like, max 128kb ram - standard pokey (4ch, mono) - original game (not conversion only if yours) - title screen / multiple levels - pdf introduction manual Good or bad idea? It will boost XL/XE community also The400Mini too. Store: - digital download (XEX, ATR, ROM) - price 3usd to 5usd - if sold 500 (25% will goes to authors) - if sold 1000 or more (50% will goes to author) Boxed version (for collectors) price 30 to 50 usd (50usd ultra rare with authors hand signatures) - boxed version, usb with logo, manual (10% author) - boxed version, picocart + case + cover sticker, manual (10% author) - best top5 sold games in year (some retro pro-gaming event) with prices - web3/NFT ultra rare (like 10 people will own game cartridge or ROM as nft on Earth) higher price
  3. I would love to have all modern Atari XE/XL features on one board (something as Commander X16): Name can be 816XE mITX or mATX 2x 9" cannon joystick (maybe 6button sega) - multijoy cable slitter (4x 8x players) 2x usb (aki keyboard and amiga/st mouse adapter) build in sddrive (supporting big sd cards 32gb, 256gb) Karin IDE - fast ide port (very fast old pc hdd) HDMI video out 2x golden cinch rca audio out (like amiga) real CPU WDC 65c816 / 14mhz or 20mhz mode 16mb system ram + 32mb fpga (video/audio) eci+cartridge (compatible with XE) SIO port on back 1x FAN controller rgb (programable) for 65c816 cooling 1x pci size port (BUS) for future upgrades small pci-e size port (FUJINET) like upgrade Fpga part: Vbxe + PokeyMAX (quadpokey 4x pokey, covox/samples with dma, ay/ym for playing Atari ST songs, maybe also TIA or fm atari arcade ym2151) Quality DAC for audio out from FPGA Website + Forum + Discord community like Commander X16 When m-ITX also port for internal keyboard(for 3d printed case) with jumper internal or pc usb.
  4. What about NewGUI for VBXE??? To promote graphics card. Also support Rapidus 20mhz to have 16bit gui. VBXE: 640x240p in 64 colours, 320x240p in 1024 colours???
  5. Want 2x boards. Is possible have 2x pokey sockets (on board stereo)?
  6. Hello Friends. Find something interesting on GitHub: https://github.com/dominicbeesley/blitter-vhdl-6502 Its for Acorn Atom, Electron anyways maybe we can adapt. Some kind of multimedia/turbocard upgrade. We have VBXE, Rapidus but this can be interesting too(all in one board upgrade ram, cpu, blitter, pcm sound etc). As well as replacing the CPU the boards provide a set of enhancements to the machine: A blitter - a co-processor which can plot graphics to screen memory very quickly - roughly modelled on the Amiga's Blitter (Agnus) A sound chip - an enhanced sound card which provides 4 or more 8 bit PCM channels - roughly modelled on the Amiga's Paula sound chip A raster chaser - "Aeris" a co-processor which can update hardware registers at various points on the screen during screen scanning - analogous to but quite different to the Amiga's Copper Memory expansion: Full Sideways ROM/RAM in various configurations (Flash EEPROM, Fast RAM, Battery Backed RAM) Page-Wide expansion For 16/32 bit CPUs a linear address space Soft or Hard CPUs with separate configurations Alternative CPU's. The main CPU can be replaced with either an FPGA IPCore CPU (T65) or with a plug-in cpu More: https://github.com/dominicbeesley/blitter-vhdl-6502/blob/main/doc/hardware-overview-mk3.md - up to 6MB of main SRAM - up to 1MB of battery backed RAM - 512K of FlashEEPROM - crystal oscillator - HDMI port - SD card slot - optional RTC - optional configuration EEPROM - and optional cpu plug-in cards for additional CPU cards i.e. 6502/65c02, 65816, 6809, 6309, Z80, MC68008, MC68000 etc processors. second cpu (65816 or even 68000 can be interesting for demos as fpu for math)
  7. Maybe 2024 XE/XL game "Tony - Born for Adventure". Its beautiful hi-res game! Like Montezuma but better graphics. I know gaphics artist. Can soneone tell Atari guys? can be included with The400Mini. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100086340110801
  8. There is also Pico56(rpi pico) and HBC56(real IC chips): https://github.com/visrealm/pico-56 https://github.com/visrealm/hbc-56 Specs: 65C02 CPU 65C22 VIA TMS9918A VDP (Sega SMS/MSX1) Dual AY-3-8910 PSGs (comp Atari ST) Dual NES controller inputs PS/2 keyboard input 96KB Banked RAM/ROM BASIC Pico56 is very cheap! Pcb-Way: https://www.pcbway.com/project/shareproject/PICO_56_Retro_Computer_on_a_Pi_Pico_515c59b8.html There are paint/sprite editors for msx1 also arkostracker2 for ay music... Can imagine have new Atari Games like Laura, Crownland etc... Or we can be inspired mod firmware: - atari xe/xl graphics - 2x pokey
  9. On/Off stereo??? Mono to both speakers / Stereo
  10. Nice is possible in theory make 4x pokey emulation in future? Is mcu/fpga fast enought???
  11. I am interested 2 boards in spring. Fully assembled if possible.
  12. Beautiful project! Love it. Have 3x A800XL this will be amazing to have one day 2x of them. And You can evolve with Mytek stereo-ps/2 keyboard https://ataribits.weebly.com/tk-ii-stereo.html to 4mb atx Atari in future.
  13. You are author of Cryotek WebCopy??? Wow. Also nice graphics tools. Will mirror Your site!
  14. Are both Pico cores used? Is possible use second core as player??? Mod some player and use it in games? SID https://github.com/henrikenblom/SIDPod YM2151 not finished https://github.com/anthonydotmoe/vgmplayer Lot of soundchips https://github.com/Layer812/vgmpicoTurbo Mod ???
  15. Doing webcopy (all www, files) of a800 websites want backup on hdd a bluray. I have: - ataribits - ataripcb.pl - madteam - mono music / graphics - raster... Please post here links of your or friends, or another cool 8bit XE/XL websites for backup...
  16. Will be great I am sure PokeyMAX-Quad / PokeySonic will have support tracker and player. Support in Altirra too. It's matter of time. Also games, demos. I think best benefit will be 16bit modes so 8channels (quad pokey) or 12channels (hybrid 16bit/8bit mode). This can gives new sound "ability", new sound specs to tunes. Maybe SchamaXL and SubCart will have quad too... SchamaXL author wrote it can be done. Easiest will be player. Load A (8channels rmt) and load B (8ch rmt) and play all at once easiest for start. Than altirra, tracker on PC upgraded to 16ch and native player quad modules (*. qmt for example). Also C64 guys have 4sid (12ch) also 4sid SidWizard by Hermit. This is must fot Atarians have 16channels simply 4 more than them! After that AMY recreation ... also benefit can be have 4x audio out (5din to 4x audio cinch rca) and 2x amplifier and 4x speaker each in one corner of room. This can be fun (nice effects similar like 5.1 audio albums). That can be nice too or ic mux via external switch them to stereo... Also can be useful with Rapidus in future. So 8ch stereo for music 8ch for sound fx or 2ch samples etc... Rapidus 20mhz 816 can do that plus 1mb sram and 30mb fast data ram...
  17. There was!!! Atari manufactured them for Atari Arcades. This was idea behind of PokeyMAX/PokeySonic upgrades.
  18. Well I have 14x pokey from 90s like 2usd each sealed from Atari factory in antistatic ic tube. Will write to PokeyMax author too for demoscene/game machine fpga quad+covox is best. But want real 4x pokey board too as got tube amp and hand made speakers for listening pokey tunes.
  19. Nice!!! Is 1:1 replica or have on board stereo?
  20. Yes PokeyMAX-Quad is great too. But some people listening real chips better real Pokey real YM, SID etc . Want PokeyMAX-quad covox too but was fpga shortage.
  21. Hello! My friend DoDo made almost 5 years ago Quad Pokey board upgrade(not finished pre-alpha version). For real Pokey chips exactly like Stereo (Simple or Raster Stereo) but Quad (16channels) as it was standard in Atari Arcade(inspired). He never finished it(I dont know if). He moved to another city lot of work in new job etc. Maybe Mytek, T0ri, X-Angel or Candle, Lotharek can finish it. VinsCool told me is possible in future to have upgraded 16channel RMT Tracker version (also use another Pokey modes is possible in theory like 16bit 8ch or 12ch in 8/16bit mode). So there will be way to replay songs on PokeyMAX QUAD or on this board. And have new sound for our little Atari. So 8ch better sound or 16ch so reverb, echo or such effects tricks are possible... For fans of real chips, for Atari community (backup) here is first version gerbers: https://matej.space/RETRO/POKEYSONIC_v01_RevA.zip When anybody will make new version from this please always include ("original design by DoDo"). Its all I have from old HDD.
  22. @tmp is possible implement fpu or 16/32 6502bit cpu into cart? For math (3d games, demos) is there space? Here: https://github.com/robfinch/Cores/tree/master/FT816 OpenCores: https://opencores.org/projects/ft816float Or another not sure which amd, weitek, 68881 or 68882???
  23. I am 40+ but get my Atari800XE as kid for Xmas as 5years old. Was expensive in Central/Eastern Europe in that time like scooter or 7x salary. But it opened way to music production also autocad (logo is similar to cad promt or lisp). Also lot of fun with friends. Hope 2025s will be 80s 90s retro future/cyberpunk again! Computers in keyboard. Blade Runner like movies. Rave on parties, Vangelis like on music concerts...
