Did you resolve the issue of executing AUTOEXEC on bootup with the Geneve?  This may be answered in another area already as I am checking out all of the posts after not being on for ab out 3 days.

yes.  When I changed the default location with CYA, everything started working..

  4. I have some 3D printed dragon eggs along with movable dragons that match their eggs.

The dragons are right at 12 inches long and the eggs are a little over 5 inches tall.  The eggs double as storage for the dragons, the eggs unscrew and open up to store the dragons.

    See photo:

From left to right:  I have 2 of the first one, 1 of the second and 3 of the green.

$20 each + shipping for one dragon and one matching egg.

    PM if interested.

  5. All,

@InsaneMultitasker and I contacted Custodio Malilong who developed the Nano PEB and CF7 devices for the TI-99/4A to check what his current state was on development for the product.  Custodio has given his permissions to release the source files to the Nano PEB as he is no longer working on it or making updates.  So it is with great pleasure that Insane and I release the files we obtained from him to help anyone wanting to develop or improve or just see the method behind his madness.

    Enjoy!

Good. Very good.  Stick with CRU >1200 for any instructions you prepare for the Geneve.  The loader will need to be updated to support any CRU, as noted earlier, to use other CRU bases.

I am evening going to set the CRU default for this card to >1200, even setup a silkscreen next to the dipswitch showing CRU 1200 setting!

What was the end result of the EPROM versions?

both 1.5 and 1.6 worked fine.  But I plan on sticking with the 1.5 version since that what was used without the Michael Becker daughter board.

  8. I have been able to test the below finally.

    • Boot from SCSI via Geneve with MDOS 7.42
    • File copies:
      • TIPI to SCSI
      • SCSI to TIPI
      • Floppy to SCSI
      • SCSI to floppy
      • IDE to SCSI
      • SCSI to IDE
      • HRD to SCSI
      • SCSI to HRD
      • HFDC MFM to SCSI
      • SCSI to HFDC MFM
    • Execution of files from both TI and Geneve
    • Rename, Delete of files both TI and Geneve
    • Create and Delete of folders on TI and Geneve

Will do more testing through the weekend to put it through its paces.  But looking good!

  9. Thanks everyone..  I got it all working, the Geneve boots from both the original WHTECH SCSI and my version as well.  And boots from both the SCSI2SD adapter and a ZuluSCSI unit.  So, I am good now..

Just to rule a few more things out...

What other cards are in the system?

Run CRCOS7 against the file you copied to the SCSI.  Make sure the file isn't bad.

It shouldn't any more difficult to boot from SCSI than from HFDC. Very peculiar.  I'll check back tomorrow or Saturday.

It appears to be an issue with my ZuluSCSI device looks like.  I was able to boot via my SCSI2SD adapter once I set it to >1200 as you suggested.

The only issue I need to chase now is it is not loading up my AUTOEXEC file that is on my SCS1.  Not sure why..

  11. i'm wondering if my 1.5 DSR is bad.  as soon as it hits the card the geneve swan gets colorful.  The 1.6 does not do that, but it won't boot with the 1.6 on my card.

Anyone got a good binary of the 1.5?

The picture I posted shows this as well for >1200. We agree!  :)

I don't have a Geneve configured with an EPROM at this time, so I can't test the loader on real hardware. What do you mean by the above statement?  Does it get to the OS title/version text then lock?  Or is it locking in LOAD-SCS?

You can hold the "DEL" key after the OS starts to load to force autoexec to load from DSK1. This might get you to a prompt.

I see it loading MDOS from the LOAD-SCS file and I see MDOS is starting message, but after about 5 seconds the SCSI drive stops accessing and the geneve just freezes.  This happens on both my new SCSI card and an original REV F with Michael Becker update.

Try to set the CRU switch 1 off 2 off 3 on 4 on 5 off 6-7-8 on. I know on my WHTScsi that is 1200

I get it to start booting with this setting, but then it freezes and never displays the dos prompt.

If you remove PDMA OFF, and type PDMA at the command line, it -should- be set to OFF by the OS.  The Geneve checks the revision text in the EPROM to determine the setting.

What CRU address are you using?  Try >1200.    MDOS used dedicated CRUs for SCSI, IDE, and TIPI up until recently.  I'm pretty sure the loader was also locked to >1200.

I don't recall looking at that code and I'm not sure if @9640News did so either.

I remember reading that somewhere for the CRU >1200.  Now i just need to figure out what switches set that!  my brain is mush right now..

Photo of my "F" card, in case it is of any value.  I had it out to test an updated routine.  Hopefully, you'll find a simple solution.

    I'm getting closer.

It is definitely something to do with the PDMA being ON.  I am using the 1.5 DSR. I can issue the below commands:

    PDMA OFF

    SCSMAP 10

    SCSMAP 21

    ASSIGN H=SCS1:

    ASSIGN J=SCS2:

I can then get a directory of both drives, copy files back and forth.

I copied the SYSTEM-SYS and LOAD-SCS, created a quick AUTOEXEC file and saved it to SCS1 with the same commands as above.  Power cycle the geneve then it tries as it sees the LOAD-SCS file but then I get the infamous:

'Cannot locate SYSTEM-SYS file on SCS1.

    Press any key to retry'

I know it's there.  I even copied it from my HFDC drive to it.

The Geneve OS's PDMA detection might be confused.  You can try a SCSI v1.5 EPROM to see what happens.  MDOS 7.4x, right?

I don't remember if Fred's latest DM2K will work via EXEC or EXEC /r or GPL with the rompage option. Can give that a try.

yes MDOS 7.42.  I'm making progress with the older SCS2SD adapter.  stay tuned.

type PDMA at the command line.

    If ON, try "PDMA OFF"

    If OFF, try "PDMA ON"

PDMA is on, turning it OFF has not effect, still the same issue.

I have even tried the older SCSI2SD unit we all purchased some years back.  Set it all up and same thing.

I should add that I can go into Freds DU2K via EXEC DU2K and it sees it all and I can format/initialize from the Geneve.

  18. It's been a long time since I had a SCSI on a Geneve.  So, I think I need a refresher course.

both my new 838-SCSI and WHT-SCSI REV F act the same.

I have SW2 all set to 'ON' for the Geneve

    I have in AUTOEXEC

    SCSMAP 11

    SCSMAP 22

    SCSMAP 33

    ASSIGN F=SCS1:

    ASSIGN G=SCS2:

    ASSIGN H=SCS3:

I'm trying to use a ZuluSCSI drive, works fine on the TI with the same SCSI cards.

When I try to get a directory of any of the SCSI drives, I assigned above, the light on the ZuluSCSI engages for a few seconds then turns off and the Geneve is locked up.

    What am I doing wrong?

  19. received the new DB 25 male to DB 25 female straight through cable to test to make sure the pinout was backwards from mouser's library and it was.  that cable works great with the card.  I have corrected the footprint for the final board run.
