You are looking for the Kisado convertor. Look it up on epay. Probably run you anywhere from $60-$100. I've seen many times people just say to buy a Jap PC Engine console, as it will be much cheaper to do that.

Most *Technically* Advanced machine of each generation?
Cobra Kai replied to RCmodeler's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I know nothing about computers but for consoles I'll say: 8-bit: SuperGrafx(as far as I can tell, its a supercharged TG-16, but still 8-bit) 16-bit: NEO-GEO 32-bit: ? meh...I don't really care, but its not the N64, thats a 64 bit machine. -
Finnaly broke the 200 different game mark!!!!!!!!!!!11
Cobra Kai replied to snakeeyesdd's topic in Atari 2600
Congratulations! I reached my 200 mark a couple months ago, and I've kinda hit a brick wall. Going huntin today though. I think I have 201, half are complete! Some of my rarer ones include Chase the Chuckwagon, Scuba Diver, Miner 2049er II, and a boxed Sears Telegames Paddles. Good luck finding more! -
Jungle Strike, Desert Strike, Urban Strike...
Cobra Kai replied to Jasoco's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Nuclear Strike is available on the N64 also. I play this on a regular basis, you can play in a medium res mode with the expansion pak. There is a game called Thunder Strike on Sega CD, but I don't know if thats a 'Strike' series game or not, anyone got any info? -
What modded systems do you have?
Cobra Kai replied to ApolloBoy's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'm getting my Neo Geo modded for S-Video so I can play it on my HDTV. The stock video out on the NEO is the dirtiest signal I've ever seen on any game console, I can only imagine how bad it is with RF. It only really shows up bad on my HDTV, so I have to play it on my old Quasar set. All my other systems I'm happy with, so they'll probably remain stock. Although it wouldn't hurt to mod one of my 2600's to composite video. That may be a project I would actually do myself, but I'm not even going to attempt it on my NEOGEO. I'll let a pro take care of that. -
Yeah hold out for a longbox version of SA, good collector choice I S U C K at Space Ace. It is so hard to figure out what to do because there are so many possibilities. Your in outer space so there is hardly ever any clear cut path to victory so to speak. Dragons Lair was in an enclosed environment pretty much and was easy to figure out which direction you had to go. Space Ace doesn't have this clarity. It looks good though.

Gamerooms, Storage Area, Showing off, and other tips :)

Systems you don't have, but want the most?
Cobra Kai replied to Ze_ro's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'm actually glad to be able to say that I own every system I've ever wanted. It's nice to not have to worry about picking up a console before buying games I could probably live with just 2 systems if I had to, the 5200 and the Neo Geo..these would be the last to go if I had to sell for an emergency, and that emergency better be something along the lines of saving my penis from falling off or something. -
I remember the Arcade version having Trackball control, so thats why I haven't bothered with getting it on MAME, as I don't have one of those fancy trackball mouse'. Thats a horrible pic at KLOV of the cabinet. Thats not a joystick on there, its a trackball I'm sure of it.

This game just popped into my head today. I love this game, and I've only seen one cabinet of Shuuz in my life. I played the crap out of it while it was available at the local arcade, but when it was gone, well, it was gone forever. I don't see this gem anywhere! Anyone else enjoy this game? I could imagine it would have done well on a bar route, as it just seems the perfect fit for a bar/lounge. Uhg..I hate when I remember a great game, but then I can't play it!

After I clean up all the carbon buildup of the parts, I spray all the moving pieces and contacts with Teflon Lube spray, haven't had any gumming up problems yet.

How do you videotape 86 hours of gameplay? And who's the guy that has to watch 86 hours of videotaped gameplay of Journey Escape?
-
I gotta go with the Woody because it matches the Atari Game Center perfectly! I've never seen a Blackened game center to go with the Darth Vader models, all the game centers I've ever seen were woodgrain. Thats the main reason I like the Woodgrain 2600.

I broke 2 Slik-Stiks on Decathlon, then I stopped playing the game until I acquired a Track & Field controller.

No, but I've played a hell of alot on both machines, enough to make a reasonable judgment, much like how polls are conducted, whereas most polls don't require everyone in the world to respond to the questions, I can make a valued judgement of the libraries based on the fact that not only do I own over 200 Atari 2600 carts, but I've played many more that I don't own currently. I've played well over 100 games for the PSX as well, are you really going to try and say that statistically, the 2600 and PSX have a HIGHER percentage of good games than the 5200? Come on, be realistic. If you throw all the 5200 titles in a big pile, and randomly pick one, you will get a good game %90 of the time. List all the awful games on the 5200 that the majority of the people here will agree are awful, you'll end up with a list of no more than 8 I'm guessing. I would say no more than 5 personally. How is the 7800 controller better? Its shaped almost the same as the 5200 stick is resulting in hand cramping, and the 7800 buttons wear out over time, they lose their 'click' and tend to stick in the on position. Don't try to make the 7800 controller out to be something its not. I know I know, you hate my sig I've been meaning to change it, just gotta think of something else and quit being lazy!
-
Oh without question this rings true. The 5200 stands unique in that instead of having %90 of the games as garbage, which you find in the 2600 and PSX, you get %90 good games. I can't even count the number of truly awful games for the 5200 on one hand. The 7800 has alot more subpar games, and even has some titles that compare to the 5200 versions, which shouldn't happen since its supposed to be 'superior' hardware. There are plenty of options to the 5200 controllers, especially with this Redemption thing coming out, so it's hard to justify the 5200 controllers as a real drawback to getting the system. And its not like the 7800 controllers are ANY better at all. If you get a 7800, get it because its got some games you just gotta have, not because it plays 2600 games, I mean 2600's are cheap as hell, just get a 2600 for 2600 gaming. I realize that the 7800 is enticing because of its backward compatibility, but thats only because the 7800 library doesn't stand up well enough on its own. You never see people telling you to get a 5200 because it plays 2600 games, but rather your told to get a 5200 because the 5200 games are awesome.

Yeah, I didn't mean to center the Comp Pro stick, I mean to center the 5200 stick. Put in a game with 4-way movement like BERZKERK, and then just center your 5200 stick until the berzerk man doesn't move at all. Then your Comp Pro should work perfect.
-
Is there a reason you like the Wico stick over the Competition Pro? I owned a Wico for the longest time, but never really liked it. Once I rebuilt my standard 5200 sticks, I traded my Wico for a TG-16 console, and some games. I think the Wico would be better if it was digital. I guess you can play all the games on the 5200 with it, but since it ain't digital, I gotta give the Competition Pro the advantage. What did you like about the Wico?

Yeah, I played H.E.R.O., and noticed that there is a hesitation when trying to fly. If you press up to fly, you don't automatically rise, it takes a second to go up. This can be a problem. I didn't notice anything wrong with any of the Pac-Man games, and I tried all 4 of them. When I first tried the stick out, I played Super Pac-Man, and it PacMan kept wanting to go up all the time without me pushing up. I thought the stick was broken or something, so I took it apart and looked inside, but everything was all nice in there. Then it dawned on me that my 5200 stick wasn't exactly centered So I guess if you are having problems with Ms.PacMan, make sure your 5200 stick is centered just right? Oh, I tried QBert and that rocks with this stick, I can actually play it with some proficiency now. This is a much harder version over the 2600..ouch!

What I don't understand is why people get mad at T-Bird over the price of Battlesphere now. I mean, Scatalogic may have set the original retail price, but since they have been all sold for quite some time now, its the gamers/buyers who keep the price high. T-Bird has no control over the price of BSG today, don't you understand that? If you want to bitch someone out over the price of BSG, then you need to bitch out every person who buys it.

I got one of these sticks for $8 last weekend. This is the single best joystick for a classic system I have ever used. I don't even need to worry about getting a masterplay interface anymore, this thing cured every single control problem I have ever wanted to fix with my 5200. First, it actually looks and feels like an Arcade stick, with the ball handle, and the arcade size buttons. Second, its DIGITAL!! I can't believe the level of play I'm getting with games like Super-Pac-Man, and Gyruss...Gyruss feels absolutely perfect now. The response with this stick just blows my mind. I like the standard 5200 sticks, but all they will be used for now is to start/pause/reset...and maybe I'll use them for Star Raiders once in a while. Oh, I forgot to mention, Defender gets new life breathed into it from this stick, as well as Berkerk...ah heck with it...I have to try all the games with this thing

OMG, you've got to be kidding me. What are you trying to do video game addict, trying to make everyone drool all over themselves?(wipes chin)

Battlesphere better than Madden 2003?
Cobra Kai replied to GaryH917's topic in Modern Console Discussion
So whats your solution Gary? You keep crying about the low price of $160 for a high quality game. Your acting like someone is forcing you to spend this money or something. Is someone holding a knife to your throat forcing you to buy Battlesphere? I don't get it. Your trying to play the victim, but of what? What are you a victim of? A victim of NOT having Battlesphere? You wanna see expensive, why dont' you try and collect for the NEO GEO, then come back and apologize for acting like a baby over a measly $160. -
Not only is it great fun to play, but aren't those Driving controllers equally as cool as the game? I think Ice Race is the best test of skill on the game, plus its just plain fun sliding around corners

So if you go out and buy Madden 03(yawn), NHL2K3(yawn), and World Series 2K3(yawn), your going to play these forever? I doubt it, it will end up in the resale rack at EB like every other sports game ever made. You talk about buying Battlesphere for $160 and getting bored within a month, but at the very least you could sell that Battlesphere for $160 and lose absolutely nothing. However if you buy those 3 same old, same old crummy sports games for $160, once you get bored with those, they are worth what? About $15 for all three, and thats if you sell them before next year's releases come out. Talk about a waste of money.
