  1. I guess the project is not going forward. My pre-order was refunded and now the website is in maintenance mode. No real communication other than the refund
  2. If you have a stock power brick that came with the 64C I'd suggest you stop using it and pick up a modern replacement. I can recommend this guy: http://personalpages.tds.net/%7Ercarlsen/custom%20ps.html He is well known in the US for Commodore repairs etc... I personally have 2 of his white metal box type power supplies (I think they are $55) 1 for my 64 and 1 for the 128. They are not the cheapest of course, but they will last and Ray stands by his work. email: rcarlsen at tds dot net
  3. I don't think the C256 will be for everyone. Unlike the Mega65 there will be no 64 mode. I believe the only thing it will have from a 64 will be an FPGA SID implementation. This will be a new 8-bit platform, a what if? I suppose. The design will be open source so anyone later can pick it up and do what they like as well. There is a post on the website that mentions why make this when there is the Mega65.
  4. Seems a couple of new videos have been released on the C256 if you are interested: System architecture: Memory map:
  5. I'm a big fan of Udemy.com, every time there is a sale, I take a look and see if there is anything I might want to learn. Today I found a new Atari 2600 programming course. It's on sale now for $19.99: https://www.udemy.com/programming-games-for-the-atari-2600/ I figured I'd share it here. Hopefully it would be useful to someone. Never pay the full price at Udemy though. They always have sales for as low as $9.99 for a course so it pays to wait until the sale comes up, which is pretty often
  6. Hi George, thanks, I will probably end up getting it anyway for my Atari 800 even though I have an 820 Who knows how many of these he has left there. Just wanted to ask here first in case someone already tried it.
  7. I was thinking of picking up one of the new old stock Centronics printers that Best Electronics still has for sale for use with my Atari 800. Anyone ever try to use it with a TRS-80? I assume it should work, they are just rebranded Centronics printers, but I could be wrong.
  8. Great, you're welcome! It's nice that he still offers to do this.
  9. Try here: http://www.trs-80.com/trs80-main-disketterequest.htm This is what I used when I purchased a Model 4 without floppies. Until I discovered the FreHD Here is the main site: http://www.trs-80.com/wordpress/ Of course you are expected to make a small donation to help cover the costs.
  10. Yes that is a good point. I still have a working 1902 (for RGBI) that I will keep for my real 128, but I've been using a Sony PVM (s-video) with my 64 for a while. I'm looking forward to reclaiming some desk space by having 1 good quality monitor for my 64 and 128. For those who don't currently have an RGBI monitor for the 128, I think we should wait and see how good or bad the 80 column on s-video looks before we condemn the The 128 Remastered. I guess we shall see in Q3 2019.
  11. That's good news! I'm only a part-time Apple II user, but it's hard for me to resist these items when they become available.
  12. I think we should wait to see the results before we write it off. Nobody said you had to adapt anything after paying $300. I still have and use a real 128 (with 1571s) myself but am picking up one of these for future use. There are over 163 orders so far that I can see so apparently I'm not alone in thinking it will be useful.
  13. I guess this 4D sold for $1025 it seems. The plain model 4 sold for $400 with 1 bid.
  14. This is a pretty cool! I found a video on YouTube that describes a bit more about it in case you don't know (like me) anything about it: I have a CFFA3000, just need this and the Uthernet II card
  15. Hello, I have both the Reloaded 1 and 2 with a Turbo Chameleon 64. The Reloaded board that you have should be a lot closer to the original 64 (compatibility) than the Ultimate 64 since you are using the real ICs for the most part (there is a substitute for some things like the PLA and clock generator). When you use the Turbo Chameleon in cartridge mode, it's only swapping out a few things like the CPU, memory and maybe the kernal. Some of the folks working on the Turbo Chameleon implementation also work on VICE so it's pretty accurate as far as FPGA implementations go, but there are bugs still. I have 1541 Ultimate+ (which you didn't mention in your post) but really don't use it much, it's just a backup. The Turbo Chameleon has a few things the 1541 Ultimate II+ doesn't have. One that I like the most is it doesn't tie up my IEC port. With the TC64 you can also use the other cores like the Amiga while it's still plugged into the 64, something I didn't know myself when I first purchased it. Also, only the 64 core is officially maintained by iComp so for anything else there may be issues that are never fixed or updated. I use a MiSTer now for anything not Commodore 64 related. I was using FPGA Arcade Replay for a while, but things move very slowly with that piece of kit it seems. You'll just need to decide between the Turbo Chameleon 64 or the 1541 Ultimate II+ since you already have a Reloaded MK2 (in my opinion). But if you are like me, you will get the Ultimate 64 eventually as well
  16. You can buy direct from their website as well: https://boysontech.com/marketplace One of the main reasons I bought it was for: http://users.axess.com/twilight/sock/dk/ I don't know enough about the Color Computer to list what games are available for it that need 512k though.
  17. I don't know, I bought a Model 4 non-gate array in the original box and didn't have a problem with it shipping from Arizona to the east coast. Maybe I was lucky? Although I recently purchased a brand new Apple II monitor (in the original box) and when it arrived, I found it broke the 4 plastic mounts. The picture tube is just floating around in the case loose now. Surprisingly it still works!
  18. I just read they are going to reconsider the offer from Lampert. So there may yet be hope! Oh, I guess I should have read the article you linked, it says that very thing!
  19. Did you note the # of keyboard flashes? There is info on what it can mean here: https://ftp.fau.de/aminet/docs/hard/errormessages.txt IN CASE OF FAILUREAfter informing the computer that the self-test has failed, thekeyboard will then try to notify the user that it is in trouble. This is done by blinking the CAPS-LOCK light. Here is the code:One blink The keyboard ROM check failedTwo blinks The keyboard RAM check failedThree blinks The watchdog timer test failedFour blinks A short exists between two row lines or one of the seven special control keys I use either a 1080 RGB monitor or an Indivision ECS with my Amiga so can't offer any experience with the A520.
  20. Appreciate the effort making this guide! I purchased OS 3.1.4 recently and have an ACA500 plus, but haven't done much with the version 3.1.4 stuff yet. Looking forward to the 2nd part. Update: Oops. I didn't realize the 2nd part was already available: http://www.amigapassion.co.uk/installing-amigaos-3-1-4-on-an-aca500-plus-in-fact-any-amiga/
  21. Thanks, I'll see what it's all about. I guess I have more machines than time to keep up with it all
  22. Seems someone else is making these 512k RAM upgrades now for the CoCo3: https://www.ebay.com/itm/283317666650 They have a website as well: https://boysontech.com/ I only had heard of the Cloud-9 Triad until spotting this on eBay.
  23. I didn't know these existed. Would have been nice to have when I was trying out my HxC on the Amiga.
  24. I bought my HxC from this guy: https://lotharek.pl/productdetail.php?id=30 along with various Atari related items. There might be others of course that sell them. I've used it on my TRS-80 plus tried it on the Amiga and then went the ACA500 route myself.
  25. Good points! I completely forgot about the incompatibility with NTSC Rev 5 machines. They were supposedly looking into it but I had moved on to Rev 6A myself to get around the issue. Hopefully he doesn't have a Rev 5. While I love my Amiga 500 and use it for mostly a development machine, I found the Amiga 1200 was much easier to use for a games machine. Finding ADFs that are NTSC has always been a tricky proposition. And WHDload can be a bit involved to get it all working. I have an XRGB-Mini Framemeister that I purchased to use with my Commodore 64. I can recommend it if you really want HDMI output, however, it will be pricey! They stopped making them for a while but I think they are maybe in production again, I'm not sure. I have never used it with the Amiga though. One thing about the XRGB-Mini if you get one, you'll need a cable from the Amiga RGB to the mini. It comes with what looks like a Euro SCART cable but it is not. It's a JP21 so don't use it without an adapter. My XRGB-Mini is there just as a spare device for when my real monitors no longer work these days. Update: Interestingly I don't see any disclaimer on the ACA500plus page now for the NTSC Rev 5 machines. Have they resolved the issue? Good question. I had the original ACA500 when I had the Rev 5 board. I found a post on the English Amiga Board from Jens that states the ACA500plus works just fine now with the NTSC Rev 5 machines (which is good to know): "The Rev.5 NTSC version was critical with the previous version, but it's not any more with the ACA500plus." http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=79303&page=21
