  2. Hi Everyone, and Greg - many thanks! All I needed to do was run the post update script and things came back - and the new upgrade was in. Much appreciated!
  3. Nope, I did ssh into the PI and expand the boot drive. Should I not do that?
  4. Hi All, Got the PEB card, and a PI, and the latest image. When I use option U to upgrade, it sits forever - and never works again. If I CALL TIPI from basic, after 6 hours of waiting, it just locks up the machine. LED is on solid. Any ideas?
  5. How long should the upgrade take? Mine has been running for about 30 min. PI3 B+ and PEB card. Do I go to bed and let it run all night???
  6. Incredible - I would definitely be interested in buying.
  7. Every new mint machine I have bought on eBay was broken in some way. Best to just collect a few and build one from the best possible parts. Nice case, keyboard and so on...
  8. Yeah, I tried to purchase from SNUG several times and they clearly didn't have it together. Should have turned the operation over to Mr Greg!
  9. Heck, I will try any new storage tech... I am desperate for a DSK device that can expand past 2880 sectors.
  10. Just for kicks, I went through the manual in detail and it looks like this card has the additional 32K chip on it making the TI 32K expansion redundant. Tried pulling the TI memory card and replacing with the new Horizon, no dice. Machine freaked. When reset, it would screech out or land in the F18A screen.
  11. It's always interesting to see where these things go. My console is the original I bought in 1981 by way of eBay. Seller in Dallas was unloading a bunch of gear and it appears to have gone from my aunt's garage sale, to his collection, into storage, and then sold on eBay when he realized that 20 or so years later he wasn't going to do anything with this stuff. Still had my Dallas phone number scratched into the underside of the console. Didn't know this until I opened the box and took a look at the machine.
  12. Here are some pictures of the new card. In the PEB I have; Flex Cable 32K WHT SCSI SID Master RS-232 w HDX PGRAM+ (Thanks Marc! ) Myarc DDCC-1 Have tried picking different / non-conflicting CRU's to no avail. Have examined every solder trace on the board and nothing appears to be split off. Also, the wire in the box is free of solder at each end so I'm suspecting it might be a stray wire in the box and not actually from the card. (it's also black, and there are no other wires on the card that match it - front or back) The batteries, remarkably are good... I am contemplating switching them out with a new set of alkalines but have no idea if that'll have a negative impact on the situation. The rechargeable batteries are charged. I am tempted to press and re-seat, but as most chips are triple-stacked I'm not comfortable prying these bad boys up. See for yourselves...
  13. Agreed on the comparison to the Gram Kracker... I paid $150 for mine - and that was several years ago. If you do end up selling it - let me know when you post it on eBay. I could use one for my second machine. I'd probably go as high as $250 if I was bidding.
  14. Hi All, I am now up to two dead horizon cards... the latest, to arrive from eBay was poorly packed and a wire came off. No idea where it originated, or to what it was connected. I suspect the card left the shipper in good condition but you know how these things go. Can anyone recommend someone I could reach out to fix these things. I have two... The other dead card worked at one point, but was taken out when my PEB experienced a voltage spike. Marc Hull was incredible and fixed a PGRAM+ card that was fried by the same spike. Happy to pay the cost of shipping, parts and labor - would like to get both cards going... Anyone willing to give this old timer a hand? (or should I just wait for the PI in the PEB) Thank you, Arthur...
  15. Hi Everyone, been trying to dig up the docs for TI Videochess, anyone happen to know where the heck (meaning wht) there might be a scanned copy of the manual. Been looking... but not finding. Looking for a PDF... Can anyone please point me in the right direction?
  16. The HDX mod for my RS232 card wins this hands down. The ability to back up floppies and hard disks to the network is invaluable.

  18. Well, this was spendy... $405.00 - but I am excited to see how well it works with TI-BASE. Right now, I am using a DDCC-1 in my primary TI w PEB. It's been rock solid talking to two Lotharek floppy emulators and a 5.25 external drive. My issue with TI-BASE stems from it's buggy nature talking to hard disks or HDX. I am currently using it with a WDS SCSI controller and Syquest hard disk. It works... but it's wonky. The only devices I have had any luck with are Horizon RAM cards and floppy controllers. Sadly, after 35 years of production use my data is has grown beyond the capacity of a 2880 sector diskette. Hoping the HFDC works with TI-BASE, if it doesn't then look for it on eBay again or I'm happy to sell it to a community member for what I paid for it.

  21. No worries - I do understand how these things come and go. Appreciate the update!
  22. Yep - WHT SCSI with a single Syquest SQ-200 on it (200 MB hard disk). So the black box has both a floppy cable and a 50 pin SCSI cable coming out of the back. Diskette is a DS/DD TEAC 5.25 drive I bought NOS on eBay.
  23. Hi All, Anyone have a copy of ARC that is newer than ARC5 BETA? Trying to use it with HDX1. and SCS1. When I catalog a WDS1, SCS1 or HDX1 - I get 0 files, 0 directories. No matter what non-diskette output device I choose, it seems to want to use SCS1. (always at the root directory) for storing the archive regardless of path designation. I understand from the readme that the version was very beta... anything a little less so??? Otherwise - it looks ideal for backing up my TI Base files. Happy New Year everyone!
