  1. According to this website, there is a marriage proposal screen accessible on all retail copies of this cartridge by holding a specific combination of buttons on startup. I have attempted this with both original hardware and also the Retron HD77 as well as original joysticks and modern. Nothing I did would result in seeing this screen, all I kept getting was the 4 game selection screen you're supposed to get on boot. Has anyone successfully been able to see this screen?
  2. Ah, thanks! I remember now, you run Atarimania, I use that site a lot. I think I have some obscure boxes you're missing from your site as well, you're welcome to scans of them. As well as some cartridges and manuals I noticed you were missing.
  3. I found one more today. What is this? Pack-in for the Gemini console?
  4. I just went through all of my Spectravision and Spectravideo cartridges, I have a lot of them. The only one I can see with a C after the model is a Bumper Bash I found in a $5 bin at a local game store about 2 years ago. I have a complete copy as well but that one doesn't have the C. I also found Planet Patrol from both companies, what's the difference with these?
  5. Thanks, that's very helpful! That explains why almost every game in the lot os a variant to the one I already have. They're all different in some way.
  6. That makes sense, thanks a lot. Are they actually PAL or could they just be Canadian NTSC? I got the entire lot from someone here in Canada and they all seem to be from the same meticulous owner since they're all from a similar time period and opened in the same careful manner without damaging the box. Funny thing about the French, the Skiing box is actually labelled Le Ski for some reason. I don't know if it's from a French country or if that's just how Canada did it.
  7. I bought a larger lot of games off someone and many of them appear to be either very early releases or some sort of pre-production copies. I'm hoping someone here can help me identify what I have here, if anything at all. This Beamrider is strange, the cartridge inside is in a tray instead of just being inside the box and the tray is designed to hold it on an angle. There's also no writing on the back at all compared to my other copy. And why doesn't this copy of Fireworld have a barcode? And contest promotion? It's also REV 2 while every other copy I've seen is REV 1.
  8. I found this at a local game store yesterday and I've never seen a Frogger like this before. Is this from the factory or is it a bootleg? It seems to be about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch wider than other cartridges and doesn't have the slanted end label.
  9. Thanks, I appreciate it very much. I was already pretty sure about the NES, I got them all from a well known prototype collector and they did come with multiple SLROM and AOROM boards, as well as multiple other NES and Game Boy prototype chips / boards. I do have more picture of the NES but what you see in the photo is PM = Pac Man, AS = Alien Sydrome, AB = After Burder, KC = Kitty's Catch, SX = Skull And Crossbones, RR = Road Runner, TB = Toobin' and it goes on from there. The ones in the photo may be the same as final ROM but I know for sure Gauntlet (not pictured) and some others have differences from the final releases just from a quick play through I did. I was really curious about the Atari chips, I'm a pretty aggressive prototype collector and decided to take a chance on them, I appreciate the feedback that these are likely worthless.
  10. More like this? I have about a 100 of these NES chips. This is almost a complete library of Tengen games.
  11. Thanks. Last question, how do you know they're not prototypes?
  12. Thanks, I took a chance on them already for about $230 CAD, sounds like a bad buy. What do you think they're worth?
  13. I found all of these from a single seller that had a lot of old vintage gaming hardware. They appear to be prototypes but do you think they are? Do you think someone could have made them recently as a joke? My main concern is there's such a wide range here frm licnsed Atari games all the way to scarce games like Jawbreaker, there doesn't seem to be any sort of pattern with the titles. What do you think these are?
  14. Very cool thread, I enjoyed reading it. Keep going. I have multiple copies of Bumper Bash and Master Builder if you still need those, I'm willing to trade.
  15. Search is over, I purchased a huge lot of over 100 prototypes and development chips, including many unreleased games. Thanks, everyone.
  16. You weren't doing me any favours. We're all collectors here and as a pretty hardcore collector myself, I had a lot of respect for you and was willing to do whatever it was you needed to make the deal. I still have no idea what Western Union is so mentioning it to you didn't seem like a big deal to me, I was just offering suggestions. My girlfriend suggested it to me so I suggested it to you. A simple no would have worked as well, is it some sort of scam system or something? I literally have no idea what Western Union is for. It's all good, it didn't work out with us, that's fine. No hard feelings, I just don't think I did anything to kill the deal. It's unfortunate I don't have the reputation here I have elsewhere for being known as such a large collector. Take care.
  17. I'm currently willing to match his price and also use any payment method he accepts, and have been since 8% into this conversation. He has since cancelled the deal for reasons I do not fully understand. I wrote everything that happened. It sounds like it doesn't make sense to you.........it doesn't make sense to me neither. Like I said, I'm completely open to him posting something that happened which I did not include. I literally posted everything here that occurred between us, I left nothing out. I don't think he's a bad guy neither, not at all. I just posted my experience and that's all.
  18. I have to give him a negative. Not as any sort of punishment but this thread is to let people know how deals with him went, right? I had a negative experience with him so you can make up your own minds here. January 27 - I contact CPUWIZ here asking if he still has a complete Tooth Protectors I saw he had last year. I've been looking for this game for years. He tells me he does but will need to dig it out. January 29 - He asks me to make him an offer. I see cartridges sell for $300 CAD so I triple it and offer $900 CAD which is about $700 USD. He tells me he won't take less than $1100. I offer him $1000, no response. February 4 - I finally agree and offer $1100 shipped. He responds that he will dig it out of storage. February 7 - I ask him to please not forget. He tells me he hasn't had time. February 15 - I ask if he has had time yet. No response. February 18 - I ask if he changed his mind on selling it. He tells me he has not. February 21 - I offer him $1200 shipped if he can find it within the next 10 days. February 28 - He says he found it and sends me more photos. March 1 - I ask for his PayPal address to send the payment. March 1 to 3 - We go back and forth for 2 days, he tells me he prefers cashier's cheque, personal cheque or cash in the mail because he doesn't use PayPal. I do some research on if I can trust him and find a thread here from when he was recently in the hospital so I write him to express my concern for him. He tells me what happened. March 5 - I ask for his address to mail the cheque and tell him I'll buy a lot more from him if he has more R9 or R10 stuff, I'm a pretty big collector of strange and rare things. March 6 - He gives me his address. March 10 - I message him letting him know I'm having trouble figuring out payment because a personal cheque won't work as it'll be in CAD. My girlfriend suggested something called Western Union (I had never heard of it) so I offered that to him. I also offered to email it if my bank will allow me to email USD. He tells me I have now worried him and asks how he can trust me not to scam him. March 11 - I offer him all my reputation on other forums, my phone number, whatever he needs. I ask if he has a Hong Kong bank account because my girlfriend does and I can just transfer USD that way. He asks if I can pay a friend through PayPal and they can then pay him via other means. I then send him this message: "What I'll do is go out and get a money order or something for you and mail it. I will have zero way of protecting my payment but according to lots of people on this forum, I should be able to trust you. Does that work for you?" He tells me he's looking into other options and asks if I have a PayPal debit card. I've never heard of such a thing, it might be USA only. March 11 (later) - He sends me an option to buy him $200 in digital gift cards for one website, $500 in digital gift cards for another website and then the remainder, plus shipping through his wife's PayPal. I tell him we agreed to $1100 shipped, not plus shipping and I even bumped it up to $1200 shipped so that should cover the extra. I then tell him I'll go out tomorrow and get him a money order or bank cheque or whatever they suggest at the bank and ask if that works for him since it's exactly what he suggested previously. I then also offer to send him the money order / bank cheque and ALSO send the same amount through PayPal to any board member he trusts to hold it in trust. If he's happy with the money order / cheque, that person can refund me the PayPal, otherwise they send it to him somehow. I am willing to do whatever he needs here. March 11 (even later) - He tells me he never agreed to $1100. Wait, what? I tell him I'm confused, I thought we were in agreement this whole time and he tells me he wanted $1250 but came down to $1200 when I suggested it. Sure, whatever works here, so I send him this message: "Okay, does $1200 still work? I'm just trying to figure out how to make this work here." March 12 - He writes back telling me he doesn't do money orders because he still has one from someone else that he can't cash. He tells me if I want to do the deal, I have to do it the way he suggested with the gift cards. I send him this message: "I don't need to do the money order but I'm curious, what's wrong with the one you have? Just bring it to the bank and cash it, I don't understand. What about cashier's cheque like you mentioned? I've never done that before but will that work? Otherwise I can check out the gift card idea." The reason I was asking him that is because I've never heard of that, do money orders work differently in the USA or something? They're like cash here, you just bring it to the bank so I don't understand what that means. That's like someone telling me they don't accept cash because nobody wants it.........it doesn't make sense. March 12 (later) - Literally in response to my previous message, without hiding anything in between, he sends me this message: "Ok, I have decided that I am not going to sell anything outside the U.S. anymore. I am a very busy person and I really don't have time for it, I work on videogames 10 hours a day. I wish you the best of luck with your continuing quest. Sorry it didn't work out." Me: "Come on man, please don't be like that, I'm trying my best to work this out. I'll likely buy a lot more from you if you have other R10 items after this. " Me again: "Actually, I have friends in the USA. Would you sell to one of them if they sent you whatever payment method you wanted? I will do whatever method you want and you can mail it to their house, then they can mail it to me. Is that better for you?" Me this morning: "Hey, I really want to make sure you're ignoring me now, I was pretty sure you'd go for the USA sale." No response from him, he's just ignoring me now.......that's rude. I don't think I wrote anything negative at any point in this transaction and I invite him to debate anything I wrote. I'm trying to make this work, I think I was pretty flexible at all points of the communication. What did I do wrong to deserve that? What's wrong with a money order? Cashier's cheques? Email transfer? I literally can't scam him with these methods, I don't know what I did wrong here. Anyway, that's my experience which was negative, unfortunately. I can't say he's a bad guy, I'm just offering what happened and I hope other people can use the information however they see fit. I really hope there's some way I can work deals out with him in the future, I'd be willing to buy a whole load of stuff from him when he's ready to deal.
  19. I have thousands of games, hundreds of them Atari but here are just some of the highlights. All pricing CAD. I bought a pile of games from a local shop recently and he had about 10 with weird PAL labels and some of them you couldn't read well so I agreed to throw them in with the lot for $5 each. It wasn't until I got home and put a little more effort into looking at the labels and realized one of them was this Bumper Bash. Pretty good deal for $5. This is one from that lot purchase, I think I paid $450 for this one. A local collector asked me if I wanted this one for $60 so of course I did. The silver label Gravitar is pretty uncommon. A local pawn shop had this for $50. I waited for a 30% off sale and got it for $35. I knew I wanted one of these misspelled variants as soon as I first heard they existed. I think I paid $5 for it. My boss in 2012 found out I collected video games so he asked if I wanted a big box of his childhood games. A few weeks later he brought them into work and gave me the entire box for free, it was filled with all the best 2600, NES, SNES and PlayStation games plus a pile of consoles. This is one of the games from that lot. He also gave me the audio cord for the Kid Vid system and said he had the system at home somewhere but couldn't find it. I tracked down this cassette a few years later from eBay for about $20. The most valuable game from that free lot was this one. This one I got from Atari Age, it's probably the 2600 game that gives me the most fun play. A few years back there was a seller on eBay selling these sealed Mystique games for $50 each or case packs of 6 for $300. I considered buying a case but I collect, I don't invest, so I just bought one. Oops, at least I haven't opened it. A local collector (same one as Gravitar) called and asked if I wanted to buy 3 games from him for $600. This is one of those three games. I don't often look at eBay because it's such a pain in the ass but one day I did see a load of Sears Telegames black box games with a boxed system listed for $150. This is just one of the games, I probably got about 10 of them with that lot. There's a local vintage game store I go to a lot and the owner knows I collect Atari so he asked if I wanted a pile of these empty Zellers boxes for free. He probably gave me 6 of them. I have since gotten the games, some I bought from him. This is the second game from the 3 game $600 lot. This is the third game. I bought this sealed game from a guy on eBay for $11 and I liked it because it shows Atari's cost cutting decisions late in their life to sell monochrome boxes. I should have bought a whole lot more but games were really cheap back then, nobody wanted 2600. I wanted to split shipping while I was buying form eBay so I looked around on that same seller's store for what else he was selling that I didn't already have and Skate Boardin' is one I didn't yet have in my collection so I picked this up for $8. It's also sealed. Same local game store, I bought a big pile of these bootleg PAL games with really cool box art on them. This is just one of them. I recently contacted someone here that listed a bunch of prototypes for sale and this is one of them. It's Frog Pond for 2600. They also had Dukes Of Hazzard which I understand has a unique history, not being sold until after Best bought Atari's old stock and finding these PCB. Same local game store, they had this in their cabinet for $150 and I initially passed on it until I did more research and realized this was a less common version worth over $1000, they must have priced it off the 8-Bit version which is more common. I contacted them and bought it as soon as I realized. Same guy from this forum, he had Malagai and Gauntlet chips from Answer software for sale. I know these are R9 and R10 games so even though they didn't come with shells, I had to have them. I had another member here named BAH create shells for me to put them in to play them. Gauntlet works but Malagai doesn't. That's it for Atari 2600 but I have other weird stuff. Here are some TRS-80 games I bought for $5 each and have been trying to sell for $5 - $10 each recently. I changed my mind on wanting them. I have a habit of buying really strange things that I see so for some reason I bought this Socrates and a nearly complete library of games for it. I think I'll be getting rid of this soon, no idea for what. I also don't remember what I paid but probably $10. Someone locally was selling this for $20 so I bought it. I have no idea what this is, I think I got it for free. Also no idea but this box is huge! Hand for comparison. Why do I have this? I don't even know anymore. Another huge boxed game for something. I have no idea what this is. Same local game store asked if I wanted this thrown in with my other purchases for $50. Yes I do! Same seller from this forum, he told me this was for Atari 2600 but it clearly isn't. I only kept it because it's a big name title (Jr. Pac-Man). Also from the local game store, I think I paid $150 for this. Apparently it was common for this company to just put another label over an existing label on their games and the glue was so terrible they would fall off. Boxed Atari systems I've found at garage sales and eBay lots. The Sears Telegames is from the lot I mentioned earlier, the 1040 STe was $10 at a local garage sale. They offered me the monitor for $20 and I declined.......oops. The Odyssey box was free I think, or maybe I paid $10. I'm not sure why I have a VIC 20, I'll probably sell it at some point. I got it in a lot. I've got bins for days of Intellivision games I bought for $2 each and have been trying to unload for $3 each but nobody seems to want them. Some are sealed. Some weird TV Fun system I bought for $10.
  20. Nope, just if I can trust him. From what I've been reading, I definitely don't have to worry.
  21. How did you guys pay? He doesn't take PayPal and I'm worried about sending money with no way to complain if I don't get my item. Should I be worried?
  22. I thought I'd have 50 messages by now. Nobody wants to sell a $1000+ item?
  23. I have some money to spend on a game for my collection so I'm curious what people have to offer. You can message me privately if you prefer, or just post here. Probably the only things I would consider are: Atari 2600 games, preferably complete NES games, preferably complete prototypes for Atari 2600 or NES Maximum 2 games totalling over $1000, I don't want 15 games and I don't want your $200 game If you break the rules, I will not respond. I can add some more cash if I want your item badly enough.
  24. Any more interest for the lot? Make an offer, any offer or they're going into a storage box.
  25. Oh, part 2 of Sydney Hunter from Collectorvision is not the same game as the second release of Sydney Hunter from Collectorvision? I'll take your word for it, you can ignore this. Thanks.
