  1. It was nice to meet and chat with you @Albert. Two layers of THIS under a carpet runner behind the table will help with your feet a lot!
  2. Yeah, I have 4K and 8K. I'm looking for a bin of the original with just the two changes. I am going to try to hack it myself.
  3. Here's a thought. What would everyone think if the original Frye Pac Man was changed only slightly to have a black background and blue maze as the ONLY changes? Has it been done? Is anyone here capable of making that change as I presume it may be as simple as changing two register values? I've never coded for the 2600 otherwise, I'd probably try it. Just curious how much less annoying the game would be with better colors.
  4. Bummer, I didn't realize Todd Frye was at the AA both. I did get a chance to talk to Howard Scott Warsaw quite a bit a couple of times. I think he's a super cool guy. He'd be fun to work with. Got his book and DVD. He also doesn't charge for autographs...I didn't even think about bringing all my carts.
  5. I'm in my 50's. Gamepads just never felt right in my hands. I even have a CX40 modded for my NES.
  6. Yeah, Kinda what I was thinking.
  7. Not sure who owns it, but yes, if Atari Games does, then I would assume Kee Comes too. That's pretty shitty. X2 That it would.
  8. Anyone know why the PPII label was black when all the rest were silver?
  9. I voted for #2, but don't also forget Kee Games...
  10. I loved 2600 Defender and played the hell out of it. Defender was one of the arcade games I played the most because our local grocery store had one. I rode my bike every Saturday 2 miles in 110* heat to play that thing. The Cityscape was probably due to 4K limitations, but It made more sense to have the landers "beam" people up out of a city than wandering out in the mountains. The little Beam up feature was cool. No other version has that. Just pretend you are flying over Caprica. I was surprised that the scanner was present. Yes, the swarmers were lame, and the SB/HS activation was nearly useless. Why they didn't use the Keyboard/VTP/KC for this game with a joystick is beyond me, but they would probably have to sell it like Star Raiders, with a pack-in VTP. Maybe nobody thought of it? IMO, Atari really should have released some sort of arcade stick with extra buttons like the NES advantage either 7800 style wiring or using all 12 inputs in the keyboard matrix yet mapped to joystick positions and 3-4 buttons too perhaps, or a game pad, but game pads were not really a thing yet, and I'm not sure how much overhead it would take to read the matrix and also have minimal to no lag on the controls. IIRC Defender was a $30+ game so asking people to buy another controller may have been out of the question. They had no choice with Star Raiders. I got over the ship disappearing thing. It's like an extra windshield pillar in a minivan, you don't notice it after a while. I still play it, probably more so than stargate, but I have built my new controller for Stargate. Quite honestly, it surprises me that nobody has made a controller schem using the 12 input matrix for direction control and buttons... Atari or otherwise. All moot perhaps, as the creator of the Mega adapter seems to have created a serial port protocol complete with code to implement it. Bravo for that. I hope to see it put into use in future 2600 and 7800 games.
  11. It Depends. I generally use my 7800 two button modded, well worn CX40, But I have a homebuilt Asteroids controller and in the process of building a two-cable multi-controller that has all the buttons for Stargate, Asteroids, a full joystick, and pinball buttons on the side like the Video Pinball console.
  12. Seriously? I'm in my Mid 50's and far away from needing either of those, kiddo.
  13. A Lunar Lander thrust controller is nothing more than a pot with a well weighted, spring loaded lever on it. Fun Fact. LL and Asteroids share the same cabinet. Many early Asteroids cabinets had LL side art since Asteroids was a runaway success.
  14. The maze flashes? I don't remember that, but then I never made it to the end of a screen. Couldn't stand it. LOL. The "Worst" game is subject to every individual's interpretations. Many were horrible at best. People think Starship was the worst. I loved that game and still do, but yeah, it certainly won't win any best game awards. It's just how it felt playing it at 10 years old. Another way to define worst is how one felt after spending their hard earned allowance on a turd. For me, that was Donkey Kong. I happened to notice it at Smitty's one day when not even shopping for games, but Photo develop chemicals. Smittys, was basically like Fred Meyer to those familiar with that store. They sold everything and groceries, sort of like a target but more grocery and less sundries. Anyway. I spent my money on DK and took it home. Boy was I pissed. I had my mom drive back to the store the next day and returned it and bought the Developer I needed instead. THAT is my worst 2600 game. I will say, it is better than The INTV version... My two cents.
  15. I often wondered if they ever considered making wells in the 2600 case to store the joysticks like in the unreleased Tank Console since they ditched the speakers.
  16. If anyone here lives in the Phoenix Metro area, There was and may still be one at the AZ Science Center.
  17. Hi Karl, Have you looked into Media Mail? In the US, postage on printed materials (books) is reduced. Perhaps you could work out a deal to ship them to someone here like a distributor (AA maybe?) who can then take advantage of media mail to ship them. Just prepack them for individual shipping and put them in a large box and only pay one large international shipment. Maybe that would help, maybe not. Worth a look though.
  18. No remake can do the original justice. The sound, visuals, and feel of the original in it's standup cabinet with the throttle lever, lighted bezel, arcade noise in the background and even the vibrating speaker grille on some cabinets from the deep bass of the thrust. Nope. Cannot recreate or better that.
  19. Yeah, for sure. I'd expect to pay additional if they were to come out. So, who has the shells? Can I get the one I paid $100 for? I'm sure glad I had the things I ordered with the XM shipped separately about a year after I asked for it. Serious question. I could think of a couple of things to use it for, mainly to cover the sad condition of my 7800. 🫤 Yeah, I have a Concerto and put a Pokey in it, but the 7800 GD is looking good.
  20. Who are you replying to? Your post immediately followed mine, without any quoting, so It would appear you are replying to me? I'm an American and the last person anyone would consider a British elitist. I buy homebrews, and I have purchased ROM's...
  21. This one looks great. I think I'll be getting this one at PGRE.
  22. So any update on the XM? There was talk after Curt's sad passing that it may be resurrected by some of the other folks on the project team.
