Repairing an Atari 600XL with screen trash
rgrocha replied to rgrocha's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Thank you!!! I've just transplanted the ANTIC from my Atari 400 to the 600XL (I first cheked they were compatible :-) and it now outputs this and now the culprit of the problem: Does anyone have one spare and want to sell it? As a side effect, when I bring out the 400 from the box I noticed it was not complete, and I put myself in the task to fix it: I replicated the left foam that support the machine on the right side, and made the box that hold the transformator and the other documentation in place, I "replicated" it from a picture I found elsewhere: and everything in place: (the glue was still curing so I left the tape there until next time I open the box :-) Thank you again guys! -
Hi, I was testing my Atari 600XL to sell it as part of my cave clearance and it show the following behaviour: The computer seems to work ok but the display show some trash "sometimes". Take a look a those pictures: This is the boot screen into DOS: If I press any key something change on screen, I think the characters are shown and the cursor advances. With some cartridge games: PacMan start screen and in game: Asteroids: and StarRaider: Al games are playable, the characters move on screen and you can see the shots and the asteroids exploding on Asteroids. Looks like is not a CPU or memory problem. Any clue ? Thank you

I have a friend who works on an electronic repairing service and he told me the PS3 always fails. Even after repairing they last for a year or so (depends on usage). Seems like is an overheating problem. I can't remember if they even reballed some chips. They have a closed full of damaged PS3, of all models.
