  1. I've most of the main components on-hand, so assuming I locate my workbench under this mess I'll be able to build one fairly quickly once you've finalized it.
  2. I thought you were going to really impress us all and fit this into the same space as the basic unit. 😁 Looking forward to the final version! Guess that means I'd better dig my workbench out from under this pile of stuff...
  3. ColecoVision set with Controllers, Expansion modules 1 & 2, cartridges, and more. ColecoVision w/Controllers, Power Supply, Cables ColecoVision Expansion Module #1 - Atari 2600 Expansion ColecoVision Expansion Module #2 - Driving Controller Coleco Cartridges: Donkey Kong Donkey Kong Junior Carnival Turbo Space Panic Smurf Venture Zaxxon Atari 2600 Cartridges, Tapes: Space Invaders Golf Yars' Revenge Championship Soccer Bump 'N' Jump Dark Cavern Arcadia/Starpath SuperCharger Killer Satellites (SuperCharger tape) Communist Mutants From Space (SuperCharger tape) All for $75. Local pickup only near Playa Vista (Los Angeles, California).
  4. I recommend cutting the legs of the crystal shorter so that it's as close as possible to the capacitors.
  5. I just updated SimTest to version 0.9. No functionality changes to the memory tests themselves, but a few improvements to the interface: Allow additional tests after failed test (clear display and reset error count). Display message when memory test passes. Show extended memory map at startup. Removed redundant memory save location. Corrected display position error during memory tests.
  6. Did you install another Linux instance other than ChromeOS? If not, you'll need to do that first after enabling developer mode.
  7. Brad will be Brad, you either have to play by his strange rules or look elsewhere.
  8. Nice! I really like my 800 Cherry keyboard, now I'm going to have to make one for my 800. I knew I should have ordered a boatload of switches. Thank you for sharing this.
  9. The "Southwest" part got my hopes up, but I've never heard of Dallas being referred to as part of the Southwest. Oh well, it was another post about an event barely a week after the post. A bit more of a heads up would likely help get even more attendees.
  10. He was just asking about which side of the EPROM holds the eight 16K ROM slots since it's a 2 megabit EPROM, but the current setup is only configured to use a 1 megabit. The order of the ROM slot though is not like a typical layout where it's a straightforward map of C000-FFFF. The main OS ROM is on the lower side of the slot instead of the upper side as typically found, and this can be changed in the GPB by a CPLD update. Then you could dump a ROM from Altirra for example and use that without modifying it.
  11. Each slot is 16K, with the layout being: 0000-1FFF Main OS 2000-2FFF Optional High OS (C000-CFFF) 3000-37FF Blank (0xFF) 3800-3FFF FP Math Unfortunately, this is not the layout chosen by most other devices, including Altirra. Perhaps Panos would be willing to change this in the next revision? Yes, only use the low side of the EPROM.
  12. Now you just need to update to version 1.6.
  13. Indeed, the glitches in the display are perfectly normal as they occur first when SimCheck goes through the display RAM, at which point you'll see one screen character get changed at a time, moving down the list, though you won't see every character change due to the speed at which the tests occur, then you'll have the entire screen blanking out when the test gets performed in areas occupied by things such as the display list, which gets disabled intermittently. SimCheck also uses two different test loops so that it can test memory space occupied by SimCheck, first using one routine, then using a different one in another part of memory.
  14. I'm afraid not, these do not have any hardware address presence on the Atari, they simply handle the output side. Glad you find it useful.
  15. Good idea! I've added having SimCheck show when it's unable to determine the Basic version. This version also hopefully finally fixes the GTIA/CTIA detection.
  16. When run from a cartridge, SimCheck cannot enable Basic to check the version since it would occupy the same memory space.
  17. I've seen capacitor issues on Atari computers, but it depends on where they've been. I think it might just come down to the temperatures they've spent their lives in. Cool climates, no problem. Hot climate systems seem to have more problems.
  18. Sounds like CPU, MMU, or ANTIC to me, in that order of most likely suspects.
  19. Glad someone thinks so (my previous post was sarcasm obviously)! A number of people in the Los Angeles area back in the day, but I don't think it made it any further. I did the rewrite just to learn about writing assembly programs for the Atari.
  20. There's also... See the last post for the rewritten version.
  21. I've not been playing Atari games much in quite awhile, or even much in the way of PC or VR games lately. Just so much going on I guess. I guess I'll have the SRAM here and available for if I ever do decide I need this. As for the TK-II code, is this anything that you might also be changing in the regular (576K) version?
  22. I was going to do this, then I thought about it and I really don't know of anything I would run on the 576NUC+ that needs 1MB of RAM, and it's just so clean looking as is. I can't bring myself to bend pins and add wires.
  23. I was just looking at it and there is 9.2mm of space above the Atari chips, minus the length of the pins sticking out under the FujiNet or SDrive, and I think it can absolutely be done with an oddly shaped PCB that has headers to plug in place of the SRAM, PIA, and PLDs, then moving these chips to the add-on board with an extra SRAM, but I'm just not seeing the practicality of it. Just piggybacking them and making the few connections as you've done just seems better.
  24. Ha! I have a copule of AS6C4008-55PCN in stock!
