  1. Getting ready to set up a couple tables at this years "NWCGE VIDEO GAME SWAP MEET" in Portland, Jan. 18th 10-7! If your local, stop by and say hello. Tables 71 & 72 Super Retro Bros.

  2. Give a multi-cart a try, that way you can play all your favorites while looking for good deals on carts. Also Ive found that purchasing lots instead of single carts is usually a better way to get better prices. http://www.atarimax.com/myide/documentation/
  3. Hey everyone, This was in a lot of miscellaneous retro gaming stuff that I recently acquired, Ive never seen one and was wondering if anyone could help me identify it. It's stamped ElecronicArts and has Atari type controller ports, 4 ins and 2 outs. Thanks
  4. cool carts, not sure if they are anything special or not, Ive only seen pics of the Pac Jr, I think it's a fairly rare cart, Ive never seen that plain label DK artwork. !!! Cover up those eprom chips before you erase the rom images
  5. I don't know about using every key on the pad but Miner 2049, Bounty Bob strike Back and Spy Hunter all use several buttons on the keypad. Ive heard that the keypad can be used as directional keys in frogger but I've never tried it.
  6. Those look great, Nice job glazball!
  7. Interesting, no wonder nobody knows anything about the "Chicken" title I'm referring to, I originally played it as a kid on an 800XL. I recently acquired a nice XEGS and the flashcart is on it's way so I should hopefully be able to play this game now right!
  8. Thanks, I have read this on other posts. Sure wish I could find a descent set of CV stock controllers, there seems to be a shortage for some reason, hit me up is you have an extra set laying around that!
  9. Thanks Kiwi. I wonder if the wiring in the keypad could be changed to work properly with the pinout of the CV?
  10. yes I know, I have a system that doesn't have any controllers but I have a ton of atari controllers sitting around, I'm an Atari guy through and through but the Colecovision has always interested me and I picked up a working boxed CV for cheap the other day but it didn't have controllers. I will invest in some proper cv controllers but in the meantime I wanna see what the CV is all about.
  11. Got to thinking about how to get around having to use the stock CV controllers and remembered that I had some Atari 2600 keyboard controllers sitting around, before I dig em out to test I wanted to see if anyone else had any luck with this option: Atari keypad to start games and an atari joystick for gameplay?
  12. Looking for a pair of black 100% working and in nice condition. I can Pay via verified Paypal, please PM me if you have a set, also please include pics if you can and state your price shipped to 97007, Oregon, USA. Thanks
  13. That's a great idea, I wonder why the controls "geeked" on you after a while? Pokey chip...? I don't think there are any chips or controllers in the interface, It would have to be the 5200 right?
  14. Surprised that I can't find a Lode Runner A8 conversion rom for 5200, does one exist? Such a great game!
  15. for a digital controller on a 5200 I use either a "Coin Controls Comp. Pro" (to me these feel kind of bulky and odd in hand, but manageable) or a "slik stik" and Masterplay interface. (a more expensive set up but well worth it to be able to use any 2600/7800 stick on a 5200!) For analog I use a Wico Command Control 5200 with y cable and stock 5200 stick for game start ect. Some games are just better with this stick, for me Moon Patrol must be played with it because of the button configuration (2 buttons on one side of the stick for jump and shoot) Pretty much if you have a Comp. Pro (digital), a Wico (analog), and a working stock 5200 stick you will be set for every game in the 5200 library. You could probably get one of each for around $100 or less and be set!
  16. yeah they have, I wish I could have found one for $120 NIB, and Ive been looking for some time now, $149 buy it now and the seller wouldn't budge at all. I think he listed another one so he must be sitting on a stock pile, lucky bastard!
  17. Your telling me... I just spent a buck and a half on a new in box masterplay off the bay. These days for me its about quality for my collection, I'm being pretty selective and I'm not buying anything out of box, obviously it costs more but I feel better about my overall collection. I do play most of my things though so I see it more as a usable collection not a museum, after all what good is it doing sitting on a shelf collecting dust...
  18. Honestly I think that the XEGS is a good decade ahead in terms of industrial design, I'm sure it's an acquired taste for some but Atari was obviously taking a chance and pushing the boundaries, I thinks it's a sweet looking system that begs to be played!
  19. yes, thank you for the clarification, I just wanted to make the point that there was an 8bit system other than the 5200 marketed by Atari as a dedicated game system and not a "home computer" *Atari2008, I am completely confident that someone who is somewhat passionate about retro gaming and someone who has enough knowledge to run rom emulators such as yourself would have absolutely no problem keeping a 5200 running smoothly. I say go for the 5200 and a few controller options and you will be really happy! I just wanted to point out that there were other options not sway you one way or another. I have a 2600, 7800, 5200 and an 800XL (all with multi carts) and the 5200 gets most of the game play because of the amazing game library, versatility and ease of use.
  20. "I've never considered the Atari 8-bit computers since I solely focus on consoles and am possibly looking for another game system" The XE GS is a dedicated 8-bit Game System based on the 5200 architecture. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_XEGS
