  1. Deckard (Harrison Ford) runs past an Atari sign whilst chasing one of the replicants.
  2. The SIDE2 looks ideal. I think I know what my next purchase will be.
  3. What kind of SD storage devices are available for the A8?
  4. I hadn't thought about one of those, just shows how long I've been out of the Atari scene.
  5. Sorry if this has been covered before. What hard drives can I use with my 800xl? I remember the Supra being advertised back in the day, but I can't find any for sale. Is there any way on using a modern HDD with my elderly machine?
  6. The Barrel roll one doesn't seem to work anymore.
  7. That's why I always pay with PayPal. At least you can get your money back if the seller tries to fleece you.
  8. I've noticed Infocom games going for more than £100. Don't get me wrong, I like their stuff but that's a bit steep.
  9. One seller is advertising an 800 and a 410. The tape unit doesn't work and he can't say if the computer does either. This rarity is a snip at £500.
  10. I'm perusing ebay for bits and bobs to boost my collection. Why do some people feel the need to claim everything and anything as "rare"? It doesn't matter how many identical Atari products are listed on the same page, what they're selling is allegedly as scarce as rocking horse turds. Do they really think we're that daft? Sorry, rant over.

    Geek2014

For anyone living in the southeast of England. Geek 2014 is being held at the Wintergardens Margate. I'm not sure how relevant it will be but the blurb says it will include retro gaming. http://www.geek2014.co.uk/index.html
  12. I thought I'd resurrect this old thread. The "Robot" demo is the reason I bought an Atari 800XL. During the 80's I was a member of a local computer club. At the time I owned an Oric-1, but I was looking to upgrade. The club membership was evenly split between Atari and C64 owners, and the robot demo clinched it for me. That and the C64's disk drive was as slow as continental drift.
  13. I can't dispute that modern Apple products are very aesthetically pleasing to look at, but I feel that it's taken a lot of the inspiration and creativity out of computing. As an analogy, if Apple made sports cars they'd leave out the wheels because they spoil the line.
  14. I sometimes find it hard to believe that the IPad is produced by the same company that made the Apple II, they are so dissimilar.
