The original "Star Wars" opened in US theaters 42 years ago today, on May 25, 1977. Also, the original "Alien" was released (on a limited basis) on the same date 40 years ago today: May 25, 1979.

I've been revisiting the 3D remake of Warlords, the one that shipped with Atari Revival in the early 2000s. I don't know why it got so much criticism at the time: there are a few minor things that I would change, but it's lots of fun ... especially when you get four people playing on a LAN!

I wonder why there's suddenly so much talk about a former treasury secretary? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_W._Snow

WHEW! Final grades are posted, so aside for a few administrative tasks, the semester is OVER! Maybe now I'll finally have time to do something else!

A quick Jr. Pac-Man question: I've noticed significant differences between the sound effects on the 800 and 5200 versions of Jr. Pac-Man (the 5200 version sounds much better). Is the 800 version that's been floating around broken? I'd love to find one that matches the 5200 sound effects.

The Android APIs are seriously starting to annoy me. Doing even the simplest things always seems to involve long, complex chains of casts and method calls. I'd rather tinker with a Z80 or 6502 any day.

With the possible exception of Valentine's Day, April Fools' Day is probably my least-favorite "holiday" of all.

Well, I just bought a $100+ item on eBay. So, if the pattern holds, we can expect another 10%-15% discount code in the next day or two.

That's totally how it goes lol Every time I've bought a $100+ item on eBay over the last year or so they've always given me a 10-15% off coupon a day or two later, which of course is only valid for a 24 hour period during which I have no money to spend because I already blew it all on my previous purchase. =P

Idle question: Why does the Atari 800 Asteroids cartridge say "COMPUTER GAMES" (plural), while the Atari 800 Pac-Man cartridge says "COMPUTER GAME" (singular)? I'm guessing that it's because of the large number of game options in Asteroids compared to Pac-Man.

Or (Now this one I'm proud of for being not..normal) Maybe the person who designed the label has a rare medical condition whereby they don't see the letter "s", Or the Printer of the label had long suspected the Designer of the label had been having an affair with his wife...He wanted simple revenge...

I just introduced one of my students to the Atari 800 game library. We sampled: Archon, Realm of Impossibility, Shadow World, Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man, Miner 2049er, Kaboom!, Castle Crisis, Monster Smash!, and Q*Bert. He's now planning to pick up a 65XE and an AtariMax flash cartridge!

Oh my.
For the unfamiliar, this was RetroVGS/Chameleon after the initial humiliation but before the total fraud.

I've been busy setting up a LAN party for my teenage nephew's birthday this weekend. The family played classic Doom and Nerf Arena Blast (the 1999 Hasbro-era Atari game for the PC) in LAN multiplayer mode, along with the 2016 Doom on PC, the Atari Jaguar, and plenty of other classic games via emulation. Good times!

Quick question for those who play 2600 Miniature Golf: how many and which of the nine holes are you able to complete in a single stroke? So far, I've discovered fairly reliable methods for the first three of four holes.

Classes are finally over for the semester, and I'm feeling burned out. However, I can think of a few classic games, and some classic computing and gaming projects, which should help.

If it was painted pink and walked on its hind legs, it would look kind of like the Demons in the original Doom: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/7873614/cattle-muscle-internet-argument-mutation/

I've been talking lately to anxious college students (mostly in computer science) who are nearing graduation. Some have struck out at their first interviews and are wondering how they'll ever be able to break in to the field. I'm curious to know what advice the people here would give to them.

I had a career for 15 years as a Broadcasting Tech, and when I left to "semi-retire" there was tears and cake, but even in that example, my initial employment with the company was held up for 4 months by a pencil pushing dimwit (Who didn't even last there very long)...I had multiple friends within the company who went to bat for me just to even get on initially, and many friends who would have been good workers were turned away at the gates while the company hired misanthropic num...

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I'm curious: what do you think is an appropriate video game for Thanksgiving? There are Christmas games, and there are Halloween games, but Thanksgiving seems to have been sadly neglected.

Me...I'm Thankful for a day off! Which means I can play Any game I want!!! (I know what you mean, though...Nothing is really Thanksgiving themed)....I'd like to see a game where you play some evil Grinch or Grinch-like character and you start shooting those big balloons in the Thanksgiving Day Parade to ruin it for everyone else hahaa....***Yeah they'd never make such a game because some chucklehead would try it in real life or something***

On this very day, 34 years ago ... one of my Aquarius computers was purchased by its original owner at Kay Bee Toys for $39.95 plus tax: http://www.atariage.com/forums/gallery_ips/gallery/album_2332/gallery_3819_2332_12164.jpeg
