  1. its worth checking zero sensor and RPM if you can using the 1050 diag disk: 1050 Disk Diagnostics.atr
  2. cartridge solutions load games very quickly, SIO devices are a little slower but not much and both are v.user-friendly to use UAV gives great image quality and fitment is straightforward/uncomplicated
  3. disks labeled "double density" are fine. the standard atari drive will not use the full capacity of the disk unless a modification is made (happy, speedy, lazer, USD etc)
  4. i had a similar issue some time ago and it turned out to be a single resistor. check the values in situ at first and it might give a hint. if you havent already, include "130xe" in your searches as the boards are the same
  5. nice feature ? is there a 'how to' guide available? sadly, the youtube channel has no further info about the procedure
  6. the earliest one on atarimania.com is "Hostage Rescue" dated 1980 and it does have similarities to space invaders: http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-hostage-rescue_2507.html gameplay footage here:
  7. just did a quick search by programmer on atarimania.com. here are the results: http://www.atarimania.com/pgelstsoft.awp?system=8&type=G&team=906&step=25
  8. it might be worth looking on youtube for "superglue & baking soda" - the mixture causes a reaction and can be used for a stronger bond and/or to build up lost material
  9. yes my pivot points are also fine, the operation is smooth. its just a degree of warpage on one end of the outermost flat face that lets it down a bit. ive seen translucent filaments on youtube but they are not entirely clear. only to an extent and that's also in relation to the standard opaque types
  10. a user on here called "Mr Robot" has designed several 3D prints including the 810 1050 and XF551 drives in smaller scale, used for the SDriveMAX device. if you speak with him he may assist with the Indus frontage?
  11. mine isnt cracked but one end is slightly out of line when closed...
  12. yeah reverse option basic with fast SIO is a great OS mod, i also use it in my daily driver 800XL ?
  13. correction for XL/XE models: Start and OPTION held down
  14. im not sure it is possible in the same way as other 8bit machines as the Atari doesnt use cassette data in an audio format. although there is a device called SIO2BT that uses a bluetooth device connected to the SIO port. that may operate with your phone in the way you suggested. see here:
  15. load the SALT program Salt 2.04.xex
  16. i think it should be a 7-pin DIN - check the socket
  17. reddy brown screen has implications for MMU, RAM or OS ROM but for it to happen both machines is a bit unlikely to say the least..!
  18. its sorted! it was a track zero issue - even though it passed the official test, i recalibrated it from scratch and now its reading as it should. many thanks to all who assisted! i now know that when using the diag disk, it is best to use the individual test rather than rely on the multi-sequence of tests. panic over, drive is good ?
  19. hmmm, a false positive...? it cant hurt to readjust the zero sensor from scratch. ill give it a go
  20. the drive passes all the tests on the Atari 1050 diagnostic software so im pretty sure everything else is in order
  21. cheers ill give it a go the disks i made were just to test it, created from existing ATRs but i thanks for the concern ?
  22. thanks, although i believe the head alignment disk cannot be copied or recorded. do you know if tuning involves moving the stepper motor or adjustment of components?
