  1. Absolutely. I have both pal and ntsc 800xl machines, and all things equal the jitter on pal is much, much more pronounced. Even more strange, if I use the pal machine with the syscheck2 running the bios off the syscheck device, then the jitter is much better and on par with the ntsc machine. As a result, paddle games are much more enjoyable on the pal machine when using syscheck as an alternate bios selector.
  2. Could this cool device just be attached at the END of the daisy chain perhaps?
  3. Ok, July 29-30 isn't THAT far away now. Do we know if Atariage will be there for sure this year?
  4. I remember one that was "from the spittoon of the Phlegm hacker". Hard to forget that one.
  5. Yes, that did seem to be the behavior. At first the right-side cassette wheel wasn't turning properly (like it was going in spurts) and the games would eventually get a boot error. That's when I decided to clean the head as well. But to be honest, I was also doing a lot of fast forwarding and rewinding at that point too. So it may have just needed this bedding process you are referring to, because that's when the right-side wheel starting spinning consistently and after that every single cassette I have (about a dozen) loaded up without any issue.
  6. Installed the belt kit to fix my 410 today and it is working great. Also had to clean the read head, but now it loads every time. Very cool. Although it makes me appreciate my floppy drives even more again.
  7. Actually, quite a few. What specifically are you interested in ? Do you mean any game with a hacked intro ?
  8. Ran across another good one that I didn't see readily available on other databases. Maze War mazewar.xex Really fun game. Again, I am only posting games that I run across that don't seem to easily be found out on the big databases.
  9. I started going through all my floppies from back in the day. There are a LOT. Over 300 disks, and almost all of them are 2-sided "flippies" with about 4-5 games on each side. I've gone through about half of them so far. I have been pleasantly surprised that all of them have read perfectly so far. No issues. As I have been going through them all and archiving them to my PC as ATR files, I have been doing searches on the games on a few online game data base sites ( atarionline.pl, atari.vjetnam.cz, atarmania.com ) and I have to say that I am pretty impressed at how much is already posted online in tese databases! After going through almost 2000 games i have only run across a handful that don't seem to be readily available on those databases. That's pretty cool to see that so much is so easily accessible. That said, I thought I'd post the few that SEEMED to be a bit more obscure. I am not saying they are necessarily obscure, but at least I didn't see them in those three databases I mentioned about. These include: - Speedbirds - Labyrinth of Kamerra The ATR also has Thrax Liar because initially I wasn't finding it on the databases, but I see that it is there now. Cool game though anyway. I will keep posting more if I run across others that don't seem to be readily available on those big databases. If you have interest in any of the files I am archiving ( i am making ATR's out of them all for my personal archive ) let me know. -Eric Edit: I see now that Labyrinths of Kamerra is also "out there" already. No surprise. Still not seeing Speedbirds anywhere so hopefully that one is "new" to some of you. OBSCURE1.atr
  10. Zork was the gold standard of course. I spent a lot of time playing all the Scott Adams adventures too. Also, I remember Wizard and the Princess, Blade of Blackpool, Ulysses and the Golden Fleece, Mission Asteroid. Ah, good times. For a couple of years I remember thinking in two word verb+noun phrases. Kind of freaky when I think back about it now. MOVE RUG OPEN TRAP GO DOWN ...get eaten by a grue.
  11. Bomber Ramp Rage Jim Slide Star Raiders 2 Rock Ball Toy Swap AtariNet 3plex Chimera+ E-Type
  12. Space Fortress Omega should be in there too. Right?
  13. CONGRATULATIONS TO THEREALBOUNTYBOB!!! WINNER of the Rain of Terror High Score Challenge!! A big thanks to all who participated and kept the competition coming even into the final day! The final outcome stands at: therealbountybob will be receiving the first copy of the physically packaged version of Rain of Terror!! Even though the challenge is over, I'd still love to continue to see more high scores posted.
  14. Here are the new standings at 5:30pm (CST) as we slide into the final hours of the challenge... theRealBountyBob made some huge strides today and takes the lead! I'll accept any submission as valid as long as it is "still November 6th" anywhere in the world.
  15. Wow, nice score! Soooo close to the next bonus mission (mission 12 is a bonus round with a ton of planes = huge scoring potential ) !! theRealBountyBob takes the lead! Happy to see you all enjoying the game.
  16. Oh, and you have to put the file you are trying to patch into the same directory as the batch file before you execute it too of course!
  17. Oh, and you have to put the file you are trying to patch into the same directory as the batch file before you execute it too of course! (sorry, posted on the wrong quote - still sort of applies though!)
  18. try using this same patch approach that works for Rain of Terror (and several other games). Just modify the batch file to use the filename you want to try to patch. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/252742-abbuc-softwarecompetition-2016/?p=3616259 For example, edit the .BAT file below so ROT.XEX is changed to whatever your file it is you are trying to run in MyIDEII Fat32 Loader... And also change the ROT4MY2.XEX to whatever you want to call the output patched version (this will be the file you would then put on your MyIDEII. COPY /b M2PATCHv3-withE.obj + ROT.XEX TEMPROT.XEX COPY /b TEMPROT.XEX + M2PATCHv3-endblock.obj ROT4MY2.xex ERASE TEMPROT.XEX Give it a try, this worked for me on several games that would not load in MyIDE2 FAT32 Loader otherwise. Thanks to ProWizard for the original patch approach, I just stuck it into a batch file to make it easier. -Eric
  19. Necromancer Alley Cat Mr.Do Ixion Screaming wings Bonus: Animal Party I had to weed out (but they would be my next votes): Shamus Fort Apocalypse
  20. FYI - I just posted some pointers for for Rain of Terror on this thread... http://atariage.com/forums/topic/258243-rain-of-terror-high-score-challenge/?p=3625697
  21. ONLY ONE MORE DAY TO GO!!! Challenge ends November 6th, end of day. Updating the standings again as of 11:15PM (CDT) on November 5th... Looks like Deteacher is still commanding a healthy lead going into the home stretch. Here are a few pointers... 1) Clear early missions as quickly/efficiently as possible, by doing so the rate of chute-drops will not ramp up as quickly 2) Bonus missions occur every 4th round so try to exit the prior mission (3,7,11,etc.) with Automatic gun mode 3) Get good at shooting planes, and then shoot as many as possible even when not required (1000 each) 4) When required to shoot fallers, power-up to Automatic and then exploit paratroopers who jump directly over your gun (shoot them all the way down, each hit counts!) 5) Always note right away when a mission requires you to kill landers, in many cases you must first intentionally let some land before there are enough to clear the mission. Good to realize this right away.
  22. Here are the updated standings as of 11pm (CDT) on November 4th... Deteacher has extended his lead !! He's got skills. Only 2 days to go before the high score challenge comes to an end.
  23. wow! I've been stuck around the 40,000 mark. And my fire button thumb is killing me!
  24. That's funny, because it will go towards completely my PAL system we have been discussing !
