  1. Anyone know what would cause a 2600 cart dust cover to not "push back" all the way? I have a copy of Return of MBwhere this is an issue, wont insert fully into the cart port because the dust cover doesnt retract fully. I know the game works because if I press down and keep my hand on the cart, the game starts. Seems like a chip or a component on the board is blocking it. I don't want to open it because the game is oop.

I think there are springs inside the cart that push the dust cover back to the closed position.  Maybe some debris or corrosion is making it so the springs are not compressing appropriately for the cover to push up.

  2. Does replacing old Atari 2600 cartridge labels with new, quality reproductions substantially alter any value they have?  Bear in mind I am not banking on my 250-some carts for my retirement, I just want them to look nice.

Agree with others, from a collector standpoint, if its a rare expensive game, I think sticking on replacement labels could even devalue it compared to leaving the ripped or missing original labels.  On the other hand, if its like a $5 game, then I don't think replacing the label will impact the $5 people will pay for it one way or the other.
