  1. Beware seems like a strong word. The only reason one might avoid them is because they have a lot of boxed Jaguar games already and want the CD cardboard boxes as well so that everything is close to matching, or their hung up on getting everything as complete as possible, which in today's Jaguar market is a recipe to be poor quick. Thinking about it, you might want to make sure the game is on a pressed silver disc as opposed to a cdr. There are plenty of folks who will sell bootlegs and I suppose those could work sometimes, but it would be a ripoff if you buy one for a high price, expecting it to be a real copy from the 90s.
  2. Yeah obviously people recommended it to you bc they are both isometric car games that look superficially similar, but I agree, all the fun stuff I like about 1000 miglia isn't in this game.
  3. I think flip out had a dos port as well
  4. Its funny this topic popped up again about NFS on jaguar, b/c I was recently reading the NFS wiki page for the original game and it indicated that Atari had made a deal for NFS to come to Jaguar CD. "In June 1995, Atari Corporation struck a deal with EA in order to bring several titles from their catalog (including The Need for Speed) to the Atari Jaguar CD. These ports, along with The Need for Speed, went unreleased" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Need_for_Speed The identified sources for that sentence are broken links, seems like it used to link to a scanned copy of a 90s gaming magazine... so the source could be dubious.
  5. On the subject of MK2 and the lynx, this got me the first time around back in the day 🙂. https://atarigamer.com/lynx/game/MortalKombatIIAprilFools/123277073
  6. I figure the different size may be due to the fact that telegames put it out once the jag was dead and had to arrange for the packaging themselves.
  7. There certain games that were system sellers to me, where they enticed me to buy the system before I knew of other games for the system that I wanted. Bought PS1 primarily just to play Battle Arena Toshinden Bought Dreamcast primarily just to play Jet Grind Radio Bought Gamecube primarily just to play Super Monkey Ball
  8. I noticed that there are imagic tshirts, presumably from a contest back in the day, saying "Solar Storm Survivor" on them. Does Solar Storm have an end? Or, like Atlantis, does it just keep going on forever with faster and faster enemies until it becomes impossible for a human to progress? I don't tend to survive very long in this game - like maybe 1-2 minutes, so its a little hard for me to figure out for myself
  9. Yes cardboard box version exists. I believe telegames had it in cardboard box for awhile.
  10. The adapter you linked works with the pro controller. I have it and use it myself. In fact the pro controller doesn't have more buttons than the regular controller. What I mean is that the "new" buttons on the pro controller duplicate some of the existing buttons in the number pad area. So there are no additional unique buttons compared to the regular pad.
  11. Cool! Btw I heard that an unreleased port of Blackthorne for 3do was demoed at this e3 but I've never seen it in any videos.
  12. That would be funny if Best cracked open a new crate he hadn't looked in before and it was full of 1000 jag CD units.
  13. It's ok, I didn't make the connection until the last couple years myself. I'm sure there were a bunch of kids in 1994 who had never heard the jingle either since I don't think it was used in Jaguar commercials and I don't think it was used much in atari commercials of the 90s. And as you pointed out, its not the most obvious recreation of how it sounds in the commercials.
  14. I wish it had in game music. How many levels does it have? Ive only played long enough to get through the first set, and then noticed I had a new set to beat.
  15. This reimagined version by Jeff Minter looks fantastic. In fact, this is basically what Atari should do with their arcade classics - hand them over to Jeff Minter to make them into an amazing spectacle for the new millennium. I'd play an arcade cab of this. The goofy trailer with the low voice is funny and interesting too. I like the presentation like its some top secret mysterious polybius thing.
  16. I put a shortcut on my desktop so I could readily start playing Jag whenever I wanted That made the icon larger.
  17. Jag adapter is plugged into a USB 2.0 port. All default settings in the windows gamepad configuration tool, which looks like this:
  18. I noticed the icon for the emulator is a baby. Anyone know the significance? Rich's baby?
  19. Interesting. I am literally using the same jag adapter with the same type of replica pro controller. I configured it to the key binds inside bigpemu, and have had no issues whatsoever over the last several days of using it.
  20. Um you can get a USB adapter and be using a Jaguar controller with this emulator very easily! I was using the replica pro controllers with the emu today in fact! http://www.2600-daptor.com/Jaguar-daptor.htm
  21. It's been mentioned elsewhere but yes this is apparently the same emulator that was used in Atari 50. I just did a quick 15 minute test of the emulator. Its fantastic. It played almost every rom I threw at it including games like Iron Soldier, Skyhammer and Battlesphere that have issues with some of the other emulators. At the default settings the games ran quite well, didn't really pick up on any noticeable graphics or performance issues in my quick testing. Aside from the retail cartridge library, the emu didn't play a rom of Aircars, but maybe that's a bad rom file I have - it didn't work with other emulators either. It also didn't play a skunk/gamedrive locked ST port that I tested, which isn't a big surprise. In a FAQ section on the website, it looks like the author is interested in adding Jag CD support but is looking for donations of money or the hardware in order to analyze the hardware in person due to the expense of the unit these days. I hope something is able to be worked out because this emulator is fantastic and highly compatible and having Jag CD support would basically enable it to provide close to the full Jag experience. Also as mentioned elsewhere, the author is having some serious life threatening medical issues at the moment. In his youtube video demonstrating the emulator he mentioned his plans to continue updating the emulator but mentioned that he is having a serious operation soon and that if the emulator is not updated beyond the initial release, it means that he died 😬. I wish him the best and hope for good luck for his operation and dealing with his condition overall.
  22. Oh ok, I was watching the video silently because I was at work. Found my way over to his patreon, oh man, what a tragedy. Hope something good can still happen for him in some way. Too young to be dealing with something like this.
