  1. Good deal. I'm glad you got it working, and I'm glad I was mistaken on the TOS issue.
  2. I thought I'd read somewhere that you must be running TOS 1.4 or higher to use a Gotek. I'm not 100% certain that that is actually the case, but I know I've read it somewhere at some point over the years. If someone else knows this to not be true, please pipe in.
  3. No, sorry, but I'm also not certain what this has to do with the FujiNet SIO Network Adapter. You should probably direct this to a more appropriate forum, like the mainAtari 8-Bit Computers forum. Unless I'm missing something this sounds like a more general question.
  4. True, but a shortage of new items makes the value of used ones go up as well. Look at the new car market since so few cars have been making it to dealer's lots. There's a shortage of new cars to buy, so that has everyone hanging onto their older cars for longer, and has negatively impacted the price of maintenance and spare parts and if you go to buy a used car, their prices have gone up as well. The same goes for RAM chips I guess. Of course, I'm not sure there were all that many people making new 4264s, but still. Also, I certainly wouldn't want those MTs at any price, but if you're selling something, there comes a point that it doesn't matter what you're selling or what anyone else feels the item is worth, there is a bottom end price. For me, that price would probably be $10 plus whatever actual shipping charges were, regardless of what the item is or what anyone else felt it was worth. Otherwise, it isn't worth my time to pack something up and take it to the post office or UPS or wherever. So, it's either that, or I send it to the landfill. Personally, I'd have probably trashed a bunch of MT RAM and not even tried to sell it, but obviously I'm not everyone else. It looks like this person's bottom price is £5.
  5. I remember sending off for and receiving one decades ago. Mine was different though. I can't remember what all it had on it but I do remember a demo of Pitstop and Gateway to Apshai being included. I'm thinking there were a few more titles and that it included Jumpman or Jumpman Junior and a couple of their arcade classics but my memory fails me.
  6. I wouldn't mind getting one of these, but the minimum order if five boards. So, with FedEx shipping, right now they average about $36 each. That's not too bad, but I don't want to be out $175 to get one board. If any of you want to go in together, I'd consider doing an order and re-shipping after arrival. If anyone is interested, let me know. If we can get enough in to fill an order, I'll consider it.
  7. I was thinking the exact same thing!
  8. Though maybe not as cheap as changing a couple of old DRAM chips, this is a much better option, long-term, as it replaces several other devices in the memory circuit that prone to failure.
  9. You highlighted the wrong person. I'm not the original poster and I wasn't looking for any games. I think you should have brought this to the attention of @RockLobster.
  10. I always wanted this game on the A8! My buddies with C64s all had it and I was so envious.
  11. It won't do them any good unless they happen to have a cartridge storage device. It wasn't mentioned.
  12. I've done some upgrade work for others but, depending on what you want to do, like others have said, most upgrades are relatively easy. The problem with the NTSC 600XL is that it's modulator output only, no monitor port. It is relatively easy to install a UAV and a monitor port though. Good luck.
  13. I'll have to look into it and see if I can pick one up off of ebay or something. Thanks for the heads up.
  14. I'm not really sure what he meant. I guess I need to look up more about the system. If it's a separate device like the original Xbox Connects, then I don't even have that anyway. I just remember that he said the motion sensor thing didn't work. It's probably not something I'd ever really use anyway, so probably not a big deal for me. Thanks for the info!
  15. So, I'm a longtime AA user, mainly in the A8 & ST forums. I've never been overly big into consoles, especially since my kids all left he nest. I've recently been given a Wii U by a neighbor and want to tinker with it. He stated that everything worked with it the last time he turned it on except for the motion sensor. It wasn't in the original box and had no documentation but it had the base unit and it's PSU, the control pad with screen, it's charging dock and power cable, and a couple of nunchuck controllers. It came with no physical games but he said Mario Cart and another game or two were downloaded onto it. Of course, I'm assuming those are only through their account, so who knows if they'll still work or not, especially if I wipe the system. Let me start off by saying that I'm not a collector for any system and never will be. Collecting holds no interest for me. I'm a user/player/tinkerer. It seems like I've heard that this is a decent little retro/emulation machine though and I do love to tinker. So, what can I do with this thing other than pickup a few physical Wii U games? Where is a good place for me to turn for information and resources for someone who's last foray into the Nintendo world was when the GameCube was new and hot? Thanks.
  16. There has been very little support and only a small handful of titles released for it since it was introduced. Now they've stopped making them and are liquidating stock. What in the world makes you think there will ever be new titles released or more support offered for it?
  17. I really had no interest in a console, especially one that I didn't feel would get much support or last more than a couple of years. However, I certainly would've picked one up for $99 had I been one of the lucky ones to get in on GameStop's liquidation from a few months ago. Alas, that did not happen. $190 is still too much for my passing interest, but if these drop to $100 or less before they're all gone, I'll definitely pick one up. It would make a nice novelty console, as well as an excellent game streaming and emulation box for that price. If it never makes it to my target price, so be it. Good luck to everyone else buying them at any price. I hope you enjoy them.
  18. Taking precautions is never a bad idea. That being said, I've been doing computer/electronics repairs and upgrades for over 35 years and, to be completely honest, I rarely use a static strap and I don't have any sort of grounded work mat, and I've never, ever had the first issue. Of course, I don't have carpet in my work area and I don't scuff my feet on the carpet on the way to work on my electronics or rub balloons on my arms before electronics work. I do make certain to touch some metal before I start working, just to discharge any static that I may have built up. Still, if you have a grounded work mat and a static strap, and working with those makes you feel more safe, by all means you should use them.
  19. Yeah, same here. I got my FujiNet 1.5 and my 48/52K card and SCCC for my 400 from him. Gavin is a class act all the way around and, even though he didn't start up VCC as a business so much as a hobby, he's an excellent businessman. I wish him luck in everything he does and, all things considered, I'd love to see him and VCC come back some day. If not, I certainly hope to see and hear from him around these boards moving forward.
  20. Ahh, that was your post. I was misremembering that Gavin had posted that. Thanks for the information @Tillek. I was also misremembering that it was posted further back than it actually was.
  21. I think it was officially down a week ago, maybe two. He'd announced it on all the regular Atari FB groups at least a couple of months ago, maybe three and I'm pretty sure he announced it here as well, but I can't seem to find the post at the moment. He announced that he was closing down due to personal reasons. It was definitely a sad day for Atari lovers.
  22. Does anyone have any reason to believe that these aren't just DVD compilations of the same scans that everyone can freely download from the atarimania or archive.org websites? They keep using words like obtained and compiled, but say nothing of any actual scanning process which, to me, implies they're just selling some else's work. They do say that they are fully searchable, which I'm not sure that all of the currently available pdf versions are. All that aside, they are relatively cheap at only $6.15 USD including shipping, so it's not like they're making a lot of money. Some may really appreciate the convenience of not having to download them all themselves I guess.
  23. You shouldn't have much trouble as long as you take your time and pay attention to how everything comes apart. There are some good service manuals for the 400/800 that will help with the disassembly process. Just move slowly and carefully. There is no soldering involved though, so that will simply things for you considerably. Now, there's no guarantee that there aren't other issues, but more than likely, swapping out the power board and getting a new SIO port will take care of all of your issues. At the very least, you'll be a step closer. Good luck.
  24. Yeah, myatari, that's the old B&C Computervisions. That's more or less the same item I linked to earlier, just on the UK ebay site. So, now @mutil8 is set, regardless of which side of the pond he or she's on.
  25. Yeah, if you don't want to attempt any soldering or desoldering, then shipping your power board to someone for repair, or purchasing a new one are really about your best and only options.
