  1. I thought there was talk about using the basis of the AVG cart as a super cartridge, adding memory and ARM coprocessing support for <$10 a cart.
  2. Geez, I should have tested it outside of Google Drive! I switched to D3D9 which fixed the issue. Now to go check out 4.10-test2! Thanks!!
  3. I like to keep my Atari stuff in my Google Drive so I can access it from multiple machines. Unfortunately, for some reason Altirra crashes when running on my laptop from Google Drive but it runs without issue on my desktop. I use portable mode so my settings are also synced, so I'm thinking that might be part of the problem. When I run on my laptop, Altirra throws up this dialog box: Although it does write the AltirraCrash.mdmp file. The emulator continues running in the background until I close the box. Any ideas what to check first? I've attached my settings file and the dump file. Google Drive is mounted at M: AltirraCrash.mdmp Altirra-Ultimate.ini
  4. Sounds like it's a good idea then. I have several 8-bit computers around, I'm sure one of them is in bad enough shape to justify pulling a Pokey. ?
  5. I recently got my Asteroids cabinet working, but now I don't like how the high score is lost everytime I turn the cabinet off. My internet searches came across this Asteroids High Score Save Kit, which seems pretty reasonable at $29. Then on the same site I came across the Asteroids Multigame Kit. Has anyone used these kits? I'm leaning toward the Multigame kit...
  6. I'm an idiot now, I saw your Tik Tok of the steps you took, and didn't even put together your voice from the Podcast and the video on Tik Tok. ? This looks amazing!
  7. This sounds like a cool project, 80 columns is what I've always wanted. However, wouldn't hooking a Pi Zero up to the joystick port and writing an XEP80 emulator for the Pi be a more powerful and flexible solution? Full color ANSI graphics for starters. All for <$10.
  8. Along with the discussion of what cards would be used with it, I look across all of the cartridge hardware devices I have strewn about. The Veronica Cart and the AtariMax USB cart are two that would be nice to have as a cards, freeing up the cartridge port. I would also like an IDE+ card, along with 80 columns. There are a ton of devices that would be pretty awesome. The big issue is the size of the 1090 box, that thing looks really tall. ?
  9. The 800XL: It has a PBI There is a chance it is socketed. If not, the motherboard is a lot tougher than the XE versions Capacitors aren't an issue Power supply is easy enough to make with a 2amp USB charger I prefer the 800XL keyboard. ? The video is easy to fix
  10. You write code on a Windows/Linux/macOS machine, and compile for the Atari. Getting the executable over to the Atari is an exercise for the reader. ?
  11. My old high school in Ohio had a lab of them, this was the late 80s/early 90s. I have no idea what model they were, but I saw it on a visit after I graduated. All of them were networked to use the floppy drive (or two?) that was connected to one of them. I was blown away. Alas, I don't know what happened to them. Probably shipped off to the dump. ?
  12. Here's probably the simplest upgrade: You'll need an Svideo cable for your Atari though. And you lose composite video. If you feel like doing more, then next up would be the UAV upgrade: https://thebrewingacademy.com/collections/atari-800-xl-xe-xel-xld/products/tba-ultimate-atari-video-uav-board-for-400-800-xl-xe
  13. That's weird, I'm running atari800 on a Pi A without issue. But, I'm not launching X, so maybe that's the difference.
  14. The Pico is a microcontroller, there is no Raspbian or apt-get. ?
  15. What's your process for this? Save to a disk image and open the image up in Altirra or something else?
  16. I use drives >5 on my Side2/Incognito/IDE+ addons. That way drives 1-4 are always available with whatever else I want to do.
  17. Like others have said, the Sophia 2 will get you DVI output. With my Incognito 800, I've been playing around with a Retrotink Pro. A little pricing, but the HDMI output is outstanding. It almost looks like I'm using an emulator on my LCD.
  18. Donkey Kong may read the joystick differently than Pacman. Start up basic and run this code: 10 ? STICK(0) 20 GOTO 10 Now, move the joystick to the different directions. These are the values you should get for the different directions: 10 14 6 \ | / \ |/ 11--15--7 / |\ / | \ 9 13 5
  19. I wouldn't bother with any of the previous video upgrades, the Ultimate Atari Video (UAV) is superior.
  20. I went to Miami University and student taught at Centerville, does that help? @toddtmw is down there.
  21. A review I saw said they are 1.8v to 5.5v.
  22. I'm about 1.5 hours south of Maumee. And, I don't know, 7 or 8? A school district near me had an 800 lab, and I happened to be at the auction when they were getting rid of them so I got a bunch for a song.
