  1. Collected quite a few recorders over the years. These are my favorite "matching" ones. The small Panasonic is my favorite, The larger Panasonic is my old trusty.

And speaking of cassettes - check these old dogs out. They do not work with the TI-99/4A tho'.

  2. So yesterday I broke out one of my Myarc HFDC controllers. I did the fix with switch to speed up and/or eliminate the wait for the card to look for a hard drive (Thanks Gazoo). Hooked up a 20 meg and a 40 meg drive and started having some fun.

But I noticed as I was fooling around with the freshly installed hardware that those drives on occasion sound a bit pissed that I've brought them out of their 20 year or so slumber. click, clack, whir, wheeze.

So I got to thinking, I wonder if anyone has come up with an MFM hard drive emulator that will replace these aging drives?

And if so, I wonder if they will work with the Myarc Card?

  3. Well, One down, One to go.

I found the documentation for the Rave MX01 Ramdisk. I also remembered that I had an old flatbed scanner so I spent some time scanning and got the job done.

The pdf file contains 4 manuals

    Memory Enhancement

    Rave_OS Software

    Ramdisk Software

    Macro Loader

I forgot how much these ramdisks had going for them. I may have to remove a couple of my Horizons out of one of my systems and Rave On once again.

Once I find the software disks I will upload them as well - I have all the software RAVE released for this device - including the so called enhanced Myarc XBII.

The file is 47mb - It's too big for me to upload here so I guess you'll have to send me your email and I'll send it to you.

  4. Ricky

I have 3 RAVE MX01 ramdisks that I haven't used for at least 20 years. I used them with one of my Geneves like TIm. I have the documentation and disks somewhere in my immense pile of TI stuff. Give me a little time and I'll dig the stuff up. The problem after finding the documentation is getting it scanned but I think I can get that done at work once I find it.

Have patience and we'll get 'er done.

  5. Rave Keyboard interface - love it.

80k GramKracker with 16k switched supercart (hate my homemade label)

box on the left - Joystick adapter for one stick - switch towards console - joy1 - away - joy2

yellow toggle switch behind joybox - switch forward - normal - switch backward - turbo

switches on top left - black pushbutton - reset / red pushbutton - load interupt / white toggle - back - normal operation - forward - hold.

box on back - top rca is audio out - bottom is video (no longer needed)

and of course my slant on f18 installation

motherboard has both video mods - resistor and capacitor (no longer needed of course)

I decided to snap some pix today because I finally installed a switching power supply after 10-20 years of procrastination.

    I love doohickies.

  6. I got my first XB27 when Tony asked for anybody wanting to sell some carts so he could use the cases for repurposing.

I contacted him and asked how many carts it would take to trade for an XB27. We struck a deal, I sent him gutted carts and he sent me an XB27. It has been in my second TI system ever since. I decided after awhile that I wanted a spare XB27 and bought that one outright from him. So I've got 2.

His "BOOT" modification is absolutely awesome. I changed the main file to load BOOT from one of my ramdisks (DSKA.BOOT) and it works beautifully (and fast).

I would have liked to have met him in person and shoot the shit about things TI.

    Definitely miss him.

  7. I don't think you could call this joystick a homebrew (even though I've made them.)

I bought this device about a month after I bought my first TI-99/4A computer from K-MART ($50.00) when TI had the bail out and gave the remaining supply of consoles to certain merchandisers for "dumping".

I bought this thing from an electronics surplus house. Modified it with a 9 pin dsub with atari configuration and added the fire button.

I use it on my main TI system - It sits to the left of my keyboard (I'm left handed) and is comfortable beyond belief.

It contains quality micro switchs and works awesome.

  8. Found this disk in my archive today. Pretty unusual in that it uses both joysticks to run the sub.

Program was written by the same folks that brought us THE MINE. German language throughout.

Maybe someone here could translate to english to make it more understandable and playable for non German speaking folks (like me) The instructions are an XB based in the file SUB-INST. This file had some screwy protection on it that I was able to crack. The cracked XB file is SUB_INST.

You load the game by entering E/A option 3, load both SUBHUNT1 then SUBHUNT2. Program name start.

    Really looks interesting to me...
