  1. Ooh, a fellow smoker. What do you use? I currently have an 18" Weber Smokey Mountain ("bullet"). I know it's heresy, but I've been flirting with getting either a gas or pellet one instead.
  2. The only person telling anyone how to spend money is you.
  3. Six months ago, Atari Gaming was kicked out of Kenya. This is presumably until they work out tax issues with the country. Atari's including them in recent financial reports seems to indicate they are hopeful. Or hiding it from investors. I dunno. They are also expanding to Liberia, Congo and the African island-state Mauritius. From the financial report: +5 subsidiaries since Sept. 2018--and that's without counting Chesnais' Ker Ventures, LLC. No wonder they need 22 employees now!
  4. @Paul Slocum, IGG comment saved for posterity's sake:
  5. Truer words never spoken: American poker card size. Clear and noisy (like above) print-ready CMYK versions attached. I got the template from the first place I googled. Don't know if they'll print them, but if they do pics are required! Atari Please Dont Touch.zip
  6. Somebody gave me a nickle to "buy" my $0.25 ALDI shopping cart. CALLING POLICE.

It's a victimless crime. Like punching somebody in the dark.

  7. Could've sworn I saw a news item a few years ago that a certain version of Windows 10 would be made free for smaller electronics. Not sure if that's true or if AVCS would qualify. [deleted unnecessary Win10 stuff.]
  8. 100% of the proceeds of this $25 bundle go to Australia Fire Relief: https://www.humblebundle.com/games/australia-fire-relief Not familiar with most of the games, though.
  9. Shout-out to @Flojomojo for being a good sport when I implied Flo would have too much integrity to show up at a private Atari schmoozefest. Or higher price. I'm not sure
  10. The scenes of kids playing slot machines bothered me and that was reflected in my post. The machines are illegal according to the video. The article says that gambling on smart phones is where the action is now.
  11. I could be mistaken, but I'm making the assumption it's blown out like a gaming laptop: But, we'd need to see longer, uncut, footage to know if there were any heat issues. They may have brought v1 of the board. I doubt v2. And as @JBerel points out, their use of weasel words brings into doubt if they even brought a working prototype board at all. Atari not answering @Paul Slocums simple request for clarity after three days seems to fortify the position. Well, safe to say that my high from my Atari Interactive HQ trip is gone. If any footbath companies would like a review, a ride in a mid-80s Countach would be great. Or a Bugatti Veyron. Of course, in no way would any indulgences affect my report.
  12. I guess I don't understand your point since hot air can be piped or blown just about any direction. Besides, Atari would never mislead in the first place. Also, what does "moot" mean? Is that some fancy French word for "awesome"?
  13. @Lodmot, as one who has seen a working unit and the transparent-case pictures, I can safely say the AtariVCS' cooler is on the top of the board. It's supported by a fan blower vent. If there's one thing we know Atari is great at, it's blowing hot air.
  14. That's from six months ago, so clearly they hadn't yet read Atari's report from Jan. 8th: If they haven't heard about Atari coming to Africa, they soon will. I mean, it's Atari! Atari is being smart here. Kenya is going through the gambling equivalent of our arcade era. What more appropriate company to exploit a country with a gambling addiction crisis and the 76% of Kenyan millennials who've gambled? Atari, that's what. So if you watch this HBO video and see kids playing arcade-style slot machines, just think how you used to play Arcade games and say, "Remember when?" Invest in Atari, SA stocks now and get in on some of that sweet, sweet Kenyan gambling money.
  15. I think he may be suggesting there's no visible power cord. I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation, because Atari would never mislead.
  16. How dare you suggest that my 180° reversal of opinion after an evening of being treated like a VIP, given a luxury car ride, some cool swag, preview time with a controversial console months before release, and promises of more traffic to my channel be anything but legitimate. I'm shocked, shocked that accusations of impropriety are going on here. Clearly you guys are passive-aggressive haters here only to stir up trouble. I'm not suggesting anyone should be removed from this thread but Also please like, subscribe, share and donate to my Patreon.
  17. They said IndieGoGo backers may not get the retail packaging. I can't really say more, but there's exciting things to come.
  18. They're paying attention to this thread and we've helped improve the Atari VCS! It'll be great for families and a real way to change the world.
  19. I'm just so excited from the trip that I can't help myself. Great things are yet to come!
  20. C'mon guys! There's a huge difference between a thoroughly-tested-and-proven board and one being designed by a company new to the field. Hardware is hard! That's why they're on version 2.0 already (and more to come?). What I saw was great, and spoke well of fantastic things on the way. Atari is amazing and will change the world.
  21. Dan Ackerman played Missile Command on the E3 CNET video (about ~2:58). Just wait and see!
  22. Hey everyone. There's a reason I've not posted much the last couple of days. We were invited to a very special function. Here's my story. Please forgive me for being wordy but I'm coming down off such a high. I'm just plain excited to share this with you: It was a dark and stormy night when I received the email. I'd been searching for new CES 2020 news from Atari; aghast that they'd be so bold as to show up just weeks before release without a stronger presence. And, possibly without actual hardware. The email itself was a surprise, but it shouldn't have been. I'd left clues on AtariAge as to my real name; it wouldn't take long to find an email. Sure, I have a couple of small Jaguar game credits under my belt—but I'm no Tommy Tallarico. It turns out it was from Uberstrategist, inviting me to an Atari Interactive function in New York. I ask you to imagine my surprise: Here I was, just lounging in my skivvies right before bed and I'd just been invited to a party in New York. And more shockingly, it indicated I'd be able to test the Atari VCS itself! After a quick reply asking if I could bring my wife, we were set to go. My wife is part owner of her livelihood and my employers are thankfully flexible, so we were able to take a couple of days off. Though we had to pay for our own transportation it's only about a four hour drive to New York. The last time we were there was my first time and we laughed about how lost I looked in front of my friends as they introduced me to the literally à la carte dim sum in Chinatown. Oh, how wonderful was that char sui bau! Another first in a weekend of firsts, but I digress. We arrived at the hotel that day. The Limousine later picked us up to deliver us to Atari Interactive's spacious Park Avenue address. Upon reaching the correct floor, we were first greeted not by a person—but the wonderful wafting scent of a certain Mexican delight. "Oh, those rascals", I thought. Michael Artz was recognizable from the many events, though seemed slimmer. He graciously welcomed us to the event. "Call me Mike", he uttered as he handed us each a gift bag. The bags were black with the famous Fuji logo in white. Mouse pads, stickers, and a black-on-black baseball cap with speakers. How ironic was it that after all those posts I'd be the owner of not one—but two—Atari SpeakerHats? We wanted to be gracious guests so soon we were adorned with the AtariLife headgear. Scanning the room didn't take long; it wasn't a large party. There were names and faces I recognized. On some, their name tag would read like mine: The real name followed by a username in italics. Upon meeting some there were several times I'd quote a certain song about Piña Coladas: "Oh, it's you." There was a presentation on the AtariVCS as we enjoyed our dinner. It turns out they're farther along than we thought but they didn't want to emphasize the timeline because they value quality. They don't want to be known for making junk but rather for an affordable piece of quality hardware. Mike apologized for Fred Chesnais not showing. "He caught the infamous 'con crud' and will be down for a few days", expressed the Atari COO. That seemed reasonable. Who knows how many hands Fred shook, or how many dirty hands touched that giant AtGames Atari joystick? CES is a petri dish of both technology and common viruses. After the presentation was over the real fun began. We'd each be given time with a functional console; the 8GB RAM version. An m.2 SSD was added to show off the Sandbox mode but otherwise it was the same 800 version that Indiegogo backers would receive. In woodgrain, naturally. Oh, how I wish I could describe for you the experience! As I earlier expressed, they are farther ahead than we knew with the hardware. The software was, as they were always transparent about, not quite as far. But backers were aware they'd be helping the process along. Games--oh, the games--were such a pleasure to play. A delicious melding of the old and new. Even a certain recent game played fantastically on PowerA's paddle-like joystick feature. Needless to say, I left the game room very impressed! The evening began to wind down when once again I had a chance to talk with Mike. I had questions of which I hoped he could answer. One was that I noted there were missing names in this small crowd. "Where is *********? They have almost 30,000 AA-likes to my mere 7300. Surely they'd be a greater influencer than I? Or even ******, who is the hardest of doubters? Why aren't they here in my stead? Why would they miss the opportunity of a lifetime?", I quizzed as I tilted my head. "Oh yeah, them" pondered Mike. "We invited them but they refused. I don't wish to be mean, but some people live off the adrenaline of trolling. Surely you can understand that?" Mike winked. I nodded and smiled, thinking of how much I enjoyed the memes and the chase for information. Adrenaline is indeed addictive. "You got me there", I laughed. The trip back in the limo was short-but-sweet. It, too, was a first. You see, though it was my second New York trip it was my first time inside a Limo in all my years. A perfect ending to a perfect evening. So, I implore you fine folks to trust in Atari. We're looking indeed at weeks, not days. When they say , "No news is good news" it's because they're working tirelessly instead of spending that time online. Also, I don't want to name-shame anyone here, but absolutely be careful of whom you trust. There are indeed frauds. You may find me posting less here, but you can trust me when I say that the "Ataribox" is real. The SpeakerHats are surprisingly good. And boy, do I miss those Atari tacos.
  23. Man, you guys make me want to spend some $$$ on accessories and bust out the ol' N64.
