  1. Personally, i would love to see the early homebrew games covered in the book. It would be cool for people to learn about early Jaguar homebrew authors such as Bastian Schick, Matthias Domin, among others. They are pretty much the OG homebrew guys from the old days as well as Lawrence, who was working on Slam Racer for Atari before becoming one of the more renowed homebrew authors in the Jaguar scene.

Sorry for bumping this thread from years ago but i wanted to know if the Jungle Guides #1 and #2 we're released as PDFs? I would love to have them for research purposes, especially since the #1 issue has a interview with Mario Perdure :)

  3. So, way back in 2014, do you guys recall Piko Interactive unveiled plans to bring the MS-DOS Freeware RPG Mysterious Song to the SNES? Time sure heck flies really fast huh...

Rafael Daniel, main programmer of the SNES conversion, has announced that work on it is now nearly complete and has entered the testing phase before launch.

I remember the first time i came across with this game after watching the excellent Turbo Views review of the TurboGrafx CD homebrew version.

I later learned back then that the team who did the TurboGrafx CD port also has plans to bring the game to Ouya, Xbox 360, and even the Atari Jaguar but neither version was released, which is too bad as the Jaguar needed RPGs like this in it's library back in the day. Oh well...

  4. I didn't noticed that Rich Whitehouse talked about version 1.1. of BigPEmu on Twitter. I read his post and looks like his medical condition has taken a serious toll on his health. It's a miracle that he managed to release v1.1 in the state he is currently.

I really, really wish Rich the best for his health and his family. He really is a great fellow 🙂👍

  5. I played it yesterday and it's a decently fun albeit brief ride. This was made by the same author who did Overcooked on SNES. It initially only available as a cartridge linited to 100 units but now the author has released the game for free on itch.io! :)

Ive created a spreadsheet for all the SNES game scores in the magazines that i have.

I have almost all the SNES era Super Play, NMS, Total!, Gamezone & lots of others like Super Pro, Super Action, Super Gamer etc..

Its a work in progress but the bulk is now included, Hopefully not too many mistakes. The magazines were interpreting Japanese game titles at the time so hopefully ive matched up any variations together.

If you spot anything wrong or have any suggestions - please let me know :D

Sorry for bothering but i noticed that it's not available for download anymore. Is there anyway to re-download it?

    That would make perfect sense.

Teams like Core, D. I. D, good few others talked of evaluating the then future platforms for conversions of PC titles and new I. P's.

Likes of Jaguar, CD32 and 3DO considered.

Where it all went wrong was when the Games Press at the time, took supplied screenshots of titles (often little more than S. G. I Images)  and reported as them in development for them.

People than took the press claims as factual and before long, they became established lost games for them.

Great to have yet another Core Design source come forward to add his insights.

Well, now we know thanks to the work done by XProger that a 3DO version of Tomb Raider was doable but by that point, the 3DO was unfortunately a lost cause with the arrival of Playstation, Saturn and Nintendo 64.

  8. We now have proof thanks to former Tomb Raider programmer Paul Douglas (thanks to XProger for spotting this info nugget!) that both the Jaguar CD and the 3DO were considered as possible platforms for the original Tomb Raider but it seems that the team did not have dev kits for both systems. Somewhat weird, considering that Core Design were making Soulstar, but my theory is that they had access to only one Jaguar dev kit and that one was already being used on Soulstar.

I'm now wondering the same thing. It will be interesting to watch. Xproger is an amazing programmer.  Look at how far and fast he's gotten on the 32X porting that entire engine in pure assembly by hand in his spare time in just a couple weeks.

It will be interesting to see once he digs into the Jag version.

The latest commits in the OpenLara repo were for the GBA and 32X. I follow it fairly closely as I make my own builds for the 32X to better advise on issues on that platform. In making the 32X version, he seemed to refine the fixed point branch and migrate some of that back to other fixed point builds like the GBA. I imagine that making a new port teaches him new things that might possibly help other existing ports. So even if he hasn't gotten back to the Jaguar port yet, he's learning lessons that will help it eventually.

Well, it looks like we have to wait for a Jaguar OpenLara Port by XProger for a little while longer... but his efforts were indeed rewarded with the recent Tomb Raider I-III remasters he worked on along with other fellow Tomb Raider fans working on the project.

Massive congratulations to XProger and the Remaster team for their efforts 👍 :D 👍

  10. Until by some miracle the original BS F-Zero Grand Prix 2 ROM appears somehow, this is the closet thing we'll have to the Game.

But holy hell what an amazing and herculean effort by the team! This is easily up there with the Neo Geo recreatation of The Eye of Typhoon as one of the coolest recreation efforts of a lost game.

I tip My hat to the team with this patch! I already gave it a try the day it came out and it's amazing. It sucks that Nintendo never released the Satellaview tracks as either a SNES cartridge back in the day or in F-Zero 99. I would've played it in a heartbeat but this excelente recreation will suffice for the time being :D

  11. It would have to go with Super Off-Road as the absolute worst game on the Atari Lynx. It sucks that a port of a game that i'm a fan of runs like utter bullcrap. It has to be the worst game on the Lynx in terms of technical performance.
