  1. Thanks for the mention! We've actually produced a total of 7 models of arcade joysticks for the 7800 at this point, but four of them are now retired. The three models currently available are: 1. Super 78: ambidextrous arcade stick featuring a Sanwa joystick with octagonal restrictor plate and concave Suzo-Happ fire buttons. 2. Super Combo: same as above, plus a keypad with custom 3D printed overlay frame to support use with classic ColecoVision and the Phoenix. 3. Super Twin 78: Dual stick controller than is actually two complete Super 78s in one case, specifically created for Robotron 2084. If you get the button orientation as shown, it effectively acts as an ambidextrous controller on all the other games, because you can play using either the right or left control set. All are in large, heavy metal cases that rest easily on your lap or tabletop, so you get the light touch of an arcade control panel rather than having to fight to hold onto a handheld control housing. And you always get your choice of ball top and fire button colors! Also worth mentioning is the Easy 78 I/O board, which makes it a snap to build your own arcade controller. All the Edladdin hardware is available in the AA Store.
  2. This is the answer. The Seagull 78 reroutes the pins to match Genesis controllers to 7800 console, plus adds the resistors that the 7800 is looking for. A native 7800 controller is going to get rerouted into the wrong pins by a Seagull 78.
  3. Happy holidays and good tidings to all of you! Get well soon. ❤️
  4. 1. Phaser Patrol 2. Phoenix 3. Space Invaders I really love the 7800 version of Asteroids.
  5. I chatted with David Crane and Garry Kitchen at CORGS. They said Casey's Gold is definitely coming, but they were not setting any dates for its arrival. They were certainly selling Circus Convoy at a brisk clip while I was there! I bought a copy as well.
  6. Great to see so much love for Big Sexy! I loved my original 4 port that I got when I was a teenager and I love her replacements today. I can still remember clearly the first time I booted Pac-Man, which was my pack-in. I was just blown away by how arcade perfect it looked, only a few years after the disappointment of the 2600 version. Today my usual go-to's are Dreadnaught Factor, Pengo, Popeye, and Space Dungeon. And then more Dreadnaught Factor, because I can get in some long grooves on that game. Also Galaxian with the CX-53 Trak-Ball. So great!
  7. My favorite 7800 homebrews: Armor Attack 2 b*nq Ripoff
  8. I love my Evercade and the 5200, so I would be down with this if all the practical/licensing issues were solved. A few comments about the game list: 1. I have found the maze games to be really hard to play with the D-pad. 2. Could you play Dreadnaught Factor without an analog stick? I guess its possible, since the game was ported to other non-analog systems. 3. Qix seems like an easy add for the Evercade.
  9. That's gorgeous! You've really captured the flavor of the old kiosks ?
  10. I just took a road trip and visited a string of retail retro game shops in Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee, and saw lots of the common loose 7800 games for cheap and a decent sprinkling of both more scarce titles and CIB/NIB.
  11. In no particular order: Armor Attack 2 Asteroids b*NQ Dark Chambers Food Fight Ms Pac-Man Joust Rip-Off Robotron 2084 Xevious Co-op Centipede is a blast.
  12. There’s very little in a light gun. My Coleco Telstar Ranger had one. I’m sure Atari could have pulled it off.
  13. There’s a hack of 5200 Popeye that improves graphics and colors toward arcade quality. Miniature Golf Plus for the 2600 is not actually any better or worse than the original, but the nine holes are amusing and thus a little more fun to play.
  14. PC cables do not have quite as long a throat on the molding, so you can have issues with the plug not reaching deeply enough into the socket on the console. Easiest source for "game style" molded DB15 cords is to purchase Neo Geo extension cords and lop off whatever you don't need. Here's one example, though they are widely available from $10-15 each. https://www.amazon.com/Tomee-Controller-Extension-not-machine-specific/dp/B07L6FC5R3
  15. Failure? Meh. My 5200 was early enough to be a four port but late enough that the pack in was Pac-Man rather than Super Breakout. I loved my 5200! I didn’t have an 8-bit computer so for me this was a huge leap forward over my 2600. The joysticks felt weird out of the box, but pretty quickly I got used to them. They were great on Gyruss and Dreadnaught Factor, and Space Dungeon with the dual-stick chassis provided hours of frenetic fun. I didn’t get a Trak-Ball until 30 years later, but I’m convinced that’s one of the finest home controllers of any era, any console, and provides my favorite version of Galaxian available, including arcade. I think if Atari had put a centering spring in the CX-52 and offered a true arcade joystick as an accessory at a similar price point to the trackball, the 5200 would have an entirely different reputation today.

  17. Should work fine. The only elements that share pins are simple switches. The paddle pots are isolated from the joystick switches. Besides, that Coleco Gemini controller had stick and paddle in one unit, so that’s probably just a splitter under the hood, so to speak.
  18. Todd Frye has said he was told not to use black so it would not look like a space game, but this was hardly an iron clad rule at Atari. There were tons of other non-space Atari games before, concurrent, and after Pac-Man that had black backgrounds. Just off the top of my head: Breakout Night Driver Warlords Berzerk Mario Brothers Centipede Millipede Now that I think of it, I have never heard any other programmers mention this rule.
  19. Welcome aboard! Here’s a site you’ll want to visit when you get your multicart. http://www.atarimania.com/rom_collection_archive_atari_2600_roms.html Two thumbs up for the Harmony cart, btw.
  20. Nice video! This arcade port is definitely fun at parties and when playing against other people. Here's the KLOV entry for the coin-op original, which accommodated six players and a 7th AI horse. https://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9787 A few years ago I saw a modern arcade update called "Final Furlong", where you sat aboard robot horses and had to rock them back and forth to get them to gallop. That was hilarious and exhausting head-to-head fun. https://primetimeamusements.com/product/final-furlong/
  21. I like it too. Not many games like this on the 7800, where you can wander around a more mellow environment.
