  1. No publicly released emulators, anyway. so the old original boards will eventually become completely obsolete when they run out? what does this mean for homebrewers and future homebrewers?
  2. is the best friggin Genesis game ever.

    qix

i don't know all the technical ball missle sprite player1 stuff, but i would say if anything has to be sacrificed, it should be the look of the playfield rather than any of the bells and whistles that make qix... well, qix.

here's an idea for a 2600 qix development: http://vgdb.vectrex.com/vec.pl?vgdbcode=VGDB181 just go with Christopher Tumber's Vectrex-brewed VIX and erase claimed territory.
  5. the 2005 minigame compilation should be first.
  6. my unit does all the fancy speech synth but fails to record data to it. i discovered this while playing Strat-o-gems and confirmed it by trying Fall Down as well as the flawless SaveKey. refer to this thread and start with post #274 at the bottom.http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...8579&st=275 the discussion (and an explanation) continues on page 12. are any of you new owners experiencing the same results? for the record (i'm not sure if it would matter) i have the vader version of the 2600.
  7. for me it was the included Pac-man. shortly after was Pitfall and Frogger.
  8. here is an old list of everything i owned before August 29th, 2005. it's all gone now. not bad for being only 24 at the time, eh?
  9. Holiday Qb is still available too. for a limited time only. hurry now while supplies last. see store personnel for details. all offers void where prohibited. price does not include tax title and liscense.
  10. I hope that's not a common problem. There were some revs of the Atarivox that either had overly-large pullup resistors on the I2C chip or else didn't have any pullup resistors at all, but I thought all current-production units had that fixed. The EEPROM can be accessed without any pullup resistors, but the code to do so must be run rather slowly. Since Strat-O-Gems needs to be able to write to the EEPROM very quickly, it can't afford to run at 1/10 speed. I hope the people who are playing Strat-O-Gems with the Avox aren't being deprived of the wonderful instant replay feature I spent many hours programming. i have no clue what you are talking about in paragraphs 1 and 2. but i have been deprived of instant replay until i used the SaveKey. it really does make the game much better (as well as giving your brain a chance to rest). i found that i have been playing much worse since i found out about the press-up-to-swap feature, so i'm going to stop doing that. it cuts out on my thought time which is really crucial in higher levels. so what am i supposed to do with this AtariVox?
  11. that's an awesome idea. i heart paperboy.
  12. I hope you actually enjoyed playing the game? It was written for the 1K minigame category, so there are only a few levels, and it just loops at the end. Hunchy 2 has a lot more variety and a proper end-of-game screen, though the gameplay is quite different ... Chris oh don't get me wrong, it's VERY enjoyable. just very frustrating on rope screens. i spent more time laughing and saying things like "oh crap, that was close!" than i did wanting to kick something! in other words, job well done! by the way, i wrote a *very* lengthy review for the 2005 Minigame cart. when i went to click the submit button, i was asked for my log-in. i logged in and my review was GONE! that's worse than any rope screen in Hunchy!!
  13. i have yet to see an instant replay, unless i'm just that dumb to not realize it. but to back up my IQ, nothing is being saved as the three attract mode demos are still the same original ones from when i first powered up the cart. i checked my AtariVox and it was firmly plugged in. i'll try to get as high as i did with that last game, going one level past the (+) gems, and see if something happens. if not, then my cart/Atarivox are not handshaking. i also have a SaveKey. i'll try both. that way if something is defective i'll know if it's the Stratogems cart or the AtariVox. last game's score: 027285 with AtariVox. powerd off/on the system. no score. forced a quick death. still zeros. same three combos. i didn't see any instant replays, either. but i got a bunch of Great Plays. i think my highest combo chain in that one was five. up next is the SaveKey... wow, those instant replays ARE pretty sweet. 029050. and the survey says... AtariVox is defective. just tried it with Fall Down to confirm.
  14. i'm not seeing my record saved or being replayed. there sure is an AtariVox plugged into port 2 and the devil was talking to me. i checked the manual and there apparently isn't anything special i need to do except let attract mode run. it keeps cycling through the same three demos that certainly was not played by me. those look like puzzle variations. EDIT: i found the problem. i simply had the difficulty switch on the wrong position the whole time, in anti-save mode. damn!! i just got a score of 2402 in the minigame version (see page 9 in the manual). didn't even get to the eucharist gems. i find that mode harder. oooh! i just read about the swap feature. i wish i had seen that earlier!
  15. controlled value. gamestop / eb games / gametrader stores / ebay they're all whores.
  16. i just found this screenshot... http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?a...st&id=32654 in this thread... http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=67953 i was on the final screen!!! #@%!
  17. i set up a pair diagonally as much as possible. i've learned that side by side or above/below isn't as effective for my thought process personally, mainly because the formations are always three layers deep (unlike other puzzle games with actual rotation of a puzzle piece). i'm at work right now (working hard on browsing these forums) so i can't pull up my score, but check back in tomorrow and i'll have it here for you.
  18. yep, the (+) gems are the ones i'm referring to. i guess i just have a warped imagination. but i'm really not a bad person.
  19. so... i played Lady Bug first because i remember it from my early years playing it on a Coleco at a nursery. i got to the 7th stage or so, where it gets rediculously difficult. i never got around to AStar, Medeival Mayhem, or Toyshop Trouble. i have been playing the crap out of Stratogems (along with the wonderful Satan-on-a-chip device). the AtariVox voice combined with those eucharist-looking gems (in a much later level) made me bust out laughing... i'm going straight to hell.
  20. #67!! Toyshop Trouble neighbor! can i borrow a cup of sugar?
  21. stuck at another rope screen. apparently i don't have these things figured out. can someone give me a hint before i throw my vader out the window? it would appear that i have to do some kind of jump juggling to dodge the yellow and white obstacles. 10:21am ... ARRRGGGHHH!!!!! 11:45pm ... i hate you Hunchy, you S.O.B.
