  1. Jamers, If you really want to modify an old Atari one, here's a quick and dirty diagram. The red lines show where to cut the traces. Chuck
  2. Thanks for the responses! I thought one of you guys would have one. I believe the 815's were double density out of the box, but I've never seen one in the wild. I'd like to see the controller from one of those, it looks like the same drive mechanism as the 810. Chuck
  3. The reason I was wondering is this review from Antic, maybe the upgrade never actually was released. There's more but this is the important part. It just seemed a shame not to be using my 810 because it can't read most of my disks. Chuck
  4. Has anyone ever attempted an 810 double density mod? I know a commercial one was sold years ago called the 810 Turbo, although I haven't found much info on it. Any info on a homebrew method, 810 controller docs, or anything would be appreciated. Chuck
  5. Bill Budge did the Atari version, my wife and I met him and got an autographed copy of the game when it first came out. We were at computer shop in Los Angeles for the release. Really nice guy, he told us all about porting the game between the three systems. Chuck
  6. birdie3, Are you holding down the option key when booting the games that don't work? Some games won't boot unless the onboard basic is disabled. Chuck
  7. I have several translator versions as files on a bootable menu disk. If you can send me the postage cost, a copy is yours. Drop me a PM or email and I'll send you my address. Chuck
  8. You can play Trogdor, Secret Collect, Awesome Cross and a few others on the Homestarruner.com website. Trogdor is actually pretty good. For more background on Trogdor go to the Strongbad's Email section and read Dragon. Chuck
  9. The girls in the red Atari T-shirts were booth babes from E3. Chuck

  11. It came with Dungeon Master for the IBM PC. When the game came out for the PC, mice, sound cards and joystick adapters were still uncommon. Everybody had a 2600 joystick laying around! It was a great idea at the time. I played it on the ST when it was new, and it is still an all time favorite. You guys are right, a mouse is really the only way to play it. Chuck
  12. Scott, Two Yar's Revenge boxes! I never thought of two variations of the same game from the same company. Chuck
  13. Me too, I pretty much had to rely on boxes and manuals that I had. There are 2 more that I should have gotten. I tried looking at boxes on AtariAge but with only dial-up available where I live, it was taking forever. I have a new appreciation for box art now. Chuck
  14. Scott, Your giveaway hint is a giveaway indeed. I can see it plain as day. C'mon guys, we need a third place finisher. Chuck
  15. You can guess the answer? Well... he never said he guessed CORRECTLY. Very true, I just typed something in out of frustration to see what would happen. It was of course wrong. Chuck
  16. I really wanted to find them all, but I guessed my answer to the challenge at 16 positive id's. Chuck
  17. Sorry about that. To 'Blorple the cube' was a reference to the Infocom Enchanter Trilogy. The sequel to the Zork Trilogy. It was sort of a difficult puzzle plus (sort of) a tesseract reference from the game Spellbreaker. We played all of these games together years ago. Yeah we were nerds even back then. From the Encyclopedia Frobozzica - Blorple, Explore an object's mystic connections. Often when cast on a cube it would transform you and the cube to another location. For more info Google "blorple" Chuck
  18. Awesome contest! Glad I did it. My wife helped me with the puzzles, she can blorple a cube like nobody's business. All those years of Infocom games have proved their worth. I'll have to split the prize with her. Don't drop out! After the insane word search puzzle, it is a lot more fun and less complex. Chuck
  19. Somebody beat me to the answer of the box art challenge. I guess I know what I'm doing for awhile, looking at box art. Chuck
  20. MayhemUK, Cool! See you in the Anteroom shortly, mind the bat. Chuck
  21. Keir, Welcome to the Anteroom. Now that you're here let me know how you're doing. I've identified 15 boxes so far and have hit an impasse. It would really help if I knew if these were all North American or Worldwide releases. Chuck
  22. MayhemUK, I was stuck in about the same spot as everyone else when I went back to read the old threads. That helped, but it still took a bit of stumbling around. (and luck) The next one is harder still. I needed to save more boxes. Chuck
  23. Moycon, This hint from Room 34 was very helpful. One of the threads is more helpful than the other, you'll know when you see it. Chuck
  24. Peloton, a densely packed group of riders. I had to look it up. You'll catch up, I've got a bad knee. Chuck
  25. Room 34, Great puzzle, I've wasted all afternoon. The word puzzle was a real challenge, until my wife noticed something that gave me the clue to find the answer. I'm currently at the Atari Box Art Mystery looking at the bat. Are all of the pictures sized to the same scale? I'm off to get my old boxes out of the rubbermaid tubs. Chuck
