  1. Do you like Forrest Gump, remixes, and R&B?

  2. ok, so I'm on mission 50 and I'm starting to wonder the following: Is nearly every mission for the rest of the game going to be a retread of a previous mission? Does anyone know?

  4. here's an actual headline on yahoo news. "Wiz Khalifa cuffed in alleged hoverboard incident" now, I know that he's a rapper and everything, but I think yahoo news is missing the bigger story here. WE HAVE HOVERBOARDS NOW!?!?

  5. Thanks for all the input guys! I tried VICE and I found it a bit disappointing. However, certain parts of it gave me a decent idea of what owning the real thing might be like. So I decided to quit putting it off and ordered a C64 on Ebay. I paid $160 for it. Yes, I know that's a lot, and I could probably have waited a few weeks and gotten one for less.....but I'm lazy..... and the average price for a Tested C64 on ebay right now is $100-ish. The one I ordered is refurbished and was the cleanest one I could find on ebay. It should come with the power supply, and video cables. I'm going to start out with carts first. If I buy a few carts and still want more games, I'll invest in a 1541 or 1541U or SD2IEC, etc. I'll probably order a new power supply for it if a few weeks after I get it. Just to be safe. Can anyone recommend some good/great Cart games for a NTSC Commodore 64?????
  6. Hey there, lately I've been tinkering with the idea of buying a Commodore 64 to add to my sort of collection of consoles. Here are some things I should make clear off the bat: -I don't have any classic computers, the closet thing I have is an Atari 2600 Jr. I know my way around computers to some degree, but I'm not as knowledgable as many of commodore fans seem to be. -I never had one as a kid, so everything I know about it is simply stuff I've gathered from the internet. -I don't have any stores or many resources--except the internet--for acquiring the peripherals/games. -I don't want to spend any more money that I have to to get a working unit and games. Having said all that here is how I would acquire a working C64, all the stuff I'd want, as well as the prices I expect to pay: -I'd want to get one from CL, but I'll probably have to resort to Ebay (so I'm guessing around $80- ish for the unit & power supply, $30-$40 for shipping) -I don't want to go the 1541 route, So i'm probably going to want to buy a SD2IEC to get .D64 files. ($80-ish) ( http://www.thefuturewas8bit.com/shop/commodore.html ) -As a side note, I already have a 16G SD card, so that's already taken care of. -I plan to use the detachable cord and switchbox from my Jr. as a way to since I believe it should be compatible with the C64. Here is what it looks like: and in case you're wondering, yes, I have a compatible tv for this switchbox Now, here's what's holding me back (potential deal-breakers) -I'm not really finding the "$50 commodore 64 tested and in good working order" that I keep reading about and was hoping to acquire. I'm not sure if I'm just not looking in the right channels or if prices have gone up lately. But $80-$100 for a machine that I likely won't be able to just go out and buy game disks for seems pricey. -I'm wondering if the SD2IEC that is being sold on the above ^ website is going to be compatible with a NTSC C64. I really, really don't want to break down and buy a 1541, because I don't really have the space and they're (supposedly) less than reliable. -I've heard/read that finding roms online in NTSC format is a pain and it won't be easy to find the best games/software online for free. -Lastly, I'm wondering if a machine that may end costing me over $200 will be worth the money and effort. Ok guys. Someone talk me into or out of buying a commodore 64. Argue your case. Is it truly a worthy gaming computer that I should invest in, or am I in wayyyy over my head and need to pull back?? Thanks for reading! :)
  7. Anybody here know if I could hook up a Commodore 64's video output with one of these? http://saundby.com/atari7800mod/images/vidadapt1.jpg it works for my 2600 and I think they're the same.....maybe?

My advice to people still using the chat would be watch what you say, and by all means, don't try to have a sense of humor.

In hindsight, the Sake I bought may have been sitting on the store shelf for several months before I bought it.....so it likely wasn't fresh. But the whole experience put me off drinking Sake for at least a few years.

      RIP Family Guy: January 31 1999-September 10 2006.

Died when they brought that stupid part with Stewie yelling for Lois for 30 seconds. Thought it was an isolated incident but then moments like the cool whip joke, a half and episode long chicken fight, and bringing in stock footage of some country singer were some of the alerts that this show was dropping dead.

  21. So I went out and bought project CARS tonight for PS4. I've been hoping for a cool racing sim game on the next-gen consoles for some time and I figured this would hold me over for Gran Turismo 7. So I brought it home, fired it up.... The first thing I noticed is that the default control setup for the ps4 controller has the throttle and brake mapped to L2/R2, in the style of GTA5. My thought at this point was ...............really? I race a few laps and everything seems good otherwise: the engine growls and howls appropriately, the screeching of the tires is a nice accent, and the whooshing of the other cars passing and being passed sounds good. Though there's no music. I'll get to enabling the music later...but for now, time to map the controls the way I want them I thought. I open the controls menu and I come to find out that while you can customize every control this game has, it's easier said than done. There are about 30 different commands that can be mapped out--even cryptic commands like "KERS" (?) but by default it only maps the bare essentials. Which is what you'd want....only when you map a specific command, like say throttle with say.....the x button it disables whatever command was previously mapped to the x button to avoiding creating conflicts. Fair enough, except the game won't let you exit from the control setup screen until you have every 'bare essential' command mapped to a button. Also adding to the confusion is that the commands are in a list as opposed to hovering above an outline/presentation of a ps4 controller. The situation quickly became which command was the x button mapped to? oh, the _____. Well then, I'll simply make the O button do _______ . so I can use the x button to--oh shit. now the command that the O button had previously been mapped to isn't mapped to anything. Better hit "restore to defaults" ok then. now..... I can't leave either blank so I'd better make the thing that O was mapped to mapped to-- ...and so on and so forth. So basically, while in theory you CAN customize it's best to just use the defaults....disappointing. Guess I'll just have to learn the default controls then, oh well. I thought. So I race my first race, which I see as being a sort of intro/prologue to the game because you can't choose any other race tracks. It takes me about 30-40 minute to start to get a grasp on the controls. I've turned off all the driving assists and am using the manual gearbox because I didn't buy this game for an arcade-ish feel. Screw that! I'm starting to get a good feel for the controls and as I expecting the cars all handle differently. I start a new profile in career mode which gives me the option of where--in terms of experience--I want my career to even start. The first two tiers of experience levels are go-carts. I know the game's trying to start me off with baby steps, but I'm a GT vet! I can handle the next tier above the go-kart tiers! I thought. The very next tier to start your career at is formula cars. ....really? they couldn't think of annnnnyyyyyyy space in between a go-kart and a friggin FORMULA CAR to start me at? let's try the formula car..... The very first track on this career path is a quite narrow, simple, but very technical British track. This wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't racing against fifteen other formula cars!!!!! I get my ass handed to me several times.....mostly in the form of body contact sending me spinning off the course. Then one of the times I restart the race and it.....won't start. It won't advance to the race from the "race/retire/restart/exit" screen. Oh, for fuck's sake! I eventually choose to exit the course which somehow works (??) I decide to try my hand at some other races to give myself experience....I'd only been playing for about two hours and figured I was a bit cocky. So I loaded up the Watkins Glen raceway and started there since it's a local track and I wanted to check it out. On attempt number two the game freezes up....for the second time in two hours....and I don't mean it won't advance, I mean it froze faster than Eskimo pussy. I pull up the PS menu and close the game. So now I'm left with a choice--trade this game or give it another chance. Any suggestions?
