  1. So I recently got a few more games for my Jaguar CD. I don’t have a memory cartridge installed, so it’s not a setting. Both Hover Strike Unconquered Worlds and Battlemorph have a weird issue. Both of them have sound effects and music in the menus and cutscenes. However, I soon as I get into the actual game, the sound stops working. No music, no sound effects. I tried pushing the music button on the controller to no avail. I haven’t found anyone else with this issue. Anyone know what this could be?
  2. I am interested in purchasing a loose copy of the United States version of Jack Bros. I don't care about the manual or the box, I just want the cartridge itself. Preferably in good condition (label not too torn).
  3. So I opened it up. The three capacitors near the power circuity don't seem to have leaked anything (I'll likely get someone to replace them or attempt to do them myself). However, there is two globs of hot glue over the bottom screws of the CD drive. Is that normal for 3DOs or did the last owner/repairman do that? That's frustrating.
  4. So last year I purchased a Laseractive Sega PAC. Unfortunately, the capacitors are leaking (it has a fishy smell when played). I found someone who could repair it but held off due to other expenses. Unfortunately, when I asked recently if he could repair it he said that he is backlogged and isn't taking anymore consoles for repair. Does anyone know of anyone in the US who can recap these things? I have searched for months and pretty much everyone who does console repairs either doesn't recap these or is too busy.
  5. So my 3DO worked fine a few months ago. Today I plugged it in, powered it on, and the ready LED kept flashing and there was a clicking sound. The eject button doesn't do anything. There is no signal at all on the screen. I have seen no other posts anywhere about this issue. Does anyone have any idea of what this could be? I should note that this console worked perfectly fine a few months ago when I last used it.
  6. Got mine today! I had one line of vertical pixels missing, so I took it apart to fix it. When I put it back together, the speaker stopped working. I believe one of the leads of the speaker broke off. Through trial and error I believe that I've partially fixed the speaker (it's finicky and only works when it wants to). But the screen works perfectly! Block Buster is a surprisingly fun game. I might look into getting more games for it! I'm happy that I can finally play this thing after owning it for about five or six years. I'm not going to lie, I was extremely skeptical when I saw this project a few years ago. I thought it was too good to be true and that it would never come to fruition. I'm glad I was wrong. It's awesome that we can finally fix these consoles to preserve an important piece of video game history.
  7. So I recently came into possession of an Atari XEGS! I just wanted to know what the deal is with these vertical bars. There is also a slight buzzing noise, but it only isn't really noticeable unless the volume is turned up higher than I normally put it at.
  8. How long did it take to get y'alls screens? I personally ordered one on the 13th and mine still has yet to ship.
  9. I'm currently looking for an Atari XEGS (preferably with the keyboard). I would definitely like all of the cables with it.
  10. I replied in June of 2019 about being interested in one of these. I'm still interested in one.
  11. I cleaned the cartridge port by cutting an old gift card, soaking it in rubbing alcohol, and sticking it in. I also used a paperclip along the edges inside the slot to make sure it the hard to reach spots were clean. I've cleaned it it to the point where I can play every game (except Pole Position II)! Some games require me to push down hard to get them to run (not sure why). I noticed some games don't stick in smoothly, and those are the ones that require me to press down hard.
  12. So I have cleaned the switch (which is now more reliable) and (tried) to clean the pins. It usually takes about 10-20 tries, but I can get every game except for Touchdown to work (still having issues with Pole Position II as well). I also have a lot of trouble playing Activision Atari 2600 games. It seems the tighter the game, the more likely it will work. Any ideas?
  13. So I recently purchased an Atari 7800. However, it has a weird issue where it will play 2600 games fine, but I've been having issues with it playing 7800 games. It plays one-on-one and Hat Trick perfectly (of course it will only play sports games ) . It displays the boot screen (the Atari logo) on Pole Position II but then cuts to a black screen. I have a few other games which just display a black screen or vertical bars. This probably isn't related, but the power button doesn't work 9/10 times I want to use it. I have to keep pressing it to turn it on/off.
  14. This actually worked! I played an audio CD in its entirety (it didn't skip at all when the tracks were played in order) and then played Sewer Shark and got pretty far before the CD started skipping. I turned it off and later found that I could played the last track on the CD with some skipping. After that I popped in a game and it was still pretty unplayable, but a lot better than yesterday). I am not sure how to grease a drive or what type of grease to use. Kind of scared to do it since the model one is a frontloader...
  15. I was playing my Sega CD today for the first time in a while. Sadly, it started skipping about 30 seconds into my game of Sewer Shark. Figuring it was the disc, I got another copy and same result. I then played an audiodisc and noticed it played the first few tracks fine, but the closer I got to the last track, the more it skipped (it wouldn't even play the last track). I opened the drive to find dust in the tray (how does that even happen?). I cleaned the tray and tried the CD again, to no avail. It worked just fine two years ago when I played it. Does this sound like a dirty laser (and if so, would a laser cleaning disc work?), or is this likely something to do with power to the drive?
  16. I'm interested in this. I've had a Microvision with screen rot for four years, and I've been waiting to play it. Any estimation for when the screens will become available?
  17. I ended up just buying a 2 port model. It has an issue though, it can't power off. I will post a new thread when I get it for tips on fixing it. Also, if anyone is interested I will take offers for my 4 port model with the switchbox.
  18. I am thinking I'll just sell all my 5200 stuff. I have been collecting for years and I have never had a system not work like these do. I don't know what the issue is! It could be the box or the units. Does anyone know what it could be?
  19. I have tried multiple carts. I have another system, I may try it with that, but I think it has to do with the switchbox. Also the TV is a newer TV but works with my 2600 and Odyssey fine so it should work with the 5200.
  20. It was on the wrong channel. I changed it and- nothing. I haven't heard the click since I mentioned it last time. I either imagined it or the relay worked until I turned the console off, and then stopped working again. I am so lost. I have no idea what to do at this point. I don't know if it is the console, switchbox, or something else :/
  21. So I plugged it in, inserted Joust, turned the unit on, and nothing. I flicked the switch to standby and what do you know, I heard a click! I switched it back, and click! No picture on the screen though. I turned the unit off and turned it back on, and now I don't hear a click, even when changing it to standby. Now none of my tvs switch to channel 2. Maybe it's on channel 2? Is there a way to switch this?
  22. I did find this http://www.atarihq.com/5200/5200faq/04_14.html. If I can't get it to work I may just build this. Still trying to find the issue though. No click. Maybe I am not testing the fuse right? I am not very good at testing these. I will try plugging the unit back in. Maybe last time I was doing something incorrectly.
  23. Just got my multi-meter and tested every component in the unit. Everything seems to be working. I don't know what the problem could be at this point.
  24. I collect game consoles, but not computers. I am curious, do y'all consider the XE to be a console or a computer? I am not sure if I should get it for this reason.
  25. When I hook it up, I hear a very loud sound coming from the speaker that only stops when I pressed the "clear" button. The TV displays a line at the button of the screen. No matter what buttons I push, nothing really happens. I am wondering if there is a fix for this.
