  1. So yet another example of: If you have a Lynx II, don't wait any longer. Replace the Zener and MOSFET, as they are the core of the power supply. If you don't you may get lucky like Nachoman.. sometimes you won't. No reason to take a chance when the parts are less than $2 total!
  2. Mine worked, I paid with paypal.
  3. Ordered. A little wierd for the US since no place to put city state. I put City in suburb and state in Town.
  4. Yeah, but if your Mikey or Suzy is red hot, then they are most likely damaged.. and there is a possibility that other chips are as well. I have done a MIkey/Suzy transplant with success in the past.
  5. So I've had this happen on a customer's Lynx. What I ended up doing that fixed it was resoldering all of the sound amp IC's.. things just mustve came loose over the years from being dropped.
  6. All, I still have 2 McWill Lynx II screens, and 1 GameGear Mcwill screen available for US purchase. Cost is $105 USD per screen + $6 USD Shipping Christmas is coming up and I need to redirect the cash!
  7. I have some original speakers, and I have some new poly coned 8 ohm speakers that I could solder an original connector on and send your way.
  8. Probably the best way to repair this would be to scrape away the damaged area. Take some copper foil and cut it in the shape of the trace. Attach to the board using a hi temp PCB expoxy, let dry. Run some solder over the new trace to the existing trace to connect. Here's a decent guide: http://www.circuitrework.com/guides/4-7-1.shtml
  9. Hey there, If you want I can try to put together a kit for you that would include: Caps MOSFET Original spec Zener diode I'd absolutely replace the Zener/MOSFET. On the Lynx 1, the power supply caps also seem to start leaking too.. not a bad plan.
  10. Did you ever figure out what was wrong with your modded Lynx? I never heard back from you.
  11. Wierd, I've never had any issues dealing with her.
  12. If you want I can ship you a MOSFET and the 1N5991B. Granted it will be overseas, but still pretty cheap.
  13. This isn't about the power brick, but about the voltage regulator that's on the Lynx itself.
  14. Here's a better album of it showcasing the issues: https://goo.gl/photos/XwGcgPUprWfKPrrA8
  15. Need to raise some $$ for some upcoming expenses, so I have a fully modded Lynx II for sale (in the US). This has all new McWill LCD screen, new capacitors, new MOSFET/zener, new 8 ohm speaker, new flex circuit and silicone button pads. It's also setup for a custom VGA out cable. You'll have to build the cable (I'm out of time). Here's the issue, I'm super busy and out of time, and this Lynx has an issue where after a long period of being off, the first time it boots, things look a little garbled on the screen. If you turn it off and back on again, it then works perfect for hours. I've run it this was for quite some time. I just don't have time to figure out exactly where that issue is, but it really isn't a huge deal. Due to some needs, I'm putting this unit up for $200 USD plus shipping. If you factor in the cost of just parts alone + a stock Lynx this is pretty much selling it all for cost. Here's some photos, note that the lens now does have a minor scratch now that I need to take a pic of: http://s1300.photobucket.com/user/cowdog360/library/Atari%20Lynx%20Repairs/Forsale?sort=3&page=1
  16. Right now all my Lynx screens are spoken for, but I do I have 2 GameGear screens available if anyone neds any.
  17. Although, I actually was thinking about taking a USB-C socket, making a custom PCB that you'd solder into the holes where the brightness knob was, and then just build a custom VGA cable with USB-C end on it. Just use the USB C connector for the pins, but not actually adhering to the USB-C standards since you wouldn't have the circuitry to make a it an actual USB C port. What I'm going to try is buy the USB C male plug, and wire up the A2, A3, A6, A7, B11, and B10 to a VGA plug, so make a little adapter cable: http://www.ebay.com/itm/5set-DIY-24pin-USB-3-1-Type-C-Male-Plug-Connector-SMT-type/252577715613?_trksid=p2141725.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150313114020%26meid%3D54bcd3e8ad93482db21b58e49706c71a%26pid%3D100338%26rk%3D14%26rkt%3D18%26sd%3D111661721449 Then, use a USB-C socket on PCB, hot glue it to the Lynx PCB and wire up the same pins to the McWill LCD: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DIY-24pin-USB-3-1-Type-C-Female-Plug-Socket-Connector-SMT-Type-with-PC-Board-YG-/122073666350?hash=item1c6c28532e:g:oOgAAOSwGXtXhZ3P Should work. You just aren't building anything that's a real USB-C compliant device... so don't go plugging USB-C cords into the Lynx.

  19. You mean something like this? https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipN-U0DA9yuwIm7BhZQofBagApQ66CGIvcA_XGBLgVnMthmz0ANb0VH9AovlsC_hAw/photo/AF1QipOfXt9dUIVoa2dHbmk8kCge0foEjaxBueZ0cp-8?key=YmxVZjVmeEc5OTRfbGpQOWd3di1uOWJUY3dUYkJB
  20. I actually thought of doing another one with a Lynx I shell as well. Same idea, but cutting out the lens more for a larger LCD. Actually, it would almost be better just to fill in the original button area and mount 4 buttons from an SNES controller. Do a little bondo work and paint it all nice.
  21. Well, it will eventually be on nwretrorepair.com once I get time to work on it. I spend most of my free time doing Lynx upgrades and racing my car, so haven't had any time to do web work. I've got a few screens on hand right now, some Lynx II, and a GG screen (no lynx I at the moment)
  22. You have a Lynx problem man... lol I'ts great to see such enthusiastic collectors!
  23. Hey you're doing a great job! These types of things take a lot of work and you've managed to ship quite a bit of your customers a product in a quick time. The Amiga Vampire board project is another one like these, and they are going through the growing pains of demand and not being able to keep up by hand. I think it was a great decision to offload the production from the start for you. And we can't thank you enough for making the Lynx that much better. Heck, the demand has been crazy high to get Lynxes modded lately. Everyone must be ordering a SainT card!
  24. Sorry for not responding guys, I was travelling the last few days. But he does great work too!
  25. Look in my signature or my website http://www.nwretrorepair.com. I provide these services in the US. As does Krip316 if I'm too busy or you prefer him to do it. My supply of screens is going very fast.
