  1. Ok, so I guess it is just bad implantation on ATgames part (trying to use a momentary pushbutton instead of a slide/toggle switch). So back to Bill, any logic behind this, or just cost cutting?
  2. Id say that is a great explanation as to why the TV Mode switch is the way it is. I didn't realize that so many games made use of it.
  3. Hi, I picked up a TS1000 with 9VDC power supply from a rummage. The power supply may not be an original. It is Tip positive is this correct? I get an all black screen , the RF modulator appears to work. I get snow when i unplug or switch channels. Any suggestions? Check regulator, clock crystal, soldering? Looking at some posting there seem to be a lot of these assembled unit that are dead.
  4. I bought mine from BB&B store and yes there is a screen protector on it. It is very hard to detect but it is on there. You really have to pick away at the corners to get it off. It took me about 15 minutes of trying on the corners to finally get it to lift. With it off, screen is brighter, however more prone to static and dust particle. In hindsight , i should have left it on. Maybe Bill Loguidice can provide us some input as to the logic as to why Atgames made the TV mode button a momentary press instead of latching Color or B&W mode. I agree, seems kind of useless.
  5. No VGA or HDMI modification that I aware of but the LongHorn Engineer Board (LHE) sold and installed by ElectronicSentimentalies is great on a 5200. It provides composite and S-video output. I have one and it is great.. The best source for controllers are the rebuilt one by Best Electronic. He also sells the part and free directions if you are up to rebuilding the controllers yourself. He offers core credit of your old controllers too. I also have AtariMax Ultimate SD cart and it is great, plenty of rom files available right here on AtariAge. Serach A8 to 5200 conversions and home brews in the forum and under 5200 section you will find all the retail releases available. Consider getting a Trak ball too. I would look for a two port model also (no power supply auto switch box which can cause some problems)
  6. Thanks for posting that amazon link, I was looking for a longer cable. The FBP video looks good on my LCD. Also can you point me to or post the working Pac-Man 8K V2? Doctor Clu thanks for your favorites collection also. Is Ascend just a graphics demo? thats what it appears like to me.
  7. Great work and much appreciated!
  8. They are great covers, I own a few myself (they make one for the 5200 Trak Ball also). They promptly answer emails and ship items quickly. Highly recommended, Now if only they made a cover for the Odyssey 2 I would be all set (I asked, not enough interest and they do not have one to use as a pattern)
  9. Thanks, but I always format my SD cards using the latest version of SD Formatter. I use a Mac.
  10. So I thought I would try another SD card (actually a micro-SD and adapter) with a 4GB no name card. I loaded The Atari and Homebrew and hacks collection on it. I had the same on my previous SD card. I no longer get the Menu freezing as when running through the menu! I pulled the Pokey out again and can now load most games with out freezing at some percent. The Hacks collection contains a demo version of Bon-Q that plays for me. I noticed that the .90 BIOS files actually is a .BIN file (ends .cdi.bin) and gives me an unrecognized file error when trying to run it. Do I need to do something to the file name? Also, what is the Versa Board? RevEng, thanks for helping out on the Concerto, it has given us thing s to do and try until we hear from Fred. I hope he is coming to grasp with his personal problems and will be back to the Concerto soon.
  11. I was going to try the .90 BIOS, it is a file that ends in .CBI . Does anyone remember the correct way of installing this?
  12. So with my Pokey installed, I have a lot more freezing while going through the menu and a lot more games that just stop at 10-20% of loading. With the Pokey installed I still get all green during the Cart Integrity Test. I tried the Pokey.4000.A78 and after a lot of loading problems the couple times I did get it to completely load, I get a black screen and a steady tone. Is this what it should do? It correctly detects the Pokey @4000. Other Files that correctly detect and work with the pokey include: Pac-man Collection (Pokey) (20150531) Pac-man 320 (Pokey) (20110808) Ms. Pac-man 320 (Pokey) (20110808) Pokey (sample) (20140301) Sound Test (20140808) Super Circus Atari Age (POKEY 4000) [20140113] A warm welcome (20130612) had a hard time loading and when it did played steady tone like Pokey.4000.A78. Anyone else having freezing while going through the menu and loading stopping @ 10-30 percent?
  13. Would like to see Sinistar and S.T.U.N Runner on the 7800
  14. Great idea but lousy drawings, I can't figure out what you are doing. Can you use a pinout table or a standard schematic? Sorry, very hard to follow for me. Start by explaining the adapter cable the DB-9 to DB-15 , then modifying controller with extra button and resistors.
  15. I would get a composite /s-video board in that new two port installed by ElectronicSentimentalities and get the AtariMax Ulitmate SD cartridge. With those two items you will have a great system.
  16. So I threw my Pokey back into the Concerto to try out the above files. The only two games that Concerto correctly identifies with a Pokey @ 4000 are Ball Blazer and Beef Drop Demo, They both play with Pokey sound. Commando does not recognize the Pokey and freezes in various percentages during loading. Without the Pokey it loads fine and plays with only TIA sound. RevEng, The Pokey Test file only gives me a white screen, tried many times. Also your 7800utility does not detect the Pokey. The DKXM (concerto) from the post above plays with no sound. I was not able to get BBCQ to completely load to try out. With the Pokey installed I have many loading problems with games freezing at various percentages. This sounds like a bus loading or timing problem to me. RevEng what do you think and any ideas of what to try next? 78001987, what does your concerto say when loading Commando? Does it detect Pokey? Pokey sound plays on your Commando/Concerto correct?
  17. I agree with 78001987, it would be nice if we had a verified romset with the correct headers. It would be great test with the same standards. I take it everyone is using firmware .91 also? 78001987, you had some problems with your Pokey also. Did it act like mine where it prevented games from loading or something else?
  18. If you try and use a 7800 .bin you get a message that says it will try to load and run it but if it doesn't work try a .A78 file. The files I was trying on it were 7800 .bins and they did not work.
  19. Yes the bottom table of Tapper is off the screen on mine too.
  20. So my Concerto does not like my Pokey or .bin files. With the Pokey installed (I checked for correct orientation and bent pins) game files refused to load. Removing the Pokey lets the games load. Also It does not show up as detected by the 7800utility. Tonight she ran cart integrity all green. My X runs Moon Cresta just fine, the only thing it will not run is Bon-Q. I have tried to run a couple .bin files but either blank screen or odd graphics after loading. Anyone have any luck with .bin files?
  21. If you want to keep your copies of Ball Blazer in tact..there are Pokey sellers on Ebay. Got mine for $14 shipped free. Am I the only one that enjoys this Game?
