  1. I don't mean to sound rude, but an "Atari fan" asking why they should purchase a Jag is like a StarWars fan asking why they should buy Episode III. Weather or not it's any good is beside the point. It's an Atari product of significance and that's really all that matters. At least to a true Atari aficionado. If you’d rather get a 3DO then get a 3DO. Or a CD-i. Or some other non-Atari related piece of crap.
  2. I own a Generation NEX and I love it. I also own an AV Famicom which is nearly identical to the top loader here in the US except it has AV output and its crystal clear. Although that's not really a clone :-)
  3. Wow Agent X, you really got what I was trying to say. A new Lynx Mark III would either have to be much like the PSP or the Micro. Although he did do a very nice job with his artwork : )
  4. In my opinion some of the best artwork was done by a gentleman in the art dept. named Hiro. I forget his last name but I know it was Japanese. He was one of the few artists to get credit for his work. If you look at games like E.T., Centipede and Dig Dug you wil see small caps text "HIRO" in the pictures. Pretty interesting. And like those games or not, the artwork was great. Classic Atari.
  5. Bruce & Cathy are good people and run a good business. I would never put them down. However my experience has always been with Lance at Video 61. Ive been purchasing from him since the 1980's and he's always gone way out of his way to make sure I was well taken care of, even if that meant throwing in a few freebies to close the deal. You may want to call both places and see what their best deals are on the Lynx. Both are reputable dealers that have been around for decades, both purchased through the same channels, and both are long-time friends. It all comes down to your personal preference and who can offer you the sweetest deal. Good luck!
  6. Im pretty sure FB3 is about as dead as the rest of Atari at this point.
  7. Hey everyone. I'm trying to hunt down a SEGA Time Traveler Hologram machine in superb condition. If anybody has one that they are willing to sell or knows of one I would really appreciate a PM. This was such a unique machine. Thanks! Justin
  8. The sit-down version of RoadBlasters. Took me two years to find one.
  9. Honestly I'm pretty satisfied with the fact that they ranked it higher than the NES. On the other hand, they are a bunch of know-nothings at VH1, what the crap do they know? They are the same one's that put a bunch of 17 year-olds on "I Love 1982" as if they were even born at the time. I enjoy retro stuff but I don't give much creedence to what VH1 has to say nor do I really care much about the opinions of those on the programs.
  10. Lance Ringquist carrys them at Video 61 brand new in the box. www.atarisales.com or call 651.462.2500 and he will speak with you personally.
  11. Pac-Man. For two reasons. 1.) It's just unplayable. At least in E.T. you don't have nearly as much flickering and there's more "adventure" in my opinion. 2.) E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial was just a movie, and this was in an era when game companies and game players were were just starting to see that theatrical franchises could become great video games. However it was not a necessity. When people thought "E.T." they thought "Spielberg" not "Atari" ....however Pac-Man was a video game icon, and people were looking to play Pac-Man and expected a decent port from the game companies. Shame on Atari for screwing up both projects.

Curt - you're talking about the development system, correct? I saw the engineering drafts on Karl's AEX site but never thought they had molded any units. I'd still love to see the cartridge design for that thing... looks like it would have been quite interesting. Justin
  13. I've been playing mine for about two or three weeks now. Although there are no astounging graphics i.e. Q*Bert, I'm finding it to be a rather addictive game, especially in two-player mode. I think Harry put a lot of thought into game theory and playfields when developing Combat 1990. I'd give it a fun factor of 9.
  14. That's not a bad idea. The whole modular aspect of the early Regan Cheng XL designs would have really played well with a modular 7800 system, beyond just a keyboard add-on. Sort of reminds me what Nintendo was planning in 1985 for the Nintendo AVS System. Check it out -
  15. Ohhhh nooo here we go on the whole Knight RIder thing again. Christmas is always a good time to dig up some fond memories of "Hard Work" and "The Savage Team"
  16. Willing to make a serious offer for a reasonably priced Turbo Duo system in mint to near-mint condition. Please contact me if interested in selling. Thanks! Justin
  17. IMHO the Dreamcast is the ultimate broken promise of the current generation (128-Bit). Such a beautiful system with so much promise. Sega actually managed to put out a Keyboard for the system during its short little lifespan, something that seems to be a common promise of many other systems in previous generations yet rarely gets delivered on. Dreamcast was wonderful. It's a shame she left us so soon.
  18. I think everybody is forgetting the Turbo Express. It was by far the most powerful and gorgeous handheld of its day. With the right games, it still holds up very well today and you can find brand new units on line.
  19. Ebay is not retail and does not reflect retail market prices.
  20. Awesome stuff Cousin Vinnie. Your site is my favorite 7800-exclusive website on the net. Enjoyed the updates! : )
  21. Wow. There really is no pleasing you people. I hope you realize that you sound like a bunch of spoiled brats bitching to your moms about how your ice cream cone isn’t the right flavor of vanilla. Generation NEX is a great little system for what it is. $60 isn’t much at all when you compare it to what you get. Yeah you cant play CVIII on it, but so what. Break out the toaster when you want to play those titles. For everyday game play, the NEX works just fine. I for one don't want some dankass old toaster that's been sitting in some musky basement for 20 years sitting on top of my TV when I can have something new that takes the original design to new heights. It's not perfect, but it will do. Criticize legitimately if you must, but the whining though has to go.
  22. THANKS GUYS ! ! ! ! Keep an eye out for major updates coming in 2006 to both www.Atari7800.com and www.TurboGrafx-16.com Cheers!
  23. Just out of curiousity, what provoked the question?
