1. It loads fine, and what I can see of the screen on the games I've tried (T2K, Doom, Attack of the Mutant Penguins) looks great and moves at 60 hz. But that's the problem. It only allows me to see a small corner of the full display, even in fullscreen mode. Is there a way to fix this?
2. Which games could be legally included? Would Atari or Activision be willing to cut a licensing deal since both of them have done their own similar products that compete with this? Put games on there from defunct 3rd parties (Data Age, Apollo, etc...) and you risk having whoever technically owns the rights coming out of the woodwork to sue. It seems to me the easiest way to get titles onto these sorts of things is to deal with homebrewers or just commission new titles from scratch. Then you don't have to deal with so much legal BS. 919284 Well, there is another option: cutting a licensing deal with a company that hasn't done a similar product. Imagic? CBS Electronics? Sega? Epyx? 919290 Maybe the Quaker Oats people would be interested in licensing the USGames/Vidtec titles? Spectravideo and Technovision wouldn't be bad choices, either.
3. Hasn't "Six Funny Doll" been used as a pirate name for the original Football in the past? "leevator"?. . . While I'm sure it's most likely Keystone Kapers, it'd be interesting if it were actually the only commercial release of Elevator Action. Would this be the same system that has already been dumped? I doubt it because Game 1 of Bank 1 on "128-1 Junior Console (Chip 1) (PAL)" is Venture, not Enduro. There have been a couple of these on eBay in the past few years, I believe they were all from Australia. Those auctions had pics. The system looks just like a normal Jr., only with the extra switches. And Dragon Defender is not a hack of Defender, but rather a different, but kinda similar PAL-only game. I think Thomas converted it to NTSC, so it should be on the sight.
4. At the very least, the documentation would be very interesting to have, even if none of us would ever be able to get our hands on one. I wonder if there's a possible connection between this VSS and Vanguard Software Solutions (http://www.vsofts.com/), which was founded in 1981 and designed MySpace, among other things . . .
5. The general definition would be a game produced by an independent programmer with no direct ties or support from a publisher. Othello, Basic Programming, and Solaris wouldn't really qualify under that one as the programmers had official Atari resources at their disposal, even if the games themselves were made on the side. Skeet Shoot and Space Jockey, OTOH, probably would be considered homebrews under this definition.
6. yep he was on expert, does this mean he holds the world record? cause he maxed it out 2 time and then some.. ~jon 919521 Get a VCR or camcorder and record this if he can pull it off again. http://www.twingalaxies.com/index.aspx?c=70 <-- TG's recording/submission guidelines.
7. Wait, Fonz is basically Enduro with motorcycles? Sounds just like the PAL pirate game Motocross to me. . . Which isn't actually an Enduro hack. It's a pure top-down game that plays like the old Tomy mechanical motocross game, only with different kinds of obstacles and flags to collect. The ROM's not on AA, but it's pretty widely available elsewhere. Maybe someone can Fonzify it.
8. 1,678,000. http://www.twingalaxies.com/index.aspx?c=2...gi=2620&vi=2169 Was he playing with the difficulty on expert? If so, yeah, I'd say he's damn good.
9. I really don't know. I personally think they should include a cart port! I guess the reason is it will cost more to include the connector (even if it was $1 which I don't think it is), it will give a reason to retailers to not accept the product for distribution (since carts are not available) and what we already know about customer support. Let's keep in mind that being a consumer electronics product, or a toy, it should be designed to meet a certain target price, not to have a feature that most consumers won't use (unless those features were added for hobby by the design engineers and don't add to the cost of manufacturing, like easter eggs). 918821 How much are cart connectors? I know some people here have built them, so maybe they'll chime in with a quote. If the cost would be prohibitive, yeah, it would be best to leave it as a mod. And carts aren't available? The last time I checked, this site had a wide range of titles. Not to mention, most people who would use the port would already own games on cart. Any built-in games (will there be any? And if so, what?) will be new ones that wouldn't catch the eye of the casual nostalgia buff. Most people who would buy it already know where to find both ROMs and carts.
10. Really fun game, another awesome piece of work from you . . . Nothing like the feeling you get when you see that plane or car go boom when you manage to shoot it. And it looks great in B/W, which is strangely rare for 2600 games. Even Atari's official titles never really optimized for it. One thing that might make the AI act more like a human would . . . Is it possible to have it count the shots the player has left and save its remaining shots for when the player is loading? That's one of the best strategies: Unload the first 10 shots continously along with it, reload, and concentrate on keeping it away from cars/planes until it blows its load, then start blasting away at it. Not only would the AI not be a sitting duck so much of the time, it wouldn't get so many cheap hits in on the cars/planes (which it doesn't even try to aim at, correct?).
11. Is there a High (er, Low) Score Contest? Because I just won without moving at all . . . Twice. IMO, you probably want to avoid that situation, because it doesn't make for much fun. Is there a way to make sure that the player isn't placed immediately adjacent to the Wumpus at the beginning?
12. It would be nicer if it had a cart port, indeed. Carlos seems to be implying that it's designed so it can be easily hacked for one, so why don't they just put one in now? It'll be a great dev tool anyway. Testing homebrews and hacks on hardware will be possible for those of us who don't have a CC, KC, or Supercharger.
13. Been playing it almost non-stop for a few days. Great, great game, and much easier once I figured out that the shots worked Gorf-style and you can't just constantly jab the button. It's definitely a lot like Solar Fox, and a little like Targ/Universal Chaos and Thunderground. My only quibble is that it doesn't mix up the locations of the white blocks enough, it seems that if the corners are filled in that the block will always appear in one of them. If you keep the outside open, you can pretty much just coast after getting the first one.
14. The game has English and ball control, it's just hard to pull off because the paddles are so darn big. Reminds me of Off The Wall (the Bally/Sente arcade version, not the 2600 game of the same name). I like it.
15. The GBA ET game is awful . . . Maybe others feel differently, but I thought it was ugly, the controls were crap, and all the cheap hits make it hard to even get past the first stage. Not only is the 2600 ET far from being the worst game on the system, it's not even the worst game using the license anymore. Never understood how someone can dislike ET and turn around and like Raiders of the Lost Ark, which is confusing as hell even with the manual and has that clunky 2-stick control scheme.
16. I always thought that was just a not-quite-right trademark symbol . . .
17. So it's like the last variation on Casino/Poker Plus, then . . . Always liked that game.
18. Mindmaster is 16K. 4 loads, 4K per load.

No. Although I have a replica Pissing Boy statue. I'm fairly certain the original source of the word was onomatopoeic, just as "tinkle" is. Only with the ground as the point of contact as opposed to modern porcelain.
20. Footbag definitely maxes out at 50K, and that's extremely easy to do. Just keep it on your head. Never maxed the others, though. I'm so not good at surfing. And the BMX portion >>>> BMX Airmaster.
21. The TG-16, no. The SMS, yes. The cards were a holdover from the earlier SG-3000, which could best be described as a CV with more colors and better scrolling. I think all the SMS card games first appeared on it. The even earlier SG-1000 pretty much is the CV. I'd love to see Eduardo port some of those over, like Ghost House or the SG-1000 version of Galaga (which could be improved with 2-color sprites and the bonus stage to boot)
22. Didn't a Japanese company make a MSX on a chip? I thought I saw something about that here once? If so, there is no excuse for not using the real MSX/CV hardware . . . So, what will these new Coleco systems be, then? A plug&play Telstar Colortron?
23. Charles, if you're gonna do a hoax, you don't exactly tell everyone beforehand. . . And BeepBopBoop wouldn't go for it?
24. Say, while you're in 1992, could you pick up a bunch of those 99-cent red label 2600 games for me?
