  1. Sega may be evil but I will still love my Dreamcast. Playstation better? Nah.
  2. That was so flamingly gay that my monitor exploded. Liberace was more hetero than those two.
  3. The Dreamcast is a great system but there are bad GAMES in any system. I love the DC but I am not blind to the dogs in the pack. Spirit of Speed anyone? Like the dreamcast, there were many ambitious games that fell short of expectation.
  4. This is not a worst DC game thread but a game that had great promise only to be dashed by shoddy performance. I loved the idea of Expendable which would have been the next generation twitch game in the line of Smash TV, Robotron and Total Carnage but was done in by the most maddening lack of precise control ever. These types of games require absolute control for them to be any good and you can't constantly have to think about it. Expendable was the complete opposite. And it was a shame because the graphics, varied weapons and enemies and over the top violence would have made Expendable a real kick ass game.
  5. I haven't posted in a while but I felt compelled. After reading about the absolute stupidity of people camping and the mindless violence over a friggin $600 game system I feel as an old fart playing Red Dog on my Dreamcast that my fatih in my fellow man has been shaken once again. I felt like it was Deja vu all over again with the launch of the PS2, XBOX. XBOX 360, ad nauseum. There is absolutely no reason to waste one's life over another gaming system that doesn't have enough quality launch games to justify this mindless B.S. I'm so sick of having to listen to this. Gamers have too many games on the existing systems to play let alone the retro stuff. Why the friggin rush to get this console when you already know there is no reason without the games? There is only one game out there that is worth buying for the PS3. Why are people willing to fork over 10X the retail price? I guess I'm missing something somewhere. Then again I was too busy playing Crazy Taxi, Virtua Tennis, and the 60+ games that I bought for the Dreamcast combined for less than one PS3 console as well as working, socializing, having sex with my wife 3+ times a week and the hundreds of other stuff that seem to be more worthwhile than sitting in the cold with dozens of sociopaths and genetic mistakes that I guess I'm out of the loop. Flame away.
  6. I am a Dreamcast fanboy but for your specific needs I would give him a GBA SP or Gamecube. The GBA has practically all the major Sonic titles as well as almost every Pokemon game going back to the original red and yellow for the original Game Boy. It is cheap, elegant and portable. The Cube for the Console is good. The Dreamcast does have emulation and the two Sonic games are phenomenal but you can get the similar titles on the Cube.
  7. I have snesdream on my dreamcast and I have no desire to collect SNES games so to me emulation works just fine. I really don't want to blow money and waste space on another console. The gameplay is always the thing and it does not matter where I have it.

  9. How about getting Bleam and Gran Turismo 2 for the old PS? It improves the graphichs of the original and its a classic.
  10. Wow, speak of the devil. I just finished Fusion and I am currently playing Zero Mission on my Pearl SP. The Spider is a real pain in the ass and what you are experiencing is exactly how I felt. I even consulted gamefaqs which didn't help either. I found staying in a ball in the left hand side does the trick. Wait till it opens its mouth and fire a missle into it then go revert to the ball and stay left. For some reason the spider nabs you sometimes when you are in a ball in the right corner. Once it loses its arms you are in better shape. The spider is one tough mofu but there are ones that are even worse. And I only got 60% of all the extras. And then there is the famous hidden room which I never got. A tough, humbling game and up there with Astro Boy as the most challenging game on the GBA.
  11. I can't say what is the best, but from my experience, I love the wierd techno stuff from Rez which is part of the gameplay as well as Amplitude. Classic games like Loom and NiGhts also make muusic integral to the gameplay.
  12. An autographed picture of Tommy Tallarico from PhillyClassic.
  13. I agree that the best time for collecting was two or threes ago. I loved those EBGames and Gamestop sales that had buy two get one free and 30% off at the same time. Collecting for the system was incredibly inexpensive this way as I got the systems for $15 apiece and games on average for $6. Now, the availabilty has naturally gotten tougher. There are still some EB stores that sell games and consoles in varying conditions and I see them at Gamecrazy and the insanely common ones (read sports games) at Best Buy, Circuit City, Toys R Us for good prices but now the common way to ramp up a collection quiclky is through Ebay. I suggest looking at the above stores and inquire about availability. Collect games that you like first as the beauty of collecting for the Dreamcast is that most of the favorites could be had for dirt cheap. If you still like collecting for the DC, then go for the rarer ones. Remember, you should like the games for the system you are collecting for or else you won't get any enjoyment for it and your system would collect dust and space on a shelf.
  14. Great system hampered by a small library skewed towards fighters and golf games. The two Metal Slugs, Card Fighters, Sonic are fantastic games but the fighters like SNK v. Capcam Match of the Milllenium and King of Fighters absolutely rock especially due to the thumbstick. I also like Falselei! but it has limited replay value. The 40 hour bright colored but not back lit screen is just awsome. It was superior and one magazine said it wa the greatest failed system of all time but it never stood a chance against the GBA.
  15. I don't know what the criteria is of an underapprciated gem. Is it a game without the buzz that is excellent? A game with negative reviews that turns out to be good? Katamary Damacy and Beyond Goood and Evil are definitely not underappreciated. Heck, Katamari has won so many awards. Typing of the Dead by the Dreamcast is definitely underappreciated. A real weird game in a long line of weird games for the system. Another is the GBA game Ninja Five-O which I cannot find anywhere but it is an excellent old-school game.
