  1. Ok. I was hoping that if I had the hum the amp was still working.
  2. So the amp can cause the hum and still possibly be bad?
  3. Hi everyone. I have a Vectrex that I am trying to bring back from the dead. I am getting close with the picture and balancing the pots and yoke, but I still have no audio. The hum is back, but just none of the sound. I have disconnected and reconnected the cable connecting the two boards and cleaned and reset the sound ic. Any ideas on what to look at next? Thanks!
  4. Thanks! yeah, I found it on the first thread, and it looks like it actually a CX-10, just with a non Atari board? Either way, that definitely helps a lot!
  5. Hi everyone. I have this joystick that I assume is from pretty early in the VCS's lifespan. it does not say top, has the five large springs that touch the plastic piece just like the CX-10, but the board looks like a CX-40 with the more standard dome switches. The board says "Santa 88. There is also the ring at the base of the joystick handle (on the outside). What is this thing? Thanks! Mike
  6. Hi everyone. I just purchased a Heavy Sixer with a chess box, and I was wondering what the contents were originally that came with it. I received one large cardboard insert and nothing more. Does anyone have a picture of what else might have come with a heavy sixer? Thank you
  7. You can buy the switch on console5.com. Just search Atari 7800 and the button switch is a white square with a black circle in the middle.
  8. If you have some desoldering wick/ braid it shouldn't be too hard to get the old switch off. Just be sure you don't leave the iron on the point you are desoldering too long so you don't damage the board. I have had about seven or eight 7800s (at least) that wouldn't power on and the new switch fixed them all. Obviously there could be other problems causing the console to not power on (including a bad power adapter), but usually it is the switch.
  9. Did you get any sound when you turned it on? Frogger is a good test cart as there is immediate music when the 2600 is turned on.
  10. I am looking for other cartridges too, but mostly with the XEGS label. Thanks again!
  11. Hi everyone! I just recently picked up an Atari XEGS computer, and I am trying to find cartridge games with the blue XEGS labels. I have the two pack-in games which are plentiful, but I am trying to find some others. Thanks! Mike
  12. It was the power adapter. I tested it with my own power adapter and the image was normal. Thanks again!
  13. Hi. I haven't had a chance to get to it for awhile. Sorry...
  14. I actually replaced the power switch already.

  16. Hi everyone. I have a ColecoVision that, while for the most part has a great video output, there is some weird image "distortion" on some games. With Frenzy there is extra sprites around the lazer bolt when you fire your weapon. Same with Zaxxon. Any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks!

  18. Okay, I will reset the TIA and see if it does the trick. Thanks!
  19. Hi everyone. I have an Atari 7800 that plays 7800 games perfectly, but the 2600 games will run for about 7 or 8 minutes then stop. Anyone see this before? Thanks!
  20. Okay. Will do. I have used the meter before, but the dial was turned and I turned it to what I thought the correct setting is (20 dcv). I actually tested the 7800 with a brand new Atari Guide 7800 adapter and the older adapter and got 10.1v off of both when it was off. I will look for the atariage guide and try to find the issue. Thanks a lot!
  21. I have looked at videoes on how to use the multimeter, but have yet to fine any that don't skip over the very basics of how to use it. I have fixed about ten 7800's in the past without one, but I know that it would be invaluable to be able to use it. The power adapter that I use has worked perfectly for almost two years without causing any sort of smoke to occur. I'm actually using it now and everything is working perfectly on a different 7800.
