  1. Thanks. I checked continuity on both lines with a multimeter, and both are okay. I also checked between the button traces/contact areas on the PCB and the wires/pins, and they check out okay as well. So... I'm guessing the buttons just aren't making good enough contact with the traces to complete the circuit? Not sure all my terminology is right here, but I hope I've explained well enough.
  2. I opened up my CX-80 trak-ball to try to figure out why the fire buttons weren't working, but there was no immediately obvious problem. The contacts all looked fine; I cleaned them anyway. There were no obviously unattached, loose, or frayed wires. Can someone suggest additional ways to troubleshoot? There exists a Field Service Manual for the CX80 (FD100750 REV. 01 February 1984) but I've been unable to track a copy down. The ball itself works well enough and the thing is in pretty nice condition otherwise, so I don't want to give up on it yet. Thanks for any help!
  3. I'm looking to trade for or purchase two loose Sears picture label carts: Canyon Bomber Gunslinger I have the following loose Sears pic labels to trade, a few are uncommon: Adventure Asteroids Breakaway IV Chase Defender Haunted House Math Gran Prix Missile Command Outer Space Poker Plus Pong Sports Speedway II Warlords If you're not looking for Sears picture labels but would still like to propose a trade, I have many other 2600 games available -- send me a want-list! Alternatively if you just want to make a straight sale, either float me a price or I can send an offer. Thanks!

  5. Some good news for non-USA folks: Art of Atari looks like it'll have an international distribution!
  6. Amiro (France) was an arcade game distributor, and became an official Atari coin-op distributor starting in October 1980. Don't know about the item itself (pendant?) but probably it was some sort of promotional thing? Anyway, looks pretty cool! It sorta looks like a soccer/football ball -- I wonder if it's related to the Atari Soccer (1979) coin-op. No idea -- just thinking out loud, here.
  7. Dang. I uploaded my video to YouTube back on 6/26 and was sure I posted it here, but I guess I never hit post. My (late) score: 111,330
  8. Best Electronics reports that even new old stock (i.e. new in box) 5200 joysticks have a high failure rate. I'd guess something in the flex circuit degrades over time -- even with non-use -- but it's just a guess.
  9. Yep, you've got it. Nothing to help self-center other than the rubber boot. Hope you're otherwise enjoying the SuperSystem so far!
  10. (Hopefully I'm not stepping on Tim's toes by posting this!) Per Bleeding Cool News, there will be a "deluxe" edition of Art of Atari featuring a unique leather-bound hardcover book made to look like an Atari 2600 cartridge, a slipcase made to look like a 2600 game box, a Steam key to download Atari Vault, and a limited edition print of artwork from Cliff Spohn, one of Atari's original artists. Looks pretty sweet...
  11. Thanks -- too bad I couldn't make up any ground on your HSC lead! Even with a mastery of jumping and climbing it gets to be legit difficult to find (and grab, arrrghhh!) the Flame Spirit when the music time limit drops to 22s starting on Level 6. The short level time limit certainly doesn't help things, either... I look forward to a future HSC where we all play the "Who Turned Out The Lights?" game variation, haha.
  12. PM sent on some loose and boxed 2600 games -- nice selection!
  13. 172,790 (Atari 5200) I played Mountain King all the time as a kid -- easily one of my favorites. I couldn't pull it off this time around but I remember making a run through 8+ levels a few times as a kid. Probably with a little more practice I could do it again. I had a lower scoring run where I got to Level 7 and could very well have advanced further but, well, see how I died at the end. 25,025 (Atari 2600) This was a pretty cool piece of programming for the VCS, but jumping between ledges is maddening, and makes the jumping in the 5200 version seem like a breeze to me!
  14. Some completed VCS sets! All NTSC. Atari text labels: Activision labels: Activision English/French labels: Activision blue/white labels: Epyx: Mythicon: Getting close on the other sets I'm after. 2 more Atari pic label carts to find (Black Jack, Flag Capture). 7 more Atari silver/gray (Asteroids, Asterix, Crazy Cilmber, Gremlins, Obelix, Quadrun, Track & Field). 4 more Atari red (BMX Airmaster, KLAX [PAL], Motorodeo, Yars' Revenge). 3 more Atari kids' games with nice labels (BBEC, CMM, OTR). And 7 more Sears picture labels (Basketball, Canyon Bomber, Gunslinger, Night Driver, Race, Superman, Warlords). Drop me a line if you have any of these as extras... thanks!
  15. Lots of new loose 2600 carts in my trade list -- have a look. If you don't have something I want in trade, feel free to make an offer or send a trade list of your own. Thanks!
  16. This patched/hacked ROM should work for a 2-port BIOS. Is there a difference between the A8 and 5200 games? Mountain King (1984) (Sunrise Software) h1 (Two Port).zip
  17. 2,281 This game totally cheats -- an invader can be dead and gone for almost a full second and still drop a bomb outta nowhere!
  18. When I was corresponding with Bradley back at the very end of March this year about an order I intended to place (BTW, another thumbs-up for Best from me!) I inquired about availability of upgraded paddles, and he responded: [insert joke about finding a new pot supplier here]
  19. After reading through the rest of that (great) thread that I linked to, I agree -- I think it's fine to stay on the list.
  20. I'd argue that VentureVision's Rescue Terra I shouldn't be listed, then. Perhaps it was an exaggeration, but Dan Oliver said they sold "about 10" copies, and VentureVision closed before selling any other titles.
