  1. Recently got acquainted with Xybots. I wasn't really a big fan back in the late 80's of this game, but now it's holding my attention. That and my favorite Wizard of Wor, which I can't seem to get enough of.
  2. Animal Crossing is very, unique, to say the least, and if it's something you begin to take a shine to, you'll be hooked. I've played every version except the Switch one since it's inception (American version) in 2001. Pokemon is really hard to put down once you start. I was terribly bitten by the Pokemon bug since the first release way back in the original Gameboy days. Chrono Trigger is another personal favorite of mine! Played that for hours on my SNES (again, back in the day before dinosaurs went extinct) and beat it several times.
  3. I recently bought a used 3DS XL for one game and one game only: Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which I'm obsessed over (and play every day). Also added Pokemon Moon, but those are the only two games I currently own. Might hit up Gamestop to see if they have any games at a decent price this weekend to add to the collection. I did have a Switch, but I really prefer the 3DS over it (silly me, I know).
  4. Just some classic Atari 2600 goodness last night: Ms. Pacman-My score? 26,500. Next score? 500. Augh. Pitfall!-I always play this daily! Demon Attack-I love Phoenix, but this game has me hooked.
  5. Still loving the original Berzerk on the Atari 2600, not the voice enhanced! This game has it's own unique charm.

There's something cathartic about endlessly blasting robots.  I like the aesthetic of Berzerk, too, both on the Atari 2600 and 800/5200; I find the dark background, stark colors, and sparse sound effects to be very absorbing.

Yeah.  Doomsday scenario is the ticket.  I may die, but I will take some of 'em with me!

So much fun (and failure) trying to pull off the "robot shoots through the no-neck" human trick. Sometimes I get lucky...

  6. I've also suffered from the dreaded Modern Gaming Fatigue from time to time, so that is the opportune moment to switch to my Atari 2600 and play some quick games that I loved as a kid. I can't say that I loathe/hate online gaming, as DC Universe Online is one of my favorite games to play when I'm in the mood to be a superhero, and games like Star Wars Squadrons also appeals to the Star Wars "kid" in me. I'm also finding that I haven't bought a physical game in a long time, but have bought digital games more often that I realized. The stores around me have very little selections for games, so I usually end up buying myself a gift card, loading it into my Microsoft account, then browsing the store to see if anything tickles my fancy. There are a few games coming up I'm interested in, but really, not too many pique my interest as of late. So, once again, I plug in Space Invaders and have more fun playing that than I do "modern" games. I'm really glad that I still have a working 2600 to fall back on when the modern gaming fatigue sets in, which seems to happen more often than not lately. I AM guilty of buying "extras" in games like DCUO, so I can get some powers that you can't get "free", but I don't go nuts with that type of stuff. I do prefer, overall, my games to be complete without micro transactions.
  7. Recently got 65,000 on Video Pinball for the Atari 2600. First play on that game in a long while.

  8. Happy Thanksgiving, welcome Black Friday. :)

  9. I've been playing Squadrons on and off now since it's release and I have to say, it's a pretty fun game overall. I prefer to fly in the A-Wing for the Republic, but it depends on what my team is made up of for ships. Most times I switch to support due to no one else wanting to BE support. I don't mind playing the assist role where needed, but the A-Wing is my favorite ship, followed closely by the Y-Wing. It will be interesting to see how they integrate the two new ships into the scheme of things. I never much preferred flying around in the B-Wing, but maybe this will change my mind once I climb into the cockpit and give it a go.
  10. Picked up and is currently playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf on my 3DS XL. Still a great game, relaxing, and just the perfect remedy for stress right now.

  11. Just started collecting for the 3DS. Looking forward to a colorful library of games!

  12. Strange...I've been playing more Atari 2600 lately due to the Fall season settling in. Must have been "automatic"..and my Xbox gets used for Netflix more while I play Atari. Starting to play Haunted House more as well, due to the holiday season. Hot cocoa goes well with Atari nights.
  13. Here's my exclusive Atari 2600 list that means as much to me today as it did back then: Asteroids Berserk Space Invaders Ms. Pacman Pitfall! Missile Command
  14. Although I personally never had the honor of talking or meeting with Curt, he certainly was a giant among men. RIP to you, Curt, and may your family find peace. Steve
  15. I personally haven't stepped back into my local Gamestop now for a good many months. I've let my "Pro" subscription go by the wayside, but I'm still getting their magazine. Hmm, not sure why that's happening..but I digress. I've been purchasing digital copies through game cards I can put on my account, and if I really want a physical game, I go to Walmart. Most times, however, it's just easier for me to shop digitally and buy games that way. Gamestop disappointed me in their practices, and you could say that I finally opened my eyes to their trade-in policies. How much money have I lost over the years? More than I wish to think about... Thanks for the memories, my local Gamestop, but adieu to you...the sooner the better. Although another store going out of business in my downtown of West Lebanon NH is staring to make the whole shopping center districts look like a ghost town.
  16. Well, I took the plunge and pre-ordered it for my Xbox One, being a HUGE Star Wars fan and love the idea of combat in an X-wing (but I prefer the heavy hitter, the Y-wing). Should be fun to play in any event. Funny, I wasn't a big fan of digital downloads, having wanted a physical copy of the games...but now I prefer the digital over the physical. Times change. lol
  17. Another excellent review, and thank you! One of my favorites on my Atari 2600 that still gets lots of play.
  18. While I don't have any experience related to the 7800 (although it has piqued my interest on more than one occasion), for pure nostalgia, the 2600 is the way to go. It was the console I grew up with, fell in love with decades later, and still have to this day. All my favorites from my childhood I managed to get again, so when playing them I can feel myself slipping back to my single-digit years....oh so long ago.
  19. Ah, well that's true. I'm sure it's difficult to make sure boxed games arrive in one piece.
  20. I haven't taken the plunge yet to go hunting for Atari 2600 boxed games, but there's quite a few I'm missing still and want (Adventure, Haunted House, and Warlords comes to immediate mind). I have a ton of loose carts, but since I really enjoy the boxed art and manuals, that's what I'm gonna shoot for. I figured unless I hit you guys up here, that was pretty much my only option (other than Ebay).
  21. Stargate...incredible game for the Atari 2600!

I was very impressed as well.  Everything Defender should have been on the Atari 2600.

    2. Cobra Kai

      Cobra Kai

That's one of those games that I was always jealous a friend had and I didn't.

  22. It's so terrible, it's good! I know this game has received it's share of hate over the years, but I don't think my Atari 2600 collection would be complete without a few loose copies and a CIB. But great video, and thanks!
  23. Hi, folks, Long time Atari 2600 player and collector, looking for the latest scoop on how expensive these days collecting CIB games. What have you guys and gals run across if you collect CIB? I have a modest collection myself, and am looking for more in the near future. Thanks for your input.
  24. Here's my list: Laser Blast-for the incredible laser effects and when your ship gets hit Pitfall-very good looking game, smooth play, and good sound effects Berserk-Simply great game play, despite the lack of voice. Stargate (Defender II)-Everything from the sound to the graphics and smooth game play and lastly, Ms. Pacman-Excellent coin op conversion with different mazes and excellent sounds.
  25. That was great! Thanks for doing that review. Excellent version and seems very close to the arcade.
