  1. I've cleaned out my local game stores. Used to collect Sega exclusively but I have no energy for these rising prices and I find I like Genesis and NES music more than playing these days. Got a HES 2 game cart coming.
  2. The Ataris are a good band. On a punk kick, lately.
  3. I'm down for anything music. I'm a guitar player and music lover first, Atari collector second.
  4. Ice Hockey and River Raid all done on a PAL Atari 2600 Jr short Rainbow. And for some reason my pics are upside down, but whatever.
  5. My aim is $10 a week. $20 max. Luckily most Atari games are pretty cheap. I used to collect Genesis games and even the worst games were average $15-20 while most of the best Atari games were common so a lot are $6 tops.
  6. I first started researching old Atari games back around 2002-3ish. Wish I was an adult with cash back then instead of a 12 year old kid. I used to look on eBay and see 40 Atari games for $15
  7. I'd love to see something about Swordquest but I don't think it would have enough appeal to make a profit. Most you will get is basic internet videos talking about it.
  8. That Vtech controller looks too complicated for me. I'm not Superman!
  9. That looks brutal. Pac-Man looks like he is in agony! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=clgfRkyGqrc
  10. It also depends where you live. In a small town the old games go to the pawn stores or they go to eBay, in a bigger city there may just be 10 areas near you they could go to. Unfortunately most people think they have gold just because it's old. Tapes I got for 10 cents people have on eBay for $30 buy it now. To me most tapes are worth $2 max and of course the occasional one maybe $10 max. No way you are getting $30 for a tape of a kids show I used to watch and I want to laugh at with friends. I'll pay $2 for that pleasure but no way am I doing $30. Same with games. I got rid of ebay to save me from myself haha but in the wild as a rule $5 is my average for a common atari game, then about $15 for more uncommon stuff then it goes from there. On average my games were $6. Two most expensive games for me were Beat em and Eat em for $50 and Pitfall II for $30.
  11. I got a HES release about 5 years ago from a retro store which is usually overpriced but they wanted $5 for it. Unfortunately I sold it two years ago because of a problem in my personal life. Kicking myself for it.
  12. I agree. I have some cassettes because my first car only had a tape deck so I went and got Bon jovi, Alice Cooper and Poison albums and they were seen for the most part as garbage to stores. But it is good when you find them because they are cheap. Unfortunately usually the only cassettes I run across are religious tapes and one time I found a Hanson cassette. As a kid of the late 90's I wasn't sure to get it or leave it.
  13. I collect VHS tapes so I go to thrift stores for that. Rarely do non sport PS2 games show up. I have seen Genesis, Master System, goid pc games and 2600 but that is so rare. One time found a Disney Basketball game for Gamecube...for $25. And a HES multicart for the 2600 for near 30 or 40
  14. I paid $2 for a RCA cable and the picture on my 2600 is really good.
  15. I got a JR and it is true they feel cheaper. But mine does what I need it to so I'm happy with it.
  16. GBA and DS games are the common ticket for scammers to sell fakes. Guess this guy realised how rare some Atari games are but were too dumb to realise you shouldn't sell 8 copies of an extremely rare game. Especially when only around 100 are estimated.
  17. Bi! Bi! Got this game in the bundle I got my first 2600 with. Easily the worst game in there and the bundle had E.T. which I admit is one of my favorites. Also this cover https://atariage.com/cart_page.php?SoftwareLabelID=1619 Looks like that scene from Futurama where Fry and the mermaid are cheering on the giant squid trying to kill the whale
  18. The Sega game with Smells Like Teen Spirit I listen to a little bit of Nirvana. I got Bleach on vinyl the other day. Their lyrics are so good. I admit Smashing Pumpkins do more for me (especially Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie with some bits of Machina, Adore and Gish in there) but you can't deny what Nirvana did. Unfortunately I was born late 1990 so by the time I even heard Smells Like Teen Spirit for the first time it was 2002-03 and since it was being played on the radio I assumed it was a new band.
  19. I think a big reason why NES is massive with collectors besides nostalgia is that the system had a lot of odd accessories, odd games, the unlicensed games etc. Plus Nintendo dominated pop culture. Watch a show at the time and if they had a video game it was usually the NES. But these to me is why the Atari is awesome, too. Most shows back then had an Atari. In E.T. they had a VCS on top of their TV. However, the episode of Diff'rent Strokes where Arnold and Dudley were being targeted by the creep who owned the bike store, he had an Intellivision in the back of his store...with some wine and Playboys.
  20. How do you feel about this video where he is flat out saying the VCS is horrible? I know Conan is just goofing around making others laugh but I feel this videos comedy was coming more from look at how bad this late 70's console is rather than legitimately finding funny stuff
  21. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyUpT0g2KAE Chuckwagon is easy to get if you are willing to pay and go online for it. I got a copy a few years back for $80. To me the game is a grail if you get the box. I'm only collecting CIB games and so some games go from being common to uncommon, uncommon to kinda rare etc.
  22. Thanks for all the input in this topic. Very informative and I'm glad I'm talking mostly to people who grew up in that generation. By the time I was born, Sonic The Hedgehog was about 8 months away from launching on Genesis
