Conversational German - WAVs (1.5Gb) https://drive.google.com/file/d/13XjovsLK5eu6dIWUBCZgiw_r5D3S0cjs/view?usp=sharing Tested with Altirra - I can now fluently count to twenty and ask how to get to the bus station. Just scanned the cassettes as the docs are massive and available on Atari Mania - http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-conversational-german_1334.html

I had no joy with 1.2 either. Here's one from an earlier version which seems to work fine (show roster). Computer Ambush - Save Disk.atr

I tried multiple drives from 3.5 & 5.25 LD & HD (D0). 3.5 HD PC (Samsung, Sony), 5.25 LD & HD would respond but do nothing. 3.5 LD Amiga drives (Epson, Panasonic, Cumana (Citizen)) Would read the directory but were flaky and disk error. No ST drives available for me to test. Amiga Chinon FB-354 drive (set to D0) works fine. The toggle switch chooses drive 1 or 2. No documentation included as per the slip cover notes. Disk and Scans - SCP of original 3.5 disk (Only one side is used), a8rawconv MD.atr (Bootable) & Files coped onto a DD.atr (One file would not copy MM.OBJ although the image is error free - NAK error) 720kADDI.7z

Collection #9 Around 150+ disks with a mix of originals, protected non-originals and menus. As always have a look through and enjoy. Looks like there may be a few rares/missing in this one. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JEOHtuhcu7rcsnkQfYhlV0XlJNH0usuT/view?usp=sharing Previous collections - 1-8 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Vh9tc09-zZ3jZTRH3OekwhKmAuEctUAQ/view?usp=sharing

Thanks for the advice. Using the Stontronics psu with the 800 at the moment, I have plenty of the original psu too. It's out the case and have had it on for a few mins and the diodes are staying cool to the touch on the new power board. It's all very odd, no problems otherwise for years. 800 was on and working fine even with the smoke coming out. No idea, although the one I was using was going strong. Only issues versus the original plug-cord-brick-cord design is that these wall wart ones are so big you can plug anything next to it
-
These are the ones I'm using. From a UK supplier. Again no previous issues with drives and 800. Also have a Stontronics one I've not used. https://www.poweradaptorsuk.co.uk/ Not sure if switching as they are still big and heavy.

yep, typo. edited.

Been using the machine most of the last week no problems, including yesterday evening for several hours. Powered on this morning fine for an hour or so, then the problem started. I replaced all my 9v AC psu with modern ones several months ago and not have any issues. I've checked the output ok of the one I was using but have swapped it for another. I have a spare 800 and have swapped the power board and it all seems fine, problem is now is it going to happen again due to another possible fault, plus the lingering burning smell doesn't help as it warms up.
-
These computers and devices we love are old and you can sometimes have problems, like I just did. Luckily I was next to my 800 and hadn't wandered off when the burning smell hit me and smoke started pouring out the side.

Thanks Nezgar. I don't have the means to dump the rom. I was going to try transplanting the mod to another board, as it just spins with no head response and the drive is not recognised at all on boot.
-
A while ago I picked up an 810 in very poor condition. Faint power light at power on and no drive response at all. I noticed it had a mod I've not seen before. It is a separate board that was tied to the back of the side board. I got another 810 today of the same model/rev which works fine, so popped in the modded side board but all I get is the drive spinning constantly. Anyone recognise it? Thanks
