  1. What model TV is the Sony? It sounds like the aspect ratio is set to Just scan instead of 4:3.
  2. It shouldn't matter. If you install the service core first you can see the change in the cv revision before and after loading, but either is fine.
  3. New core updates: Updated CV Core (11/23/19) Rev 6 CORE01.PHX Changes: -Changed Keyboard detection fix from port 30 to 31 to fix issue with Courtney -Changed back to Courtney sound chip from generic AY chip -Speech in Wizard of Wor and QBIQS fixed -still might need a few audio mixing tweaks -Fixes to F18a settings menu Service Menu (11/23/19) SERVICE.PHX Install by pressing # to go to service menu and then press 3 to install service. Changes: -Added core revision display on install and load core screens
  4. Super Game module audio will also be low if you don't tap C88.
  5. If you want to install a core in a different slot, just change the core number in the file name and then install that core number on the service menu.
  6. You can enter with a SNES controller by using the mappings for the * and # keys, which are Hold down R shoulder button and either Start or Select The menu is only active during core boot, reset, or sd loader menu.
  7. The menu should work with real carts. You just need to hold * or # when the core boots or during a reset. So when the system powers up and the LED turns off to load the core, then press and hold * or # until the menu comes up. You can also hold * or # and then hit the reset button while holding the button and it will bring up the menu. The settings are not persistent so you would need to set them up each time. (This may not be the end goal solution, but will allow the games to be played properly in the mean time).
  8. First Post updated with updated CV core. Changelog on first post
  9. Posts looking for support should be included in this thread as this is actually the place to do it. The background sound issues seems to be related to something related to specific TVs. This is something we are looking into, but don't have a solution yet. I am updating the first post soon with a new version. Try that one out and see if anything changes. Without having that sound issue on any of my TVs is tougher to fix.
  10. The PS2 port is 5V and runs through a voltage translator to 3.3V into the FPGA.
  11. This came up last season with Tapper. I think the general rule is to have forward progression and to not sit and churn points on an easy section of the game.
  12. First rule of secret club game is don't talk about secret club game. Probably best to not even reference where the game came from if you do talk about it later
  13. Yes, that makes a lot of sense from a cross platform perspective.
  14. Not that it matters now since the game is released, but there is an easier way to detect the frequency on a cv "It was in a thread about modding by changing the OS in ColecoVision in order to skip the title screen, and I've decided to make the ROM file properly set as a PAL version by changing the value 60 for 50 at the address memory $0069, which is, based on the Coleco documentation, where the frequency value is hardcoded... and it's named AMERICA in the OS7 BIOS Complete listing, which is weird but... Anyway, mystery solved!"
  15. Right now it depends on if playing from cart or sd card. For SD card loader, any games can enable the sprite flicker. For playing from cart, if the game is a "AA 55" game sprite flicker can be enabled while the Phoenix splash screen with the game name is displayed. if the game is a "55 AA" game it skips the BIOS and goes straight to the game, so there is no chance to enable the sprite flicker.
  16. You can also load the core without video. Just press # then 1 then 1 right after powering the system on. After hitting the second 1 you should see the led start flashing purple.
  17. It sounds to me like your system is generating random button presses, which seems like it is going into the service menu and removing and installing cores. The LED only flashes purple when installing cores. The only way for the core to be missing and give the red led is when you go into the service menu and uninstall the cv (default) core. I would be curious to see if you tried a different controller or snes controller with the system.
  18. Have you tried turning on the system with no cartridge? What controllers do you have plugged in? Did you install the core files from the first post by pressing # then 1 then 1 after powering on?
  19. Have you tried with a HDMI switch? A splitter might not react the same way. Also try using the cores on the first post to update your system. The other test to see if it is the system not powering down issue is to unplug and then replug the hdmi cable after the system is off. If that works the first time when powering up, then that is the issue. What controllers are you using in the system? Not sure what the * right right is. Pressing * right after powerup will bring you to the core load screen where you can press 1 for cv or 2 for 2600.
